1.
Would look even better with a white one. I would probably have this off you if I could sell a couple of my basses and get some money. However, nothing is selling at the moment so I'm a bit stuck I'm afraid.
No worries, everythings stuck in limbo at the moment. Don't suppose you've tried flats on your 2eq? I was thinking of getting some TI's for it and wearing them into a warm dub tone
2. This would look great with an clear pickguard...
3. What components (if any) would you mod Tom? Wonder who's going to be the first to try fitting a fender scratchplate...
4. Gotta trust Tom on this one - I've ordered a sonic blue one, may get the first red one too...maybe white??
5. If I had the money i'd be interested, I thought these were passive though
6. Ok PM me if you need it posted and i'll get something sorted for an extra £20
7. Rocco Prestia and Jeffrey Hammond. Glascock's been mentioned
8.
how does this sound acoustically ? and what are you asking cash wise ? It might be me but it seems to be a little unclear in your post. Ta very glad BIGd
Hi BigD, Sounds great acoustically as its semi hollow so its got some great body to it on chords, I've been using it mostly as a song writing guitar which usually leads to playing Freebird . Plugged in the neck pickup is fantastic for blues and has some southern character when used with the bigsby. The neck pickup is a crisp crunch sound ACDC esque and the pickups are lovely n quiet so its not the best for Ted Nugent feedback tricks like he does his deep semi hollow ES-137. Very much a mix of a Gibson ES-335 and a Les Paul but with a comfier neck and better intonation, the build quality is a match. I'm after £600 as its as new, best of 3 from a high street shop costing £950 and I paid £100 for a pro setup and I can also string it with a new set of Dean Markley 10's. If my Stingray goes I'm keeping it. Kind Regards Oli Matt EDIT: Just tried to find a video on Youtube for you but they're still poor apart from the chap playing the singlecut version on my original ad above unfortunately
9.
Cheers bud. Are you still in Carlisle?
I'm in Cardiff University for half the year, other half i'm on my hols back in a place called Burgh just outside. Not many Carlisle bassists on here though, I think theres only two others - Martin who works for Overwater n owns a pretty Progress III and another BCer comes to mind that owns a couple of lovely Overwater Jazzes like yours and an Evolution. I'm the odd one out I'll own an Overwater one day when the moneys good . I know a Phil Rogers back home, but that can't be you cos hes a Thunderbird player. Best o luck with the sale! Shouldn't be a hard sell BCers are crazy for Super J's :gas
10.
How the he&^ is this still here?
Snap! +1
11. You should get a good one, i'm a fretless player and I really didn't rate the squier one - if your a jaco fan get Linus' jap one up for sale at £400 the body is alder!
12. Gorgeous, nice to see another Carlisle bassist
13. Final bump before I look into postage!
14. The best looking dingwall there is, don't think the pics do it justice, they're much darker in the flesh.
15. I can't even imagine 29 in a room!! I've already got three, I couldn't convince the parents to take another. Best pets though, especially if you want company watching the sunday night NFL
16. Someone near Cumbria must need a bit o fretless umph...
17. This ones a great first bass for enthusiastic beginners, highly recommended
18.
As Schnozzer's link shows I'm a previous owner of this. I really regret selling it, if I didn't have my 'fretless' cash tied up in a SR5 fretless - currently with Mr Shuker having a full service and set up, I might be turning it into cash to buy this back. Good luck with the sale.
Thanks Mart, I'm sure the SR5 will play as smooth as butter after Jon's given it a going over! Would be a pleasure to return the 4 to a previous owner though . Looks like postage is needed to get this one moving PMs replied!
19. Threads already done twice before but your on the money with the Mike Dirnt Sig
20. I've recently taken this in part exchange for my Marleaux and stored it while i'm at University. As close as you going to get to the Pino model for under £1500ish...or whatever the price of one of them is, but yeah one for the Paul Young fans!! Lightweight 2008 Musicman Stingray 4 String Translucent Honey Burst Finish Black Pickguard Unlined Fretless Pau Ferro Fingerboard (But with sidemarkers where the frets should be, rather than in the middle) Old Skool Focused 2eq Preamp Excellent condition with musicman hardshell case This has been kept within the basschat community so its fantastically well looked after. I'm not bothered about keeping this one as my achilles heel is a fretless - I am trying to switch to guitar though! I've played an unlined fretless before and you only look at the side of the neck anyway, a weeks practice and a lot of its down to muscle memory too so fear not! The change is minimal and less hassle than changing from a 34" to 35" scale or 4 to 6 strings in my experience and honest opinion. The pricing's in good old traditional basschat style (same as previous owner) at a keen £600 collected from Carlisle PM me to sort £20 P&P Closeup photos: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...nlined+stingray Up to date photos from previous owners thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...nlined+stingray Pino Palladino comparison: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eugenevoorneman/4005858538/ Tone and Paul Young Video just for fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BkGCkwJCWE
21.
As I suspect you know, Owen, I bought Schnozzalee's Bravewood ( http://tinypic.com/a/20gg7/3 ) and I've never yet regretted it ... excellent build quality and superb tone. I did find a way to improve it though. I fitted a John East P-Retro. Enjoy.
Twas'ni mine!! Think it belonged to a chap called Ben from Bath, I sold the '56 Telebass to Jimijimmi. I think i'd prefer an un-relic'd vintage style Bravewood but with the crazing of the nitro and dulled hardware. Fantastic and flawless basses hands down.
22. Always wanted to try one of these, the grain is very eye catching on this one
