1. I saw it as an opportunity to see everything in one place, chat with other players and see what was new. It was certainly not the place to get an idea if you want to buy something expensive. I tried a few things out (Overwaters, Orange amps, new Yamaha BBs, a Ray34) but not loads. I think in hindsight I wish i'd tried out one of the Foderas on Bass Gear stand simply because it was a rare opportunity to do so. But, if anything, the show made me more content with the gear I already have. Doesn't stop me wanting more though I suppose ! That blue Bongo 6 HH...mmm.
2. BGM subscription (with the free t-shirt/Hercules wall stand/Rotosound strings), and also a Rotosound clip-on tuner (which I thought was a bargain at £5), but it doesn't work ! Have emailed them in disappointment.
3. Out of that list i'd go with the Lakland but more importantly, what kind of sound are you after ?
4. Yeah, I think that was sold in the morning ! Bargain..
5.
Yes I had a look at the Contemprary J in blue yesterday at the Bass Show - it's a beauty!......didn't have chance to play it unfortunately (wouldn't have heard myself anyway!). Very tempted to invest in one but would like to test it out in a 'quieter' environment Angie
Oh you mean this one ? I was very impressed with it. Image featuring niceguyhomer and MythSte .
6. For those who missed Mark King yesterday... http://www.level42.com/2011/03/13/mark-kin...show-2011-live/
7. You're right, I can see the most viewed attachments but it doesn't give me dates.
8.
Thanks for posting. What's the white bass with the three pickups in the background of the first photo?
Ibanez JTKB. See here: Ibanez website
9. Yes, however some of those could be in long term 'image porn' threads or not be so large as to be contributing to the issue. Alas it is not possible to filter out old images that have not been accessed for x amount of time.

Wow, you didn't give him much time !
11. Thanks chaps. 1.2GB cleared in total and 1300 files.
12. I missed TM Stevens (time flew past) but saw the Mark King ensemble, whilst his playing left me indifferent - i'm glad I saw him. He seemed fairly modest and seemed quite genuine in his responses to questions.
13.
Thanks for the taps on the shoulders from the two BC'ers that recognised my mug!
I take it that's not you in the avatar then !

Yamaha BBs

Played the 425 and 1025 at London Bass Show today. There was a difference between the 2 (the 1024 feeling a bit better, could have just been setup) but I didn't feel the price difference was sufficient for the disparity of the sounds. Then again, the show was far from the ideal place to compare subtleties of tones.
15.
Must remember to get the plugs out of my gig bag.
Don't forget ! It won't really take the volume down (it goes through you) but will take the top end out making it much more comfortable.
16.
The worst two offenders (IMHO) were the guy on the Rotosound stand with the Warwick Streamer, who was dong all this multiple finger tapping and slapping stuff.
Seen him a few times. Each occurrence has led to me wanting to see him savaged by a pack of rabid badgers.
17.
I stopped going to music (and especially bass) shows many years ago for this very reason. The last one was back in 1987, and the Goodfellow stand sounded like a typing pool. I quote: "Yuckity-yuckity-twat-yuckity-yuckity-twat-yuckity-yuckity-juckity-juckity-yuckity-yuckity-twat-twat-twat".
Wow, exactly the same as today ! And also Bass Day 2008, 2009, 2010...
18. Just got home and cracked open some Kronenbourg ! Very tiring day but enjoyable. Had some very good chats with various people including Chris May (very impressed by new Tanglewaters), Orange Amps and Bass Gear. Have got loads of great pictures, will get them uploaded tomorrow. Shouts out to all BCers I saw today and thanks to niceguyhomer for providing transport and MythSte for wearing an easily recognisable blue shirt.
19. Right my lift will be here in 15 mins ! See you there.
20. Right thats 900MB cleared ! This equates to ~1000 attachments removed and a total clearance of 2.2%! It's all good work, a lot of people must have mucked in without posting .
21. We're not intending to remove any posts - even old ones can be searched from on google (e.g. someone searches for 'wal for sale') and ends up here. Might not get the bass they want that day but are more likely to get sorted eventually !
22.
40Gb and you're getting worried...I'd be asking your hosts why you've got such little HDD space considering it's cheap as chips these days.
We are looking at expanding it, in the short term this is the best solution.
Also noticed Basschat is being pig-slow today. hmmm coincidence?
I have noticed a correlation between querying the attachment statistics and a slowdown, it seems to be quite CPU intensive. Just checked again and now about 400MB has been cleared. That's 1% of the total we have in attachments. Don't need them all clearing, just the old or excessively sized ones !
23.
..but don't want to listen to the din of a million slappin' clankin' chumps.
That's reminded me, I suggest everyone brings earplugs .
24. About 100MB has been cleared in an hour, nice work ! Now for that other 39.9GB...
25. Trying out amps in a huge hall with loads of other bassists I think would be fruitless !
