1. Same as your other eBay linked basses for sale... I would imagine that unless you are going to put a purchase price on your bass then this is going to be moved to the eBay section of the forum like the others!

 4.
Absolutely. I agree that sometimes a busked tune can be great, indeed there is a special place in my heart for such events. However, in my experience, there is a danger of the odd success such as that mentioned above leading to the busking approach being elevated to a point that it doesn't really deserve most of the time. I know a lot of musicians who have fallen into this trap; they dismiss rehearsal/practice as not necessary, and think they are being creative, but in reality the resulting music is frequently shabby. Jennifer
Agreed.
 5.
+1 When you're playing different bass lines you're not being creative, you're just playing different bass lines!
"Creativity is a mental process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the existing ideas or concepts, fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight" Surely by the definition that you are playing something different or creating something slightly different you are being creative! Your choice of notes, timbre, tempo, dynamic etc. are part of the creative process. I feel it is sad when people dumb down people who get creative enjoyment or stimulation from adapting/altering what is already written; why should it only be the prerogative of those who generate something from nothing (if there is such a thing) to claim to be 'creative'? Just saying.
 6.
I stumbled on this thread by chance and i'm really interested. As I have a Roland cb100 combo I have been thinking of using an extra external speaker cab, but I too am confused about ohms, the Roland manual says use a cab with a maximum of 8 ohms, but does not specify whether a 4 or 8 ohm external cab would be better in this set up. How do you find out which to use? Also would adding a 2 x 12 or 1 x 15 external cab of the correct ohmage? produce a louder sound or just a sound with more umph? Any help/advice greatly appreciated, thanks, Nick.
When the manual says 'max 8ohms' Nick, I'd be fairly confident in saying that means use an 8 or 16ohm cab (or any cab between 8-16... or even over 16 but any of the afore mentioned cabs will be pretty rare) NOT a 4ohm cab. As to whether you should add a 2x12, 1x15, 2x10, 4x10 etc. that is down to personal preference but all should give you a (little) more volume as I'd have thought your combo will produce the 100w at 4ohms (your 8ohm internal speaker and the 8ohm ext cab giving the 4ohm load). You won't be talking a massive amount of wattage increase, maybe 25w more than the 75w you'd be getting without the ext cab BUT the extra speaker drivers will make it appear louder with a bit more Umph. Just don't expect to suddenly be knocking down walls when you get the extra cab!
 7. The sad thing is that he CAN play bass (OK note choice, number of notes and timing is a little out in places but when the red light goes on I'm sure we might all find ourselves guilty of the odd blunder) but he's coming across all showmanship/flash and lacking in any substance to his playing! I'd not be surprised to learn that he is also a guitar player... and yes I consider the bass and the guitar separate instruments BUT accept that you can be proficient in both. However, I feel that where guitarists don't make good bassists is in the way that this guy is approaching it, does he not understand that there are likely to be other instruments in the band playing along with him? I've a feeling if this guy turned up for an audition with my band he'd be shown the door pretty sharpish!
 8.
I enjoyed your post 4-string-thing, in my experience there is a big difference in the quality of the end result from someone who has really learned a piece versus and someone who is "busking" their way through it. I disagree that the audience do not notice the difference though; when everything is "right", the music is taken to another level that you will rarely, if ever reach when busking parts. In saying that, with the best will in the world there is not always time to learn songs note perfect. Jennifer
You would agree though that there is the exception when a band is busking or trying something in the early stages of learning/writing a song where things can just 'happen'! I've had many occasions when I've played something with a band (or other musicians in some form of impromptu jam/busk) and the fact that everyone is bringing something different to the mix (both a known cover or a basic chord progression/structure) just fires off some creativity and you reach greater heights than you would with a song that is refined and/or rehearsed to death! I love it when that happens in front of a live audience. A classic example is that my present band have been together about a year and some of our finest moments have been when we are just running through new covers and we are all flexing to see where the song will go (we do covers pretty close to the originals but they can and do go where the moment takes us). Some of the ideas we 'busk' out stay in the song and to get to my point; often songs that end up very polished don't inspire me as much as those early busked sessions. I'm not disagreeing that some/many busked sessions can lead to nowhere and aren't as good from an audience perspective as a well rehearsed number but I believe that those people who are genuinely into music can enjoy it when a band are firing on all cylinders with ideas bouncing off each other in a 'busked' manner... Does that make sense?
 9.
Mate this bass Is originally a fender i dont need your comments and opinions, i have serial number on this base you can look up, i dont need time wasters just saying also i already have people interested, so i would appreciate it if you wanted to help me and not criticise my bass, the parts are not tatty my friend, im selling this bass specifically because im going on tour, and i dont have time to play it, it is a great bass it does play nice, if you are not interested then i appreciate you not wasting your time, I suggest you look up on a FENDER PRECISION 51 REISSUE sir, GOD BLESS YOU
OK I'll make it easy for you... Originally a Fender... Fender what? What serial number (as has been pointed out for the neck or body) have you given anybody to look up? You don't need time wasters.... Hmmm neither do I so we are agreed on that! You have people interested in the bass... great sell it! Exactly when did I criticise your bass? You're going on tour... check I think that I heard that the first time! You don't have time to play it... I'd sell it then! It may well be a great bass and play nice; that's your opinion. I'm not interested but don't worry about me I can find loads of ways to waste my time. Yep looked up Fender Precision Re-issue... now expand on what you have for sale! Oh and finally, thank you for calling me 'Sir'.
 10. Sadly yet another musician has passed away today; Y&T's bassist, Phil Kennemore finally died as a result of cancer. Saw him with Y&T many moons ago and it's sad to see yet another musician die, especially so soon after MK & GR. Condolences to his family.
 11.
BUMP please
Thought you had a buyer for this?
 12. You say 'Custom Made' but who by and do you have any way of authenticating the parts; I hope you can appreciate that without some kind of identifying marks, the bass could just be a bitsa bass made of loads of tatty/shyte parts with a knackered pup! OBVIOUSLY if you can authenticate the parts then it may well be a decent bass and you'll get a quicker sale. Just saying. <edit> Just for a laugh can I also add that the first of your four pics looks like a shot straight from a 'Cash Converters' back room!
 13. So it's like a Highway bass except...
no BA bridge and the option of a maple neck

