1.
You're quite right, I was just saying that the man was a very good guy to deal with and had a credibility and integrity that was reassuring.
Granted, and actually that's quite valid. If you'd said he was a liar and cheat his basses would likely be rubbish.
2. Exactly. Like a 'real' pedal board.
3. Just 'cos he sells nice basses doesn't necessarily mean that the ones he makes are any good though.
4. I'm also extremely interested. Been wanting something like this for a while now.
5. Can the Barber be run from a power supply? I guess not because I dont see mention of one on their site.

PSU Help?

Hey, we told you.
7. Wasn't the ASS stuff used by Entwhistle? And shouldn't this be in 'for sale'?
8.
This man makes loops and A/B's and blenders of all sorts. I've not bought his products so I can't vouch for them, but they look pretty good to me! http://www.brightonion.co.uk/
I have a patch pedal from him and works fine. Bloody better mind considering it's a metal box, 4 jacks and no moving parts! An LS2 with an od and eq in the loop would let you blend distorted mids in to your clean signal, but you'd need another loop and another eq to remove your clean mids I suppose. Might be simpler to just leave your clean mids in and blend in the distorted mids to tases?
9. You fancy my EHX Muff Overdrive? Bored of it and it plays weird with my power supply, not an issue if you just want the one pedal. £20 If you're crazy enough to want it then I use a Mooer Green Mile for an always-on subtle drive for 'no amp' gigs when I miss having my amp and a DOD 250 for actual overdrive.
10.
Crate bass combo. Truly awful. Not even much use as a crate. Closely followed by a Laney bass head.
Funny, I was just thinking the worst amp I ever owned in terms of it's condition etc was Crate BX80. 80 watts, 1x15" speaker, graphic eq. Was outmatched for a band situation when it was new and mine was around 65th-hand. The worst 'good amp' I ever owned was it's replacement, a Laney R5. 2x10" and 180W into those speakers, 300 with a cab. It should have been so much better, but it couldn't do anything in a live band context either. Such a shame, I bought a Laney R1 as a small amp at around the same time and I absolutely adore it and still have it 8 or so years on.
11. I got that the first was the 'nice' expensive Fender, but couldn't tell the others. Makes a good point though, they all sound >90% the same.
12. I've never owned a truly bad one, my Squier P would be the worst, but even that's great for the price. What I have learned though is not to buy that Epi Thunderbird I've been lusting over.
13.
Shame the link to the Dr Green pedals doesn't seem to work...
Does now
14. I have run it that way for about half an hour yesterday yes, but I won't any longer. Thanks Ham.
15. Thanks ham! Currently it is daisy-chained with two Mooer pedals but I suppose it's trivial to move it to an isolated output. If there's no noise or hum does it really matter?
16. Afternoon, I recently purchased an EHX Muff Overdrive, this one here. I have been using it on my Harley Benton 9V PSU, that essentially is designed for Boss pedals, I noticed on the Diago Compatibility Chart that my pedal has a +ve ground and as such needs an adapter. As someone with an extremely rudimentary electrical knowledge, can someone explain what this actually means for me? Do I need an adapter? Where's the damage in this system? Thanks, Jack
17. Out with GK, in with Barefaced. And GK. :-D Excuse crappy mobile pic, and for home practice I obviously allow cables to be trip hazard............
18.
because it's classed as a car rather than a van for insurance purposes, all of the rest of the guys can drive it on their own fully-comp insurance
You sure? Loaning cars can be a minefield. Google IN10 and IN12. Don't ask me how I know.

PSU Help?
Mk, that could work. Only other worry is that I also use a Hartke VXL which, according to the website, comes with a 200mA PSU and the Jnr only gives out 120mA. I can't find the actual max consumption of the VXL anywhere though. xx
The HB comes with a current doubler cable that lets you use two of the 5 outputs to power anything up to a 240mA pedal. Does it really need that much though? My MXR M80 which is a similar preamp/di box specifies <9mA in the manual. I have hard time believing the Hartke actually needs more than 22 times as much juice. As to the plug, I cut the EU plug off and ordered an IEC socket from thomann when I bought the pedal. It's a 5 min, no soldering job to replace and now I just use an amp IEC lead to plug the pedalboard in. Planned because the one thing bassists have loads of is amp power leads!
20. Owning a Land Rover (which I'm about to swap for a Navara) means I sometimes get stuck with the gear. Then again, guitarist1 has a Berlingo estate/minubus/van thing, the drummer a HUGE Ford estate, and guitarist2 and singer both drive and have decent cars. So I do make sure that everyone else gets stuck with the gear to. It's easy to sort it out sometimes. I hate the Land Rover on the motorway for instance and me and guitarist one both have to drive past our practice space in order to get to a regular gig we do in Blyth. So in return for him taking me in his van for free I help him load all of his stuff into the van at the practice space and unload after. I also never carry the PA (at least not when it's all in one place) because I'm the only one who can set it up and I'm the quickest to set up my rig too. It's all about sharing out duties surely? On another note: How the hell does the though process work where you think "I'd really like to join a band!" and you don't have transport? It's just stupid. Not being able to get to gigs or practices or auditions is as bad as not having an instrument.

Small amp

I think it's a bit small for what I'd consider those requirements to be. How loud do you need to be? Other instruments? PA support or not?
22. Generally headphones are more sensitive to this kind of thing. They're more full range and you tend to listen more closely to them compared to an amp that's halfway across the room. It may be entirely plausible that the P has always made noise and you've never noticed.
23. Would have a hard time buying an instrument online but for everything else I've used Thomann frequently, GAK a handful of times and stringbusters loads. Also bought strings from Status and I've never had to deal with customer service, but that's only because all of the orders have been hassle free.
24.
This was more or less demonstrated by their "6000W" amp which, if it actually produced that power running from UK mains, would have to operate at 200% efficiency.
What makes you say that? And what about other amps in that power range and above? And before you ask, yes I've done the math. On topic, we have a Behringer mixer that seems ok, but I wouldn't want any in my rig. Stuff has a bad reputation for being unreliable. Get a better head second hand, those GKs last forever, so do Peavey!
