1. Yes it did, traded with him about 6 months ago and he only lives round the corner .
2.
What's the weight on this beaut?
Swamp ash so not too heavy, i'll take a guess at 10lbs but will see if the bathroom scales want to be more accurate tonight. It's lighter than my MIM Jazz I know that much.
3. I should add i'm mostly interested in 5 string, 2 pickup and active EQ instruments. Fussy ? I wouldn't have it any other way !
4. Oh forgot to add - this is one of the Handmade series Bacchus do which I think if you want new now is about £1500 (plus import costs).
5.
what's the scale length? this really is a nice looking bass
I'm quite sure it's standard 34".
6. Howdy chaps, a feeler on this at the moment. It's what I believe to be a 2002 Bacchus Venus 5 (hard to confirm year as their website is ever changing and in Japanese). This bass has been to the US, Ireland and now reached the peak of it's fame in Birmingham ! I think GAS might be to blame here and I feel I have a natural cycle where I have a bass for 6 months and want something else ! I could very well put some new strings on it and realise i'm being stupid. It's in near perfect condition with only minor scuffing on the back (not visible unless looking into a reflected light from 6 inches away). I've seen new basses in shops look worse. Swamp ash body (cream pearl binding), 2 band EQ (volume/mix/treble/bass), maple neck with rosewood fingerboard (white pearl binding). Definitely a crisp clear tone from this bass, it's not a classic warm sounding jazz - think more Marcus. Looking for equivalent valued 5 string bass. Anyone got anything tasty ? . I would value this at £800 if that helps with any trade offers.
7.
When's Machines completed Yamaha respray gonna be ready?!
Not 100% but complete enough to get the idea .
8. Pointless thread which isn't going anywhere. To the OP - the 'best' anything is down to personal preference and you will not get a common answer.
9. Please add a price to your item.
10. Diana Vicker's voice makes me feel violent. She sings with a furiously annoying accent to everything.
11. Ah that's ok then, not having this forum associated with those silly fruit phones !
12. I hope you are joking .
13. I had a similar thing at Bass Day, lots of very very nice gear - but nothing really turned my head and made me drool over it. I get home and am happy with my Bacchus which costs a fraction of what some of these basses did. Glad to be in the position to a degree (saves a lot of money) but also some of the excitement of trying new gear and wanting it is gone.
14. Nice one ped, I like the way it accentuates the wood grain. Got that one of dood and me ?
15. It's usually women doing the stalking but hey I can be open minded .
16. 20 followers now, thanks chaps .
17. Here's the bass after the last coat of gloss white, have let it harden for 3 weeks before putting all the hardware back on to check it out. Am quite happy with it despite the finish not being that perfect close up (not visible in photos). Also once all the hardware was back on it's less noticeable. Next job is some touching up (ooer) and then wiring it back up.
18. Like I said it won't be used a lot just for announcements etc.. It will only complement the forum not attempt to replace its functionality .
19. Don't get too excited ! It'll be used for any important site news/ events coming up or any outages we experience, hopefully with info on a fix time. Please feel free to add @basschatuk !
20. I added those a while ago - I think someone may have overwritten them ! I will find the person responsible and ensure they are killed swiftly.
21. I don't think it's meaningless - the Lakland ones to my ears are quite transparent. I compared my 55-02 to the website samples (DI'd to headphones) and it was spot on. More manufacturers should do it, it gives an idea what the basic tone of an instrument is and then you can work out yourself what your rig will do to that tone.
22. I'm glad I went there with no money (well, a tenner isn't going to get me far). Happy with my gear at the moment and didn't want grass is greener mode to kick in .
23.
I'm the abnoxious tw@ that was milling about. Nah, I believe you and Ped were around whilst I was having a substandard noodle on the Xotic at Mark's Bass Direct stand.
This one ? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...tic_XJ-1T4.html It sounded pretty good to me..
24.
Didn't enjoy Stuart Hamm or didn't enjoy Bass Day?
Stu Hamm as a set I suppose, the only part I found slight enjoyment in was when he did Country Music. I don't remember seeing you there, but then again I have no idea what you look like .
25. Enjoyed looking at the gear, always fun to try out new stuff. Saw a few familiar faces and was good to catch up . Stu Hamm was very talented, but I'll be honest that I didn't enjoy it. Me and ped left before Victor Bailey though as our ears had been 'bassed out' .