and obviously gloss finished rather than the thin matt finish the HW1's have

and no graphite reinforced neck either,

was the finish on HW1 instruments not nitrocellulose? The finish on these new basses is urethane.
...so apart from those differences what have Fender ever done for us?
 14. A true gent and man of his word, I'd have no problem recommending Luke as a guy to deal with. Despite the weather and banks conspiring against us Luke went out of his way to sort the purchase of his cab out inc reorganising a courier collection because the courier couldn't collect on the agreed date. Hope to deal with Luke again in 2011.
 15. I'd tend to agree that it is a duff lead as there is no apparent reason why it shouldn't have worked.
 16. Are we talking single or multiple driver cabs? As has been pointed out it is a nominal impedance (though I agree why not put 4ohms on the back of a cab if it contains ONE driver that is stamped 4ohm). I recall that when several companies were bringing out cabs in the not too distant past, with drivers in multiples of threes (3x10 6x10 etc), that they were badged on the back as 4 or 8 ohm cabs yet when checked internally they were found to be wired to 3ohms or 6ohms... but nobody wants to be trying to work to 3/6ohms so they patently rounded to what we bassists know best!
 17.
Yep - but I didn't find out until a few years later when I sold the cabs on...and one got damaged by a courier. The new owner (here on BC a few weeks ago) took the original driver out, and it was clearly labelled 4 ohm, despite the cab being marked externally as 8 ohm. I have no idea if they still do that..or why they did it (on the CXL series). I replaced the Eden with a EA500, but it was rated to run down to 2ohms anyway. Never even got warm. All I can suggest is look at the speaker inside your cab for makers info..or ask EA?
Hang on though... If it contains TWO 4ohm drivers then it is perfectly feasible that the cab was 8ohms! It just depends how they are wired but x2 4ohm drivers can be wired to 2ohms OR 8ohms.

 19. It might help if you flesh out the details of what the bass is made up from/of (is it Fender/Warmoth/Squier parts or built from scratch and by who); it'll also help if you give your location.
 20.
I nearly considered driving over the Tyne with more than that in my pocket for the bass! But I've went and spent that cash elsewhere now! Shame Davydisco didn't get on with the bass and is flipping it so soon. EDIT: I assume he didn't get on with it.
I was in discussion with Slaptone about popping over the Tyne as well, only thing held me back was I wasn't enthused by the fact I thought it was bright red... had I known it was orangey in colour I'd likely have made an effort to get off my backside. Apologies to Dave/Slaptone that I didn't pull my finger out and more fool me as I may well have had a bargain!
 21. Sad indeed, I'm sure condolences to his family will be offered by all!
 22. I couldn't argue with your hypothesis that there may be some link but most amps that I've owned haven't followed the doubling of power for the halving of impedance; it's been closer to, half impedance - power up by approx 50% i.e. 500w @ 8ohms / 750w @ 4ohms. 260w @ 8ohms / 400w @ 4ohms. 170w @ 8ohms / 250w @ 4ohms etc. In fact I can't think of a single amp that I've tried or owned that does the near double.
 23.
It wasn't a typo - I did mean a pair of DB112's, but one of them being an NT neo model. I just wondered if the DB112 NT offered more of the Hi-Fi sound than a standard DB 112 cab. If that is the case, the straight/neo combination could be an interesting. I do remember someone down this way had the DB 112 /DB112NT combination and a few others said it worked quite well. Wonder if they are still around ?
I think (and historically it has been known for me to be wrong) that NT simply stands for No Tweeter! I have a DB12 and a DB12NT and there is no discernible difference in weight but the NT is sans tweeter. <Hang on a minute> Quick check on the Aguilar seems to confirm this; I don't think you can get a Neo equipped DB cab.
 24. Is this red or orange? I thought the lava colour was a distinct different colour from the orange!
 25. Not sure where you are based (I'm in the NE) but I have a nearly new Yamaha PA (inc stands for speakers and mics + 2 mics) which is a 250w 6 channel mixer amp with matched 1x12 trapezoid speakers, that is available. It'll not take the whole band but as a vocal only system for small/medium pubs it is fine and will double as a monitor system when/if you upgrade. Just an offer if need be!
