1. The fan in my GK is annoying, has anyone replaced the fan in the MB Fusion?
2. Hello folks, due to incoming Barefaced action my current gigging cab and home practice amp are for sale. I'm based in Chester-le-Street, near Durham and Newcastle. Picking up is encouraged, as is paying with cash. For the right circumstances I'm happy to post or deliver and Paypal gift or bank transfer are cool too. EDIT - I would certainly be up for trades. I'm really looking at a cheap, giggable cabinet to leave in my rehearsal room. Peavey 4x10"? That Marshall 2x15" that's on here for cheap, pretty much anything that can be heard in a band room. Size/weight unimportant as long as it fits in my car for transport. Really wish I'd kept that damned Hartke! Will add cash to the Laney if that's what it takes. Laney R1 - £50 Pretty damn amazing little amp here. 65W, 1x10" speaker + hf. Normal/High inputs, compressor, 3-band eq with parametric mid and enhance control. DI, headphone and tuner outputs plus an effects loop. I always think it's small but perfectly formed and certainly I've never found it lacking in features or even volume (within reason of course). Perfect condition. To be honest I'm considering keeping this and I don't think there'll be much interest anyway but I thought I'd try. Hartke Transporter T410 - £70 - SOLD - Although now I'm wishing I hadn't, as a I have need for a cabinet just like it! Picked this up as a temporary cabinet whilst I was in between rigs but was actually incredibly surprised. It's a 4x10", which is means its pretty big and pretty loud. Sound is reasonably bright and mid-focused to my ear, but I hate trying to describe that kind of stuff online. What is definite is that this one has a few cosmetic marks from it's previous owners. NOTHING that affects the way the cabinet works at all. The cab also comes with 4 heavy duty casters and a cover that's had a pretty heavy relicing job. Despite the added value of said relic I'm throwing both it and the casters in with the cabinet. Bad points? Apart from the aforementioned tattyness the top-right speaker (when facing the cabinet) has been replaced with an identical Behringer driver. I've used one or two of these cabinets in my time and if the Behringer driver has changed the sound at all I can't tell. Hell, we all know Behringer steal other people's designs, it's probably the same exact speaker! From the Hartke site:

Four Hartke 10" TP Aluminum-Cone Bass Drivers
Power Handling: 300 Watts @ 8 Ohms
Frequency Response: 40 Hz To 4 kHz
Sensitivity: 96 dB @ 1 W/1 M
Dimensions: 24"(H) X 24"(W) X 15"(D)
Weight: 65 lb. 3. I have a compact but no midget. I've been told 'hopefully by the end of next week' which would make it a definite 11 weeks for the compact and estimated 12-13 for the midget.
4. Before I bought an amp with a tube pre I gave some serious thought to a Darkglass B7K.
5. I briefly had and loved the BA500h. There's a few threads on here about them including a review that I did and a general thread on promethean clones.
6. If it gets to the point where you need to buy something there are small boxes like the Presonus EQ3B (which has apparently been discontinued, but you get the idea) that sit in the effects loop of the amp.
7. I'm pretty sure the original would have been 8 ohm anyway, for the reasons stated by casapete.
8. Just a note to say that I inquired about 2 speakon cables a few weeks ago at Bassic Bits and was obviously quoted an amazing price. In my usualy mix of laziness, apathy and forgetfulness I didn't reply but I got an email from Barefaced saying my cabinets were going to arrive soon so I hurriedly emailed bassic bits back late on Sunday night (maybe even really early Monday morning) explaining that I'd really like my cables asap because otherwise I'd not be able to use my cabinets. Dave really came through for me and I had the cables Tuesday morning! It's my first time with Bassic Bits and even thought I only spent £30 I just feel that Dave went the extra mile. PS - My Barefaceds haven't arrived yet so I reserve the right to take all this back in case the cables don't work! Someone really should introduce Alex to Dave's method of calculating delivery times.
