1.
just joined up for a bit of a gab really, am happy with my gear as it is and not really looking to update
I think I said that about 15 basses and 5 amps ago... Welcome!
 2. I just tend to hit the mid shape and then add a bit of top if needed with the EQ pot. Never bothered with the 7 or 12 band EQ! Now I tend to use the Hartke which has three EQ pots. Bliss. And gives a similar pre-shaped sound pretty easily. But FWIW, I reckon the pre-shape is the killer selling point of all Trace stuff, past and present. It's what makes those amps so unique.
 3.
Add Kingfisher music in Fleet. They have an onsite workshop in store and Colin is a genius
Hmm interesting... I've always found them to be patronising, over-priced and unhelpful. That's ever since I bought my first (and last) bass from them 25 years ago!
 4.
No seriously, take a look at some of his non-RHCP vids, he's an excellent bass player and always progressing, you can see the progression along the way! Take a look at some of the Stevie Wonder stuff, mature playing. His passion for the instrument is amazing.
+1. He's a talented kid.
 5.
MB1. ....Top of Vmaxblues christmas list....a camera! That looks even better than the for sale pics!
6.
Build a time machine and go back the the shop in Wapping. It was great!
+1. Used to love going there as a teenager.
 7.
Looks identical(!) to the one I have, though, the tuner/bidge bit is a bit more roadworn. still ,works perfecty, just "cosmetic" scratces ect. (serial no 370 I recall) still love that bass, though not played it for a long time. put a pic on "musicman porn thread" as my musicman was in the same photo ( if anyone THAT bothered )
I am - will take a look!
 8. Thanks - I've always wanted a Series 2000. And this is fairly close. I love the classic shape in non-wood. I spose it a result of learning to play in the 80s!
 9. The provenance seems to be good - despite the fact the seller's in Liverpool. The pic seems to show the seller and MK together and MK playing the bass. He must have owned about three hundred basses back in the day. I once played the pillar box red one that was on Running On The Family. It was on sale at the old Bass Centre in Wapping in early 90s. It *was* thrashed to bits, with string grooves in the neck where it had been slapped. Back to this Ebay one though, looks a beauty, whatever the back story is. It's a Series 2000, yes?
 10. In anticipation of this arriving, I found myself drawn to listen to old Level 42 tracks. But now it's here, I don't feel the need to be a slapper; it's got a great fingerstyle tone.
 11.
Ooh, that's an early one!. Very good condition as well by the looks of it. Nice score Try calling Dawn at Status. She has complete lists of the serial numbers/ages of the basses they've made. 01206 868150 Rich.
Thanks - just have. 1990.
 12. Just arrived from vmaxblues - thanks Stuart. Status 4000. Resin body and graphite bolt-on neck. Serial #196 - 1990. Strings are a bit dead but still sounds good. Yet to plug it into my amp and use loud but will report back.

 14.
Jokes aside, that guy is seriously talented! I play all those instruments, but none of them to the standard that he does!
+1. The more you watch it, you realise how difficult it is to pull that off. Can't fault him on any instrument - just wish I could do it!
 15. Nice pickguard switch there - reminds me of when I used to own jonthebass's 90s Precision and changed it from this: to this....
 16. Doh, if I hadn't just bought another bass from this site, I'd be all over this like a cheap suit.
 17. You need a USB (or Firewire) interface with several inputs on it or an ADAT unit. Would be interested in hearing the answer - I'd like to do the same thing.
 18.
MB1. .....Still Blue! BUMP!
I think MB1's angling after the neck. Edit: actually MB1-kenobi, this would be a cracking bass for you. Offer to buy the body too.
 19.
The Weekend Rock Stars are looking for a bass player ...
Like the name!
 20. I guess all it will do is distort sooner.
 21.
Note the same seller has for sale a 'quiet shredder' - ideal for your guitard.
Or to put the guitarist into it.
 22.
He's a really nice bloke - I told him that `Haitian Divorce' is one of the best basslines ever recorded - he clasped my hand and said `bless you man' - I was nearly in tears!!! When you meet someone of his musical stature, you can't help but be moved by it.
You should have seized the moment and tried to flog him one of your 54 basses!
 23. Can you describe the tone from the P special that you like? Is it hot like a Stingray? Thinking G&L Tribute might be for you!
 24.
They came across really well I thought, definitely a decent job on the cover, not brilliant, but good I thought (esp vocal harmonies).
+1
 25.
I'll now make arrangements to pass this cab on to Stingray fan - hopefully later this week.
Good stuff - looking forward to gigging it!
