* Fender Precison body (wear, but told it was aged in factory) * Fender Jazz neck (no discernable wear) * from Fender's custom USA factory * probably early 90's * with hard case, doubt its original * $999 + sales tax of around 10%
So what you have is a BITSA bass and no guarantee that any of it is genuinely Custom Shop USA (or does it have a certificate?). For all you know the body could be from a MIA/MIF/MIM bass and the neck could equally be from any country of origin; unless you know a bit about Fenders this could be a very nice mongrel bass which on the one hand could be worth every penny but conversely could be something you could put together yourself for less money! I'd personally ask myself if the bass 'feels' and sounds like it is the one for me and what price you put on that is what you can afford. However, don't forget that when you bring it back into the UK you'll be paying approx 20% duty on what you paid for it!
The fingerboard doesn't stop at the nut on any of my Fenders - and the thicker the fingerboard the further it extends beyond the nut. Are there basses (or guitars) where it does stop at the nut?
Like the Spectors, the fingerboard stops at the nut on NT Warwick basses.
Wow.. you're a cynical lot. Maybe a bloke has just pegged it and his family want to sell his stuff?
I'd like to believe that but experience says that an account dormant since April with 0% feedback that suddenly lists multiple instruments worth £thousands, where the pics appear to be random (if at all) and the listing info is a cut and paste job identical for all and as has been pointed out the by now legendary 'dearly departed, please take care of these items, I'm no expert etc.'... hang on a minute MB, you're just sitting in the house bored and trying to get a rise out of us! -

I love the fact that the pics that he/she does have are all taken in different rooms/locations! Who's going to be the first to ask if they can go and check out 'in person', the Marcus Miller Jazz? -
thanks for the warning but im more than sure that £38 is all i have to pay, i have the receipt with it all listed and ive spoken to the UPS people. i think it all depends what the declared value is............ thats all im sayin
A nudge is as good as a wink...
SCORE! Any reason why it slipped through the net?
Just been thinking; slipped through the net SO FAR might be more apt! I one got a bass from the States and I has well chuffed when I didn't get clattered with a big bill... till it arrived 3 weeks later. Turns out one or two couriers to speed the process of delivery up, sort out all the nasty stuff after it's been delivered. Not saying it is in this case but don't go spending any funds you have put aside to pay the expected duty.
i only paid £38 Duty and vat for it too!
Now that is a result!
I have recently got hold of a washburn B-30, i got it fairly cheaply due to a friend moving house and having a clearout. it is in perfect condition and the pickups are working brilliantly. i just wanted to know what it is worth now a days , any help would be greatly appreciated thanks. J.
Is that the pointy headstock PJ model? If so I'd not expect more than £100-£150... that's one opinion any way!
this is all so confusing. so basicly the answer is no its not possible?
Not without rewiring cabs or having special leads made up which if you get it wrong or they short could spell disaster! In short the answer is 'No'.
-
when u say series and parallel what do u mean?
Look here. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=135 In short; your cabs if connected together via any combination of amp to cab or cab to cab using normal speaker leads will be in parallel.
hi i have an ash down 600w rms amp with a min load of 4 ohms and would like to know if it will run a 8x10 ashdown cab (800w 4 ohms) and a hartke 4x10 cab (400w 8 ohms) thanks
Without making yourself a special lead (or rewiring your cabs internally) you'd not be able to run both cabs at once... but why would you! A 4ohm 8x10 cab is getting the max from your amp and you'd surely be able to hear yourself, what benefit from adding another cab?

1993 Fender Custom Shop '62 jazz bass
warwickhunt replied to epoxyjazzbass's topic in Basses For Sale
...out of interest what year bass is this and how much are these new? its a cracker..
Title says 1993 and I'm not sure how the price of a new one is relevant! The new price in 93 has little if any relevance to what it's worth today... I'd have thought with your experience of Fenders that you'd have thought of that! -
Check the small print of that PO. I know parcel force has a limit on the insurance of instruments, even if you pay for the extra cover it's something silly like £150 or £200.. Of course you could take the neck off and send it as Parts !!!
+1 re. the insurance farce. They will take your extra premium off you for increased insurance cover (even when you tell them it is a guitar) BUT you are only covered to a max of £150... regardless of whether you've paid for more! However, a Christmas Day bump for you anyway!
I make it 9 Lbs max
Cheers, had it been a 'really' light weight I'd have bitten but despite 9lb being light (which it is), it isn't quite light enough for me! Cracking price so I'm sure this'll go soon... no Pino wannabes about? -
Yeah... nice cheap bass that I thought it was tuned down to F#
No idea about them really, not my bag but I'm sure they do a budget version of the top of the range so there may well be a Rockbass version or whatever. If they don't do a budget version then I don't see what the expensive BO version can have that any other Korean bass couldn't have. As for tuning... F# is lower than B what more could you want! It does illustrate though that there's no reason for not slapping on lower strings as I don't think the necks are specially reinforced (no more so than a normal Warwick).
-
It can be done no problem, as you say you'd need to sort the nut and be sure the truss rod works OK due to the extra tension. I'd watch out though if you have a skinny pencil neck bass, the tension could be too much for the truss rod to sort out; it won't snap the neck or anything daft (unless there's something seriously wrong with the neck anyway) but you may not be able to put the right amount of relief into the neck. Failing that Warwick do a 4 string bass that is (iirc) built BEAD... is it the Darklord/Vampyre or something!
