2. Rickenbacker 4003 (Fireglo) Musicman Stingray 5 HH (Blue pearl/white pickguard & Maple neck) An old Fender P or J (with plenty of mojo must be pre 1975, sunburst. Block inlays preferred !)
3. I got on with Warwick Reds (£11.50 a set on Stringbusters) on my MIM Jazz. They sounded fine and seemed to last well.
4. Helsinki (Finland) to Hemnesberget (Norway) ? Oh only 663 miles
5. I think he'd have to cancel rather than be seen with another make of instrument, I bet his endorsement deal has serious T&Cs.
6. I restrung my Progress with some D'Addario Chromes the other day, i've hardly put it down since ! They're fat and warm in sound but retain midpresence and top end if I dig in. Before I wasn't 100% happy with the roundwounds (Overwater light) as they lacked a little bottom end through the preamp and had to boost it most of the time to my liking. It is most true that a simple but often overlooked change of strings can rejuvenate an instrument and get you hooked all over again for not much cash.
7. My list is 15 basses in 9 years, only one have I had for a while (since 2003), the others less than 6 months. I expect the rotation will slow down as I am the happiest i've been for some time with the Overwater (despite a grass is green moment a few months ago). The T-Bird was something i'd wanted for years and has poor resale value so will probably stay too ! I think more will come instead of some going... now where's that Fireglo Ricky ?
8. Thread cleaned !
9. The 55-02 I had was awesome, if it looked like the on in the video i'd probably have kept it .
10. What bass was it you got from your friend ?
11. Yeah, I want something from 1983 - but what was actually good back then ? It certainly isn't Fenders.
12. PM sent.
13. Moving to For Sale forum (clue is in the name ). Please also add a price, that is a requirement of this forum.
14. As someone who lives in Birmingham I will be quite happy to quell this rebellion.
15. I have an old Vintage VP6 and regularly borrow whatever my Dad has bought recently (guitarists get GAS too). I'm not too bad, could probably play well enough to be in a predictable rock band, no fiddly solos though ! I do enjoy a bit of bluesy lead though...
16. It's definitely an unusual setup for an active bass, but the default tone is pretty awesome. Mine will be back working soon hopefully !
17. The switch is supposed to be a mid boost. There is no fault with them, they work as designed ! It's an active bass but only the boost switch is an active control, it's not possible to turn down anything but the treble on a standard pot (no centre point).
18. It is fairly CPU intensive it seems, bear with it though it will be fine.
19. All of the trade deals i've done have been like that. Also The Epiphone Thunderbird I bought at Christmas I didn't even try out in the shop, I knew what to expect from it and I could take it back if I had any issues.
20. I like quite differing tones for different styles of music, and no one bass can do that for me. If you think one is limiting then of course, indulge yourself. But if they're all fairly similar in feel or sound I don't see the point. As for improving your playing - sticking with one will stop you focusing on the tone you're hearing and looking to improve that, rather than your musical ability or technique.
21. They're in the US, right ? Can't see them travelling over to appear in court. I'd just appease them verbally and carry on playing it.
22. Have a look here for and see if this helps: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=126658 There is also a limit of 20MB of attachments per thread. (e.g. 5x4MB, 10x2MB) which may be the issue you are having.
23. As requested by Oldman, this thread is now closed.
24. As with any transaction, the goods need to be returned before payment is refunded. It looks to me like Geester is willing to do this, so the OP might as well get on with it.
25. Did it say anything else was included ? If not, then what else were you expecting ? Personally i've never bought an instrument new that was anything but the bass.
