1. Just imagining his version of 'tab' - fourth horse for two bars then up to third cactus for four......
2. There was a young fellow named Hall Who found a fake Rick on a stall Being a prat Took exception to that And sued but the bloke had ........sweet nothing. (struggling for a last rhyme there, Lurcio)
3. Always thought funk was a 'feel' thing as opposed to any particular technique or sound employed. Anyone agree that Andy Fraser could be considered a funk player (on an EB3 ffs!)?
4.
jacking the action
That may well make a tonal improvement but apparently it's detrimental to the eyesight.
5. I can offer you my preferred headache cure - an empty bottle - 'cos nothing acts faster than Anadin.
6. Great deal with Paul on a Gotoh bridge - paid within minutes - splendid chap.
7. You seem to have covered a couple of points of concern correctly. Can't possibly be a '74 IMO.
8.
Would you believe it .......Out of stock
I'm probably to blame. I bought some string trees from Allparts recently and mistakenly duplicated the order. I can therefore pass one on to you if you PM me your details.
9. Poor Mrs. WoT. BTW, it's spelt 'porn'.
10. You're right to think it's right Jon. 'Orangey' headstock right for the period. White re-spray over sunburst.
11. Most simplistic description I've used for the difference in sound:- A Precision is woody, a Jazz is fruity. Kinda works (for me anyway).
12.
Just for the benefit of Joey (and myself), could you point out the issues with the bass that scream non-Fender.
A 70's Fender maple neck would have a skunk stripe in the rear of the neck. The nut should not be stuck on the end of the fingerboard (Gibson syle) but would be in a slot with some wood behind it. Wrong machines, neckplate is not the right shape for a Fender. Truss rod adjust is by a 'wheeled' principal at the body end - not used by Fender. Also note the distinct heel towards the body end of the neck - a Fender simply merges in at that point without showing a definite line. I'm sure seeing the bass 'in the flesh' I would pick out more discrepancies but that's probably enough for now.
13. It's a copy with a Fender decal fitted - naughty.
14. For a quality result I use the same 4-ply as marketed by WD - it ain't cheap. A 3-ply 'photo' type is possible for those who don't want to spend so much, but as you say, it can look dodgy.
15.
Ya, mit tutellshellinger - nine probelem. [Enigma] I would need to know the measurement for where the 'no hole' should be....
16. I think it's possible to buy direct from Penn - they've got a depot just down the road from me in Washington Tyne and Wear. A mate of mine has definitely bought from them by arranging to pop in after phoning ahead with an order.
17. I could make one for you - what material would you like? H.
18. I've seen this 'in the flesh' and it's gorgeous. I've also seen BottomEndian in the flesh.......... Anyway, the bass is truly luverly.
19. For your delictation an original 1964 Gibson EB3 in the the ultra rare Pelham Blue finish (belongs to a mate of mine and not for sale!).
20. When he first came on the scene, I heard the name as Jim Miroquai (i.e. he could have had a brother called Arthur Miroquai).
21.
... or is it just me? Keeps coming up with an error!
It's both - there seems to be an error And it is just you 'cos I've just checked your avatar.
