Talking about their naming convention.........I was amused to see that the Blue Glass range is actualy a range of country type instruments...............now what's that banjo oriented c&w'ish genre called, ah Blue Gr.............. Apologies to any Korean visitors to the site, I'm not a racist, just had a Bill Murray moment. S

I think he's dreaming...
I always thought the MAG range was the budget range, wth the ABM being more up market. Don't know a lot about Ashdown but this does seem a tad pricey. Anyone any idea how much these were / are new ?? S

That's what I though too, but I imagined with all the leccy gubbins out there I might have been able to replicate on my trusty basses. The though of playing with a "strap on" leaves me filled with dread, for reasons too numerous to mention. S

Righty, Athough having owned a POD XT PRO ( take a bow Sir Ped ) I ditched it in favour of a nice clean sound which I now have and love. However, my band is doing some more funky stuff and I feel I'd like to add to the sound palette. Trouble is I don't know the first thing about FX, or what does what tbh. The sound I'm after is like this......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_vCOOW_BsE I'm not even going to try to describe it cause I'll probably get it wrong, and send you all off on a wild goose chase, so if you'd be good enough to have a quick listen to it and let me know I'd be grateful. I noticed some guys using the EBS Bassiq pedal, would that do this ?? thanks in advance, all advice welcome. Stewart

I am constantly amazed at the number of really good musicians who just can't dance or who seem to have no sense of movemment. Me, I'm a GREAT dancer.........now what does THAT say about my playing S

I was looking at one of those Thomann systems but with the pack instead of the bug..............I think the pack gives a higher output and therefore would be a stronger signal. For the money, and given Thomanns money back g'tee, a 3 year warranty AND their excellent reputation, it's not really much of a gamble. S

Getting some flatwounds need some opinions
bassbluestew replied to markdavid's topic in Accessories and Misc
Have been using the Overwater flats for a wee while now and I really like them. They are different from the TI Jazz flats, more middly and modern sounding but still nice and rich and round sounding. Should have mentioned the price, they are around £25 delivered for a 5 string set which is bloody good value for a set like this. S -

I've just put some Overwater flats on my Bongo..................sounds great, a bit more tension than the TI's I have on my G&L L2500, but still really nice to play. They only do them in medium gauge at the moment, but they feel good. The higher tension makes them sound a wee bit more "modern" too, meaning for the disco/funk stuff I play I can boost the top end a wee bit and play octaves and 16ths to my hearts content and they punch nicely through the mix, but I still have a really smooth sounding bottom end. They are also extremely comfortable to play, but don't feel just as luxurious as the TI's ( the higher tension again I think as they are just as smooth ) but they ARE almost half the price. I think Overwater charge around £25 for a 5 string set ( including delivery ). Deffo worth a try for flat fans. S -
Was browsing t'bay as is my wont, and I came across these............. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...s_promot_widget I was looking for fret lights and found this company who make light up sctratchplates.......they had a pic of P with one on and I can't decide if it's really cool or the tackiest thing I've ever seen ! S

Given that it has a few custom options ( the colour and the binding ) I don't think the price is OTT. It looks in great nick and is a killer bass. I have the 5 string version ( ( L-2500 - strung with TI Jazz Flats ) and it's my "go to" bass........it's just sooooooo comfortable to play and with a great range of sounds.......even with the flats on. You might pick up one a little cheaper, I know a couple of folks on here have picked them up really cheaply, but you might not get a nicer one. At the end of the day these things are only worth what you want to pay, but at £700 it's certainly not outrageous. Stewart

musicman stingray 5 rosewood or maple fretboards
bassbluestew replied to ian's topic in Bass Guitars
+1 for Maple. I have maple on both my StingRay 5 and G&L L-2500 ( both "Fender derived" ) and they are the Poodles Plums. Having said that, I may just be about to pull the trigger on another Fender derivitive with a rosewood neck. Now, I am a big, sweaty guy, and I've NEVER had a problem with dirty necks, the StingRay is 12 years old, the G&L about 18, both look fine. I only have to look at a camera lens and it's covered in greasy fingerprints !! There you go, maybe the grease keeps them clean ! S -

I've found it to cut through really nicely with my G&L 2500, but needed a very little tweak using my stingray ( both 5'ers btw ). You must remember this was using my Mesa/Boogie 400+, an amp not renowned for a pronounced mid range !! If it was just a little bit smaller and lighter my arthritic joints would cope and I wouldn't be selling it at all. In fact if I could g'tee every load in was flat, I'd deffo keep it. It's a killer cab. S

Ok so you are probably bored with my medical history by now, so I'll spare you the details. This is an amazing cab, full specs are here - http://www.bassonsound.com/b210b.htm That's right, 500 watts at 4ohm, tuned down to a bowel moving 28hz. Just stunning. I regularly use this cab on it's own with the MesaBoogie 400+ and it sounds amamzing ( I play in a 9 piece soul/funk/disco corporate band ) and this cab has completely restored my faith in the 2x10 format. It is by far and away the best 2x10 I have ever used or heard. It's bigger than most 2x10's but OMG it's worth it. In very good condition with the optional castors ( you could put them on your car ), this is a stunning cab for only £200. Stewart

As you will see from my other ad, I am very reluctantly moving on equipment I can no longer manage to move. Ain't arthritis a bitch Anyway, this is the older style cab with ( the preferred ) Celestion drivers, and is rated 4ohms at 1200 watts so its a beast of a cab. Cosmetically it's seen better days, although I stress it's not a shed. It could just do with some tidying up. If that's your thing. I play corporate gigs with it and it's ok for that level. Sonically it's A1. I'll get it out of the back of the van and take some snaps soon as I'm able. Yours for £300. Stewart
