Fair price, and the bridge is a cool upgrade! Interesting saddle alignment, I would guess the Kickass uses the same screw holes as the original Fender bridge yet the saddles of the Kickass are aligned all the way to the right to match the pickup poles and the neck. I wonder if that (mis)alignment prompted the bridge exchange.

Nothing fancy, but some nice pieces of ash with the grain shining nicely through the transparent black finish (that's what Ibanez calls it, but there's not much black to be seen). Lovely basses, I kinda miss the 4-string (but still have the ATK305).

I love everything about it except the headstock! Really cool bass.

That's a Roland MIDI bass. I guess a G-88 with a custom pickguard.

A CW Sig is close to my ideal spec for a Status! I love the full carbon look, I love the different pickup positions, and I love the variable cut and boost on the filter. If I could afford to, and if Rob would be willing to, I would spec a lefty headless CW 5-string with the graphite top reaching all the way up the forearm carve, and I would like the preamp modified (but I'm guessing that's impossible, since the Board 303 is fully PCB-mount). For me, the mid frequency knob is a set-and-forget affair, I never touch it. So I would like it to be an internal trimpot, and have the boost/cut-knob moved to the middle position so the controls are arranged more like a conventional 3-band EQ.

Not at all! Eastwood is an American company founded my Mike Robinson, a vintage guitar collector with a thing for oddballs and rarities (he's the guy behind My Rare Guitars) who aims to affordably recreate some classic designs that are hard to find in their original version. His designs aren't exact recreations or reissues though, but rather modern interpretations made in China with readily available generic hardware and pickups. They'll get you close to the looks and feel of the originals, but not quite. The tone is also not necessarily the same as the originals.

I have a 2003 Streamer LX5, but I don't feel it's totally representative for a newer GPS LX. Mine has a lacquer finish instead of oil, and still has an ovangkol neck which is quite... hefty, to say the least. Newer basses have slimmer necks. It's a lovely bass though, and I have big hands so the neck profile is no problem for me. It has been my main bass in a metal band for a couple of years and worked brilliantly there: bright, tight and gnarly with a very solid bottom (but a bit of a mid-scoop). The 5-string version has two J pickups rather than the PJ 4-string, so there will be a tonal difference.

Great band, and great bass player. Saw them live once at a venue near me in the Netherlands when Phil put me on the guest list to pick up a bass I bought from him on eBay (a lefty Stingray 5 in a spectacular Amber Redburst sparkle finish that I have since traded for a Status S2 Classic 5-string). He also got me the DVD of Live in London that features that bass extensively.

Looks nice, except for the bridge that's angled just slightly too far backwards and doesn't follow the other lines on the bass. How annoying! Wouldn't have been necessary if they'd opted for an adjustable bridge. I really like the design though.

I thought the frets were still bell brass? On my 2003 Streamer LX5 (German-made) the bridge is cast, not machined solid brass. You can easily tell the difference when looking at the bottom, it's hollow. They do offer the solid brass hardware in different colours though (chrome, satin, black, gold). Be prepared to pay a LOT though. In comparison: 4-string bridge + tailpiece, cast, black: €55 4-string bridge + tailpiece, solid brass, black: €385

Maybe advertised in two (or more) places at the same time, and sold through elsewhere? A Wal for the right price will draw attention, and is likely to sell quickly.

I do this too, although not so much through Basschat (I've never sold anything on here before (except for one trade), but I have bought several basses from members here). As a lefty, it is often my only way to be able to try a certain bass or guitar out since most music stores barely carry any lefty instruments. So sometimes I will buy to try, and if it's not my cup of tea I sell it again. I recently bought a bass back for the first time out of seller's remorse 😂. I bought a worn-down black Carvin LB75 on Basschat because I wanted to give a bass with a combination of a J and MM pickup a try, and loved the tone and playability of that bass but absolutely hated the way it looked so I sold it and went looking for a better-looking version. I found one on Gumtree in beautiful flamed walnut and had it shipped to me, but it didn't sound nearly as nice as that old, worn, black one. So I've owned that for roughly two weeks before I sold it on again. Two months ago my old one came back up for sale and I was able to buy it back for what I sold it for, and I'm very happy to have it back.

Looks great, except for the large black area at the tummy cut! I always associate that with cheap basses with veneer bodies where they want to cover up the glue joints. I think it's a shame they do that on a 2100 pound custom bass.

I have a cordless Dremel 8800 and like it, but for tiny precision work I would recommend getting one that's lighter, or adding the flexible shaft extension / snake. The exchangable battery adds substantial weight at the back.

I've become less prone to it since I got my two Status Graphite S2 Classics, I've never been more impressed by a bass than by these two. However, there's always that itch. I browse Basschat and a Dutch forum several times a day, and I make my daily round on Leftybass.com, Leftybassist.com and the Dutch advertising site Marktplaats and have been able to resist temptation for the most part of the last 3 years, but two months ago I bought back a Carvin LB75 I previously owned and more recently I came across a Hohner B2A that spoke to me. Guitars and basses combined, I'm at 22 now and a few things need to go. But I will have a hard time not immediately spending the cash I get out of that on something new 😰

The workmanship on the body is absolutely awful. I can't imagine that came from any respected luthier. The neck maybe, but that body... The wood isn't pretty, the bodyshape is a very rough approximation of a Jazz Bass but not quite there, the shape of the horns and the edges looks rough, the neck bolts are arranged weirdly, that leather pickguard looks awful (the square cuts around the pickup mounting screws! Come on!), and what happened to the back of the neck does not look like "light playwear" as described. For that price!? Hell no.
