The amps have a Markbass style control that rolls off the high end at progressively lower frequencies as you turn it ccw. I believe that's what they're talking about.

I had the same dilemma and ultimately went with the Compact + Midget. I like the choice of just using one cabinet, and if you're like me you'll be surprised how often you can just use the one. Barefaced are loud! I'm fine with either cabinet alone for gigs, although the compact is smoother and more like how I tend to like to sound. Together they're very impressive too.

All my basses have Schaller straplocks, does that count? My Fender, more by virtue of being my main (and oft mistreated) gigging bass has it's fair share of replacement parts, and they're all Switchcraft or the like. Just as parts failed, especially the jack socket as someone mentioned. That too the pickguard out when it went, so the new pickguard is the same, only 5 ply rather than 3. Only the pup is an 'upgrade' for the sake of it, the only thing I've changed by choice rather than repair.

1000+, DI only gigs? I'd buy IEMS.......

[/quote] No. Even the HPF aren't dead cuts, they're (sometimes steep, sometimes not) roll offs. If 7 or 8 mics are picking up the kick drum (say, all the ones on the drum kit and one of each of the amps next to it) then that's still a hell of a lot of kick making it past the HPFs and going through the PA. If the xover is set at say 100Hz and the desk HPFs at 80Hz, that produces a very steep cut to get it out of the subs. Pretty much. That way it keeps all of the things that you don't want in the subs completely out. You lose all of the rumble that the guitar mics etc pick up that would normally be fed to the subs if all of the channels went to the xover. If you're xover allows it you should certainly try it.

I was certainly one of them yes RR, I suppose we all hear things differently and we all play in different situations but I really struggled to be heard in a band. Plenty of volume, but it was all an indistinct mush. Obviously, many many people love the Streamliners, but there are just as many of us who run and cry. Really a polarising head.

Nope. As with most things, you can get VERY VERY VERY close, but if you wants tubes, then you want tubes. I am more than happy to give up the last 1% of tube tone for my lighter, easier, cheaper and full-featured GK MB Fusion.

If you want to make a massive difference to a middling pa system, look into aux fed subs. Really cleans up the tops and helps with clarity IME.

You probably haven't done any damage, but yes pedals go in front of the amp generally. :-)

Id find it hard to believe they don't want people buying their products. I have 2 and would have 2 more now if they were in stock.

Cort Curbow, or maybe one of the newer copies. Can't vouch for the latter but the originals were brilliant. I only regret selling 2 basses, and that's one of them. EDIT - But you've bought an SGC, good choice too!

don't really like fake relics either, but I'll admit at least yours looks like it was done through age. Most look reliced. And I hate it in a shop where 3 'old' basses have the exact same wear pattern. My Fender is 10, and as well as the battle scars there's a slight rub through to the wood where my forearm sits. Love it.

Somebody made one on here a while back using a class D module. Like everyone else I just use the effects return on my amp when I need to.