9. 300. I've been using it with a GK MB Fusion (350W @8 ohms) and the rehearsal space's Peavey Nitrobass (300W exactly at 8 ohms). EDIT - My Hartke knowledge is limited, but I think there's been more than one Transporter 4x10". Mine is a H410TP.
10. There's a 'Wanted' section in the marketplace here, maybe try there. I have a Hartke Transporter 4x10", 8 ohms. If you're interested. £75, but I'm not so sure you could find a decent head for £125..................
11.
The reason they don't is that the vast majority of players would not be willing to pay the added cost, lacking the understanding of how speakers work and therefore why a well designed and built cab is worth a lot more than a few drivers tossed into a box.
I thought that's all you guys did, stick a few speakers in a box and sell as many of them as possible? Sell some 4x10"s for the highs and 1x15" for the lows, right? You're telling me there's design involved?
12. I firmly believe they're the best and most consistent 'mass market' bass. On that note, 4 string, 2 band eq. Less is more. (says the man with a custom-ordered 5..................)
13.
I know! If only I knew someone local who had one to try...
BCers are always welcome at Casa del Jack.
14. Good suggestions folks, thanks. I am now considering a cheaper amp, why bother with the major brands when they're all just power amps at the end of the day. Well, warranty I guess, which is why I'm thinking the Thomann ones are the way forward.
15.
£1500 ?!! That 's an amazing deal! The 2011/12 U.K retail price on these was £2200 for a single H . May I ask , was that price for a brand new Reflex or an old stock 25TH Anniversary? I suppose either way , that's a fantastic price.
It was a HH, 4 string, maple fingerboard, vsb reflex. Special ordered for me by ProjectMusic. They have them advertised for £1923.33 now, whilst that is an increase over what they were at the time you could probably sort some kind of discount with the economy etc. Speak to Phill, I did. Edit, sorry having checked my emails it was £1599.
16. Wow, I was quoted £1500 a few months back. Wish I'd jumped now!
17. Hello folks. Band is looking for a PA, on my insistence we're each buying individual gear rather then having to worry about who gets what when we break up. I have made sure I get to buy the power amp because it's physically quite small ( ) and because I'll always have some use for it in the future, in a rack rig or whatever. We have 2 Peavey 2x15" cabinets. They're actually PV215s, although they look a bit older. They probably aren't the best, but we got an amazing deal on them. I'd have preferred proper tops on stands but you play the cards your dealt eh? Amps! I was thinking about something like a second-hand RMX2450, but for the £200-£300 they go for there are some pretty nice deals on new amps. Just looking at Thomann shows the Behringer (shudder) iNuke, the 3000 puts out an a supposed 900 a side at 4ohms, reviews suggest this is more like 600, but that's enough for me. There's also Thomann's own amp which looks great on paper too, 910W a side. Does anyone use amps like these? What about other 'off' brands? Thanks in advance! Jack
18.
The venues will be small(ish) pubs,
Cool.
where 100W per side will be ample.
Really? Is this your first foray into this kind of stuff? I don't mean to sound condescending, it's an honest question. Do you know that 100W a side is enough? If you do because it's replacing your current system for example then fair enough.
19. The Tecamp Bad Cab. 2 tweeters, 4 tens, 2 twelves and 2 fifteens. 2400W power handling but if that's not enough it's available as a special order in 8ohms, so you can use 2 with most amps. Edited: forgot about the tweeters.
20. A Soundcraft Compact Mixer. Bass goes in, either from a DI box, my amp's DI, or just straight in. Line out from pc goes in for practicing along to mp3s etc. Then there's headphones (need some good ones) and the recording out goes back to my pc to record tracks.
21. I've been gassing for a MM preamp pedal for a while now. Would it be easy to remove the blend so I can use it in a maplins metal box?
22. Just to make you feel better, I'm now a week overdue. I did hum and har for a bit, but Alex assured me I hadn't lost my place in the queue.
23. Funny you should say that, I own 4 basses, 2 Ps and 2 rays.
