Just noticed it's the SVT410HLF cab and not the more expensive B410HLF cab...........still, it's not a bad deal. see here...http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=9693 S

In line with new gear being sold cheaply, has anyone been tempted with GAK's current Ampeg offer ?? Its a B2RE head and 410HLF cab. Seems a cheap rig to me at £679. At 450 watts, it'd be loud enough for most situations, and don't Ampeg carry a 5 year warranty on new gear ?? Mmmmm. Keep your eyes peeled for my Series 6 Trace Rig for sale soon........perhaps. S

Surprised Mr Tayste is not all over this one ...............but it is a lot of dosh, and he won't be able to afford it on the £150 down and £5 a month I'm going to offer him for his EA cabs !!! Seriously Ste, I so wish I could have these cabs, but unless you want your Bongo back I'm broke ( 3 week French vacation for 5 and two storey extension happening all in the next 9 months.........aaaaaaaargggghh - get me another gig quick. ) S

I have the USA version of this bass, exactly the same neck and finish. Great bass - very, very underated, it's recently become my no.1 go to bass over my SR5 and Bongo HS5. What is it with non Fender badged Fenders that make them so good. I think Leo was just trying to prove the J and P weren't flukes. S

FENDER 1961 JAZZ BASS STACK KNOB. WITH OHSC

I remember this lot trying to sell a used EBMM StingRay 5'er for £1800, price premium because the black scratchplate had been replaced with a clear one ( £35 tops ) and it was ex-name band - turned out it was ex Reef. All due respect, but it's hardly ex- Jack Bruce ! I didn't lay my hands on that one................ I'll get my coat............................................... S -
A bump and some info. I kinda took a little crush on this bass, but really, really HATE green LEDS, sad I know, but there you go. I actually contacted Status to see how much it would cost to change them, and, wait for this...........the front and side LEDS are a £650, yes thats six hundred and fifty pounds, upgrade, I was quoted more than that to change them. The person I spoke to at Status thought this bass, with this spec was an absolute steal at this price, ( list was well over two g's, closer to £2.6k IIRC ) so someone snap up a cracking bass at a great price. I wish I was colour blind, I really do. Best of luck mate, and have a kindly bump on me. Stewart

I had Ashdown carry out a major repair / overhaul / upgrade to a power amp I owned once......cost more than £200 ( I know, I know ) and according to an electrical engineer chum of mine it is an absolute disgrace, mismatched power supplies, shoddy wiring, etc, etc. He was genuinely appaled. Oh and it still hummed, and then broke down again within two months. I was so disgusted it eventually went in the bin. Will never ever buy Ashdown amps again. S

We had this situation in a well known and used wedding venue in Glasgow which shall remain nameless called St Andrews in the Square. We are a nine pieces Soul/funk/disco type band. We had a long chat with the manageress, and after showing her that an alto sax played acoustically was going to set off her meter, she was very accomodating ( oooooohhhheerrrrr missus ). We worked with her to get a REASONABLE solution that worked for all parties concerned and she loved us and has recommended us for future work, so far we've had about 3 or 4 bookings from her. Having said that we have also played in places where the manager was a complete twonk and didn't give a tuppeny cuss about the band our how well the evening was going to go as soon as dinner was out of the way. In those cases we make it perfectly clear to the brides mother ( who lets face it is the boss on the night, right ?? ) what is happening and why she can hear Granny snoring over the top of YMCA, it's normally entertainment enough for the band to watch her in full on angry action with aforesaid twonk !! I think the Jamerson / Kaye thing is a WHOLE BIG topic on it's own. Looking at some US sites they get VERY het up over it. S

I always take a spare.............I now play mostly weddings and big corporate stuff, so the way I look at is is these folks are paying top dollar for my band, so I treat it a bit like work and make sure I always have the tools to get the job done. I don't normally take a spare rig, but I always go through the PA, so even if my amp went south it'd be ok. In 33 years of playing I've only broken one string ever ( a G too funnily enough ), but that was some 25 years ago ( at a showcase in the Marquee in London - you tend to remember these things !!!! ). Having said that, the batteries in my Bongo died mid set a month back, was I glad I had my StingRay with me. Just imagine how much a tool you'd feel if summat went tits up, and you've got a lovely selection of basses to change to, BUT THEY'RE ALL AT HOME !!!!! Nightmare. Oh I also make sure the spare in onstage and tuned up ready to go. I never change mid set ( no time ) but do sometimes swap over at the break just to keep our sound man on his toes ! Stewart

I have three girls, Katy is 8, plays violin ( just passed her grade one ) and the obligatory recorder, she sings in the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Junior Chorus, Hannah is 6 also plays violin, recorder AND is learning piano too, and sings in the same choir as Katy, but she really wants to dance.....Lucy is 3, she just loves making noise. A bit like her Dad. Oh, shouldn't leave out Mum, who not surprisingly is a music teacher !! S

Reverb are offering a 20% discount on EVERYTHING in their shops...........don't know how long it lasts, but it clearly states EVERYTHING IN THE SHOP - NO EXCEPTIONS ( their words not mine ) so I reckon that over a cool ton off one if you can find one in stock somewhere..............get on the blower. S

Get a Roady Wrench................lots of useful Allen keys on it ( one fits the StingRay - well it fits mine anyway !! Also the string cutters work, even for bass strings. Only cost about a tenner iirc. S

A wee BUMP for those who still might want to add their $.02 worth. Also - why are Bartolini pups getting no love, I thought - by reputation - they were modern sounding quality pups ?? Someone correct me here ! S

Guys, you are all stars................I'm pretty sure this ISN'T a gas attack, but when I look at those Sei's...........man they look good. The Status also looks gorgeous too. Was gigging last night and messed around with my eq a bit - don't often get a chance to do that live, but I made the effort. On the StingRay I kept bass and treble flat ( centre indent ) , dropped the middle, but on the amp boosted the middle eq in a kinda reverse smile ( is that a frown then ?? ). This sounded good especially for Chic and funky type songs and I could hear myself much better too. Interestingly when I flattened the mid control on the bass ( which was boosting it to flat ) and lowering the eq setting, it just didn't sound the same although I thought it might. On thinking I suppose all the frequencies are different. Next step will be new strings this week, with this new EQ setting. Thanks so far..................... Stewart
HeHe... I have the 2x10 Traveller cab on top of the mini 15 combo... My drummer's wife says it looks like "Monkeee!"
LOL...........it DOES look like a monkey........a black curly wig on there and you're laughing. R.e. Status.............I've never played one, had a very quick play of one of Ped's graphite necked baases and was surprised how organic it felt, very nice. And I did look at that Status with a good deal of lust, I like besses with heads on. R.e. Seis........isn't the Bartolini a very modern sounding pickup ??? Mire of options.........I like that, good name for a band too. Stewart
