1. The through necks on those Thunder 2s are great. I'll dig out my 1984 Thunder 1A but it won't compare!
2.
He probably didn't even realise he was ripping you off, he probably just doesn't give a sh*t about the condition of his gear.
I think you're right - Ebay's full of people selling stuff they have no clue about. Much nicer to buy it from here, you stand a better chance of getting something decent, that's been well looked after.
3.
I would love to interact with like minded people..ie BASS PLAYERS>
Bass players? I thought this was a forum for chatting about bass fishing. At least, that's what I've been on about for the last few years.
4.
And you got more luck as a bass player?
No. Two bad life choices. Note to self; take up lead guitar.
5. Perhaps it's just psychological on my part. It's defo lighter than a L1500 that I used to own. That had that weighty American feel to it. But I spose as US G&Ls are essentially made to order, it's all a bit academic. Your Trib still a great buy though.

7. 15 - school hall. Played drums so hard, got blisters. Didn't cop off. Decided not to be a drummer anymore!
8. I prefer the Tribs to the USA ones. They're lighter, feel a bit more modern but still have the killer sound.
9. About £250 is my estimate. And great combos they are too.
10. Sorry to hear about the dead head - we've all been there! Does defo sound like there's something wrong with it. These heads are worth around £150, so you need to do the sums to make it worthwhile, I guess. Stupid question - but you had the gain wound up high, yes? Almost clipping? That will have a big effect on output.
11.
They should make basses out of Leylandii.
It would be the bass that keeps on growing.
12. Not hear em - but those new Hartke HyDrive might be worth a look.
13. There's a little Ashdown too I think and the TC Electronics new one. Though I liked the size of it, I found the Little Mark too clean for me but different strokes, different folks...
14. I'm trialling the Barefaced Compact at the moment and it's doesn't seem to be lacking in punch or bass so far. Had to roll the bass off in rehearsal yesterday. Might be worth a look. * alex - your trial seems to be working, i'm already recommending it after one rehearsal.
15.
Wow! I have a G&L and also a Stingray. Does this mean I'll be able to undress women at a distance!?
Basically, yes.
16. Paging Alex Claber... In the meantime Wil, have a look at his website.
17. Hello from a lefty - who plays as a righty. You'll find there's a lot of us round here...
18. Used the southern Compact in anger for first time at band practice yesterday. We were in a room where the overall acoustics aren't good (every bass amp in our rehearsal place always sounds ropey) but the Compact did a pretty good job. Had to roll off the bass a bit but despite a lack of tweeter, the high notes rang out cleanly. It certainly handled the power without any complaint and didn't seem any less juicy than my normal 4-ohm cab. I really wanted to A/B it against my current cab but there wasn't room in the car to bring both (was giving a bandmate a lift...). So, first impressions are good. So nice to do a one handed lift from the car too. Looking forward to gigging it in a regular venue of ours in a week or so, where I'll be able to really see how it compares with my current set-up.
19. Picked one of these up to play in a shop not so long ago - felt like a child's guitar!

21. Roundwounds, low-as-you-can action and amp with the mids-scooped and you should be there.
22. Sounds like a muddy sounding bass like a Gibson EB3, played at the neck, with dead strings, through a curly lead into a homemade amp. Not my bag but I think you could get that sort of tone fairly easily if you went back to the late 60s!
23. Not a digital tuner - but this site is useful if you just want to do a quick tune-up to practice at home...
24.
Our old chinese percussionist used to use Fook Yu
OP: It's worrying that you're worrying about PRS paperwork on your first gig. Just enjoy it...
