Bravewood Tele
Schnozzalee replied to Owen's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
I didn't like the relic'ing on mine, didn't look good up close - fantastic guitars though. If I had that kinda money I'd stretch for a second custom Charvel, I wouldn't pay more that £1100 for a Bravewood past that is 2nd hand Fender Custom territory. Nice heads up though, I saw a strat on Ebay recently for £1500 -
ESP are fantastic, even the ugly ones are flawless on build. I've not come across a heavy one yet, fortunately. Wouldn't mind the Sunburst P/J at all!

Some videos showing the Paramount series' versatility in all genres. These are all singlecut versions - the doublecut looks far better in my honest opinion! Only the last chap has the top model fitted with Licensed Bigsby and has removed the pickup covers. Dimarzios and Glockenlang - I'd choose the same for myself

Thats mental!! Great idea though! Especially for fingerstyle players . I'm intrigued to see what the source of the GAS is to make you sell all your toys!?? Do enjoy reading through your ads, particularly the bits about cheapskate offers lol, gumtrees most entertaining these days "love your pricing but i'm not around to collect! could you please send it to my son at: Mr Prince of N*geria..."

This has a 50's Vintage style Fender neck for those who are asking! I'm a precision bass guy with small hands and I prefer wider necks because I tend to trip over my own fingers doing chord shapes etc, its fast another for me because I don't shred on any of my guitars - Judas Priest is fast enough for me

BASS POLL -Your opinion greatly appreciated!
Schnozzalee replied to All thumbs's topic in Bass Guitars
Bass 1 (the Richwood) sounds incredible to me, the warwick trumps it on slap tone but it would being 34" scale as you need the tension. I'm a fingerstyle player and I love that a lot! -
I dunno, if the action was low i'd probably be happy to pay £90, i'm sure its mint condition too. I have one exactly the same (although not professionally setup) and I think its fantastic quality for the price and i'd only upgrade for an American Standard and skip everything in between. I've switched to guitar now but when I fill in on bass (after owning 20 odd at anything from £100 to £2600) the Ryder and my Roland Cube30 does everything I want at band practice. Skims £100 off a beginner bass without setup too! EDIT: I understand the scepticism on these basses too as I wasn't convinced by the Squier Classic Vibes being made out of Basswood (even though their massive praise!!) so when these were found out to be Alder I jumped on it.

Love the thicker necks on these, great for fiddly chords!! I have tiny hands and 50's style bass/guitar necks are so much more comfortable, I've had a jazz bass and an Ibanez Wizard neck and I was forever tripping over my own fingers and getting cramp. I think the bigger necks sustain better but thats only from my experience!

Gus Basses - Anyone tried them? What are they like?
Schnozzalee replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Bass Guitars
I think they look uuuuuugly!! And not in a good way (I usually go for ugly unusual stuff eg. Kubicki etc) but I don't doubt for a second that they're sh*t-hot on playability/build and tone. I think an entirely chrome one would definately look better, although i do kinda like Big RedX's...Big Red one... -

Gibson Thunderbird Short Scale - Limited run of 400
Schnozzalee replied to farmer61's topic in Bass Guitars
I hate Matt black anything but the one above looks fine with the Pickguard. I love the sound of Gibson Basses just the balance issues/ 3 point bridge are a hassle to resolve, but I still prefer the tone over a fender - even though i'm a P fan flatwound eb3's are incredible sounding basses second to none (IMO!) -

Marleaux basses, weigh nothing and I always have back problems. I was comfortable with an EB3 and a Kubicki also but the Marleaux was by far the nicest bass i've EVER had
Have you checked out the Blackstar 1W series? Ideal for home practice and great tone. Also only around £100, so you could get away with keeping both the guitars.
Ooo thankyou I hadn't seen one of those!! I'm glad I didn't buy one of those Vox headphone plugins!! I will be getting one of those in the near future and i'm aiming to get an amp towards 30-50w in the distant future for band practice. Unfortunately I was planning to fund myself with a Government Grant on my PGCE teaching course next year but as those have now gone i've gotta push for a sale on both and keep my fingers crossed I can keep my Charvel!
Sweeeeet....
Thank you , tis indeedy! But I don't have an amplifier to play it through . I've been going to my guitarist friends house to play it through a Fender Champ XD and a Blackstar HT40 and it sounds fab but the reason for the sale is so I can get my own! Neither the G&L or the ESP have any issues - just desperately need an amp!
