1. And at that - I will close this thread.
2. Since this has been edited to death by multiple persons it's hard to see the facts as they occurred. I have PM'd Beedster for his take on the situation and will also do so with the seller.
3. There I fixed it ! . By texting phatmonkey...
4. Try another browser - no such issue for me in Chrome or IE9 . EDIT: Actually, now I see it ! Will speak to phatmonkey. Looks like search has an issue too.
5.
I think Fender is done with Mr Hamm, he took a bit of a pause at Bass Day when he announced the Washburn thing.
I think i'd feel asleep whilst he was telling that story ! Don't remember him saying at all..
6. 5 for me. I find 4's easiest to play and 6 is a bit too much (having owned one for a year), never did use that high C. I think my playing and knowledge has developed to the point I might be better in a 6 string now though.
7.
To be honest how many suppliers keep their websites totally up to date? Not just musical instruments – anything. I always phone before ordering online to check if it's in stock.
Their stock system should be linked to their website in order not to mislead customers. It's not hard to implement.
8. Surprisingly mine is here, but on my phone it is Google (with a bookmark to Basschat lofi !).
9. Great vid - alas I expect the bass wouldn't sound that good in my hands !
10. I don't see the point of forcing a seller to do this. People can easily do a search if they so wish.
11. I freely admit i've made money (in terms of value of instruments) by using this forum. I've gone from a bass bought 2nd hand for £250 (from a store) to one worth nearly £3k new in 4 years - without spending a penny. Have I ripped anyone off ? Not once, they all made me offers that I accepted. Am I immoral ?
12. You need to post a price i'm afraid .
13. I got finance on a Spector years ago from Sound Control. Bass cost me £350 and 12 months interest free, all good ! However, if I hadn't have paid it up within the 12 months i'd automatically have entered into a 3 year agreement with 30% APR and the bass would have cost me nearer £700, oddly I made sure that didn't happen ! Always read the smallprint.
14. There's a lot more guitarists out there than bassists, probably even more hobby collectors too.
15. An interesting variation on the singlecut principle. Not sure I like the way the top horn is still outlined in the top wood but it's certainly something original.
16.
Why do you think I have been brushing up on my photography skills?
You should see his facebook updates !
17. They're quite different basses - what sound are you after ? You won't get a Bongo to sound like a Miller Jazz and vice versa.
18. Of all the instruments I reviewed - this is the only one I actually miss !
19. Hi, please see our affiliates market FAQ here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=61745
20. Swapped my Bacchus for Sean's Overwater last week. He was very trusting and accommodating (sent the bass to me and I couldn't send mine till a few days later). Top chap.
21. Feel free to PM any mod you see online at the bottom of the board index in the future .
22. I've only traded basses in the last 4 years and have gone from an 1980 Ibanez Musician bought for £250 and cleaned up, then swapped it for a Stingray and then a few others. Now i'm on an Overwater having put out no money since the Ibanez - for me trading is the best thing to do in a bad market. Of course this never allows you to build up a collection . Now where's that £1200 for a Ricky.. EDIT: Moving this to a more suitable forum .
23. I'm sorry Al but this thread is against the rules You have to state a price !
24. It took me well over 30 seconds to load this page on a 10MB connection - you might want to resize them or put less pics up !
25. Had chance to get used to it now, the EQ is definitely not what i'm used to and is quite subtle, the EQ bands it affects are quite narrow (especially the mid). That said - the EQ doesn't really need much usage, flat - the bass sounds absolutely killer. The sustain on the B is outstanding and every string rings with amazing piano like clarity. I don't even notice the 36" scale now (except when I pick up my Jazz and it feels like a guitar) so all is good . Family photo:
