Gojira Pedals.

Is there a product list anywhere? I'm fancying a boost and a mild OD.
2. Whilst Lurksalot's Warwick Rig may not be anywhere near you, it demonstrates the sheer amount and quality of rig you can find your budget. I'd certainly recommend a decent 300-500W amp with a medium-large format cab like a decent 4x10" or a 2x12". If you have a look on here, gumtree or ebay and find something you think you like then feel free to ask us if it's any good.
3. Or you could look at it that the very mid-focused Stingray would be one of the few basses that would balance that amp out nicely. What do you want a new amp to do that yours doesn't?
4. Rickenbackers and USA Fenders. Paying custom shop, small company, hand-built money for mass-produced basses. My Fender sees more use in my band, and it's not a bad instrument by any standards, but new there's only a few hundred pounds in the price between that and my Stingray which is twice the bass in terms of materials, fit and finish.
5. I've got £150 or so, but if I was to go with a separate dac I'd need to share that between the dac and the mixer.
6. Hey guys, first of all I couldn't decided if this belonged here or in 'Misc Gear' so sorry if it's wrong and please do move it if necessary, mods. I currently have a small Soundcraft Compact 4 that I use with my pc. I use it for playing along to music and youtube videos, with both the pc and my bass pedalboard plugged in and with headphones. What I would like to do is swap it for a usb mixer that uses a digital connection to do the back and forwards between the pc and mixer. This is because the onboard sound on my pc isn't brilliant and I'd like to use the mixer essentially as a DAC. Generally, even if I'm not playing bass I'm using the mixer to listen to music so I'd love a decent sound. Would the mixer give decent sound quality? Which mixers are y'all using? I'm looking at the Peavey PV 6 USB at the moment, can anyone offer an improvement for a similar price? Thanks, Jack
7. I've had a Deepressor for about a year or so and I really, really like it. I bought it from Thomann. Good pedals but, as has been said, lousy enclosure.
8.
With a Y cable the amp will "see" 4ohms if using two 8 ohm cabs. Sorted. That's my plan with the MB200.
Honestly, don't bother. Just go from the amp to cab 1, then from cab 1 cab 2. See the bit about 'MESA Cabinet Parallel Outputs'.
9.
The 500 is more versatile in that you can connect two cabs.
You can definitely connect two cabs to the 200 as well, you just have to have a cab with 2 parallel inputs.
10. You can refinish it, just as long as it's done by a professional. :-)
11. Yeah, hence the 'if you're that desperate' part. Wireless it is then!
12. James if it helps at all, the compact + midget is the best set up I've ever had the pleasure of using. Of course, I never use it as either cab covers pretty much any gig I do by themselves.
13. If you really need more bass then feel free to stick your cabinet right in a corner. However like others have said I don't think that's your problem. Generally if you really cant fix it with eq, then it's the room and you're just weeing in the wind. Get a wireless or a long cable and see how it sounds elsewhere. Hell, just get your guitarist to play your bass whilst you do a walk for a bit if you're that desperate. Bet you it sounds better than you think out front. Failing that, man up. Some rooms just suck for bassists! :-P
14. Seems a bit easier to plug the cab into the combo surely? Yes, it's as simple as plugging that short cable into your head though. Obviously, for this the combo doesn't need to be turned on. You can make extension cables easily, however you admitted you are not technically minded so may I suggest http://bassic-bits.co.uk ? What you need isn't listed, but I bet you obbm would happily make you one at an extremely good price.
15.
Do you mean the classic p-bass split coil pickup?
I did. It seems however that the OP is very happy with the inherent sound of his bass now that he has his pickup heights sorted. Ps will never be the bassiest basses around (well, not a 'standard' passive Fendery type one anyway) but they are just perfect for pretty much most things. Pleased you're happy jonsmith.
16. What you have to realise here, is that it's not a particularly 'low' low end on the P and that's just that. That passive P humbucker right where it is gives good thump and low-mid push but no real sub lows. Try a different pickup? Maybe a DiMarzio, or an octave pedal set just so. Compressor? None of this changes the real answer though, you're fighting against the tide.
17. In theory, a bass pod or similar modelling piece of kit replaces some or all of your effects and the preamp part of your amplifier. You either run straight into the effect return of your head or into a pa style power amp. Of course, if you don't fancy the amp modelling it's perfectly possible to run them into the instrument input of any amp. A 4 space rack with a bass pod rackmount and 2 space power amp such as the Peavey IPR series would effectively be a very powerful and very versatile bass amp. It's possible, by virtue of massive power amp ratings and crazy effects (particularly compressors ad octavers) to chew through cabinets. As ever, the ONLY hard and fast rule with regards to power handling is listen (hard!) and turn down if anything sounds strained.
18. I feel your pain mate, I had trouble selling mine on here too. The problem is that they're too inexpensive to really make postage worthwhile. I'll see if i can PM the people interested in mine. In the meantime, keep it! I did!
19. Definitely a P or J shape. As has already been mentioned, you need custom parts in order to customise and there are LOADS of Fenderish and Fender replacement parts.
20. Good review Jellyfish, thanks for the link. Is the cable straight? I read somewhere that it was coiled. Mine will pull double duty as music headphones, how do they handle being plugged into a pc with itunes-type software?
21. I once mentioned that one of his basses was perfect except too heavily reliced. To my surprise I received an email expressing his thanks that I liked his work and it included an offer to build me a very similar bass reliced (or not) to my taste for a VERY good price. Top man, very good basses and to this day I'm thinking about taking him up on his offer. The point is, he'll build you a slab without the relic, or in with less relic, or in bubblegum pink cadillac paint if that's what you want.

Going bare

I can certainly see that someone would miss the HF horn when using just a compact. It's a real drawback but as we know, Alex has his reasons. Thankfully, I'm nit the kind of person who uses a horn (most of the time, I miss it on occasion having moved from GK's biamp system) but if you do there are the 'super' and 'big' series, hell you can even get a Midget with a horn these days.
23. Hello fellow North Easterners! My Hohner Jack needs some wires, probably some new pots, and a few new pieces of plastic. Can anyone recommend a guitar tech in the area (Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland) that would be able to oblige? I had the name of a local tech who I was all set to go for but he seemed not bothered, never open, wouldn't email back, didn't even have his address on his website. I shall refrain from mentioning his name here because he didn't actually give me bad service or a bad job, it was just lousy pre-sales. Thanks, Jack
24. Love mine. Good cases, good people.
25. GK? Any of the RB II heads would be below budget either new or second hand. The micros second hand too,
