1. Final bump before I look into postage!
2. The best looking dingwall there is, don't think the pics do it justice, they're much darker in the flesh.
3. I can't even imagine 29 in a room!! I've already got three, I couldn't convince the parents to take another. Best pets though, especially if you want company watching the sunday night NFL
4. Someone near Cumbria must need a bit o fretless umph...
5. This ones a great first bass for enthusiastic beginners, highly recommended
6.
As Schnozzer's link shows I'm a previous owner of this. I really regret selling it, if I didn't have my 'fretless' cash tied up in a SR5 fretless - currently with Mr Shuker having a full service and set up, I might be turning it into cash to buy this back. Good luck with the sale.
Thanks Mart, I'm sure the SR5 will play as smooth as butter after Jon's given it a going over! Would be a pleasure to return the 4 to a previous owner though . Looks like postage is needed to get this one moving PMs replied!
7. Threads already done twice before but your on the money with the Mike Dirnt Sig
8. I've recently taken this in part exchange for my Marleaux and stored it while i'm at University. As close as you going to get to the Pino model for under £1500ish...or whatever the price of one of them is, but yeah one for the Paul Young fans!! Lightweight 2008 Musicman Stingray 4 String Translucent Honey Burst Finish Black Pickguard Unlined Fretless Pau Ferro Fingerboard (But with sidemarkers where the frets should be, rather than in the middle) Old Skool Focused 2eq Preamp Excellent condition with musicman hardshell case This has been kept within the basschat community so its fantastically well looked after. I'm not bothered about keeping this one as my achilles heel is a fretless - I am trying to switch to guitar though! I've played an unlined fretless before and you only look at the side of the neck anyway, a weeks practice and a lot of its down to muscle memory too so fear not! The change is minimal and less hassle than changing from a 34" to 35" scale or 4 to 6 strings in my experience and honest opinion. The pricing's in good old traditional basschat style (same as previous owner) at a keen £600 collected from Carlisle PM me to sort £20 P&P Closeup photos: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...nlined+stingray Up to date photos from previous owners thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...nlined+stingray Pino Palladino comparison: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eugenevoorneman/4005858538/ Tone and Paul Young Video just for fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BkGCkwJCWE
9.
As I suspect you know, Owen, I bought Schnozzalee's Bravewood ( http://tinypic.com/a/20gg7/3 ) and I've never yet regretted it ... excellent build quality and superb tone. I did find a way to improve it though. I fitted a John East P-Retro. Enjoy.
Twas'ni mine!! Think it belonged to a chap called Ben from Bath, I sold the '56 Telebass to Jimijimmi. I think i'd prefer an un-relic'd vintage style Bravewood but with the crazing of the nitro and dulled hardware. Fantastic and flawless basses hands down.
10. Always wanted to try one of these, the grain is very eye catching on this one
11. Noooo!!! I can't do it this time only have part exchange fodder. Kevin's a fantastic guy to deal with and these Bravewood basses are flawless, really miss mine I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Gutted!!
12. I played the same bass in Cardiff Cranes today, and its a P bass... The film comes off, and i thought it looked better without 'basslines' on it, the black hardware doesn't look good though and american standard black/black maple would look better...did I mention it was a P bass?? The changes are so minimal I don't quite understand why Fender bothered.
13. Whats so great about adding a status neck to a stingray?? Sorry for hijacking!
14. Does look fab, stain that thumb rest! I like the vintage look as well but this look stands out more - thanks for posting, gives me an idea what your Dingwall's going to look like
15. Does it have the ashtrays/pickup covers as well?
16. Having said that I have taken flats off a P because it wasn't warm enough! My short scale EB3 really needs them though, both sounded great afterwards so i'd take the plunge personally, you can always keep the flats for later use
17. Yeah something like that definately needs flatwounds, I hate a wooly tone personally and it was what put me off precisions for ages until I tried a bravewood. Only thing is, if you thinking of getting rid theres a dillemma for paying out 30-40 quid on some flats
18. I've been living in Cardiff two years going on three but I have nothing here to bring to a bass bash at current
19. Love the P/J configuration one! They've finally lined the pickups up with the bridge!!! I was expecting you to say rosewood and tort for the finish to go with the Squier CV. That's gonna be a great sounding bass
20. Carribean sea blue, it wouldn't have suited a matching headstock. I don't like the EMG's having the screws in the centre of the pickup, thats where I rest my thumb, no matter since its a five - i'd rest on the B string. I'd like an active/passive bypass switch for the electronics, they also say that spectors have little mid-range presence but thats just what i've heard, never tried one. I've always loved the tone Alice in Chains, Ian Hill and Dave La Rue have got out their Spectors but for me they get trumped by the dull funky MECs of a Warwick. Warwicks however more often than not look pants in comparison to a Spector IMO. ...I've just monged out so I think its past my bedtime
21. +1 the figuring on the fretboard is pretty darn immense!! Olive wood should be used more, first time i've ever stopped scrolling to stare at a headstock pic
22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a4-pHFEZWI...feature=related Little video showing off the Sterling tones/finish. I reckon this would look great with a white pickguard, used to not like blue basses too but after seeing Dave La Rue play one similar to this I changed my mind.
