1. Lush. Howard's Fender 2x15 is glorious. It has no tweeter, but you can get ear-spitting top-end out of it.
2. Because Furniture Village told Google that they want their advert to be shown to people like you - either demographic, or search history, or what-have-you.
3. I listened to it relentlessly when it first came out... I haven't for a couple of weeks, maybe more, and I can't remember most of it. It just hasn't clicked with me. Squashed dynamics, fussy arrangements, weak melodies. Having said that, I'll have another go this week.
4.
I'm curious, how much nail varnish do you have lying around the place?
It's hard to believe, but some blokes who use the Internet have girlfriends or wives. The really lucky ones have both...
5.
I wouldn't miss any of the mods if they died tomorrow
Ouch..!
6.
It really isn't that much fun being a mod anyway.
Amen to that. The best way you can 'give a bit back' to Basschat is just to be helpful and pleasant. Like I am. ...sometimes.
7. I was a mod back in't day, but I jacked in because there was very little backup when difficult decisions had to be made, and some mods (not all, by any means) were generally MIA. So, I think adding more is a good thing - spread the load and all that.
8. The cab'll be fine - your amp has a volume knob, after all. My only reservation would be: IME the MPulse is quite a warm, fat, thick-sounding head, and the Scout is quite a dark-sounding cab. Too much of a good thing, maybe?
9.
I picked up a used silverface Walkabout in excellent condition on here very recently, and can testify to the positive comments above- it's a fantastic sounding head, and puts out a lot of volume through the right cab, even with an 8ohm load. I own a pair of early-build Barefaced Compacts, and it can keep up with my band pretty easily using just one of them! It wipes the floor with the Shuttle 6.0 I used to own a while back for volume and weight of tone... The fan on mine is very quiet, even when I'm playing at very low volume in my living room. I paid £550 for mine including shipping, and consider that to be an absolute bargain...
The fan thing is weird. I've read a number of comments over on TB from people who are bothered by the fan, and quite a few people have swapped them for quieter PC fans. I've had two Walkabouts, and the fans on both have been barely audible - and I play a lot of 'pin drop' venues, so if they were loud, I'd notice. I wonder if Etienne & I have just been lucky..? Also, I did a couple of gigs over the weekend - one with an acoustic-ish trio where the bass is the main rhythm instrument, and another rock'n'roll gig with a decent PA. For both gigs I was using a single Berg 2x10. With the para EQ rolled all the way down to 30Hz, and backed off the maximum (-15db) With those rumbly lows shelved out, neither the amp nor the cab had to work particularly hard. It was a joy.. such a tight, punchy, fat sound. Walkabout. A beautiful head.
10.
Just to clarify, I get on with my drummer very well After our rehearsal last night, we had a chat about how the band is going etc. We both agree that the new guitarist is very talented but we are not progressing as well as at the start. He made comments about my playing, like it has become more root based 'in the pocket' stuff. We used to be a lot more 'free form' - both knowing what the other will do and playing to it. It made me realise that I have lost my way a little. Although we are a covers band, I usually made my own bass lines (unless they are central to the tune). I seem to have lost that confidence and it is rather confusing. When practicing on my own, I let the music dictate. Now, when I rehearse with the band, I end up sticking with root / 5th and grooving to the beat. Any ideas or advice on how to break free from this durge? Cheers Brian
It seems to me like you have found your way, not lost it.
11. Big walkabout lover here. How loud is your band? I'm back to the WA after spells with the TC RH450 and the Streamliner 900, and don't feel I'm lacking volume or headroom in comparison, even when I'm using a single 8ohm 2x10. That said, none of my bands are ear-earsplittingly loud. We're sensible. No reliabiluty issues - the earlier red-faced models apparently had problems with the effects jack, but it's an easy fix. Generally, they're Mesa, so the build quality is excellent. After finding the class-D heads anaemic, it's a relief to come back to the WA which is a great balance of weight and tone.
12.
it's beautiful. but why has it got a late 60's headstock decal?
I was just going to ask that. Bizarre..?
13. It's hard to put a price on it 'cos there's not many about, but the humbucker 'teles aren't particularly sought after. £1500 is... towards the top-end, I would say.
14. Great bags, these - Streamliner fits perfectly. By coincidence, I had to sell mine... because I moved to a Walkabout!
15. I played a couple of RC customs owned by Rod Clements. They were beautiful... I sold one on eBay for him a few years ago, and he ended up keeping the other. You can hear the fretless here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsHvFOAGJ8k
16. I don't think Thomann are at fault.
17. Ta fer that. '..music had more soul when several people played together.' He's right, you know.
18. Legion is clearly a little confused. As everyone knows, Fender are evil soul-sucking dinosaurs, who only have their own interests at heart. Oh, wait...
19.
Are you mad?? I'd sound like an imp trapped in a baked-bean can
I'm guessing you haven't heard one...
20. As far as genuine advice goes...
21.
I'm glad you posted that! I was just contemplating the vast, endless wasteland that is jazz/fusion. Eww! Eurgh!
Wretched, isn't it?
22. I saw a bit of that, too. Lovely - it really gave the songs a chance to breathe. Canny bass player too...
23. Do they do a non-elevator music version?
24. You'll need to post a price. Great cab - good luck with the sale!
