1. I could make you one if you have an original as a template. PM if interested.
2. [Howard the bass doc ... a bit tatty in a vintage way] Cor blimey guv, caught me bang to rights, and no mistake.
3.
If its defective, & the neck is goosed; I would personally send it back, regardless of the cost.
And if they wouldn't give you a refund, you would have to sue Sue Ryder..... (cue Elvis Presley intro).
4. I used to own this. Should have kept it along with the box containg the teeth of a hen. 1966 Epiphone Embassy - Basically a Thunderbird engine room on a more conventional body shape.
5. Steve Moore There's a video somewhere I believe
6. It's the same principal as an S1 switch on the Fender Jazz of late - press in for series, press again for parallel (the normal Jazz configuration).
7. Just received a Badass bridge from Jon following a request from a fellow Basschatter to fit one to his Squier Jag thingy. Smooth deal as ever and the packaging was great - I'm still playing with the bubblewrap when I should be completing the job.
8. I can see David Walliams doing a good impersonation of Ron.
9. If this had been the short scale version, I would have been interested in it as a pressie for my young niece Bam Bam. Can you confirm it is the actual one used on the recording of Wake up Boo Boo by the Boo Boo Radleys?
10.
I played with Bruce Welch and Brian Bennett once, does that count?
That's OK. Bruce Welch - a fine exponent of what used to be called rhythm guitar.
11. I forgot to mention at the start of this thread that I'd agreed with the Mods that anyone mentioning Hank Marvin would receive a severe reprimand and 3 months suspension form the forum. Carry on.
12. Strange look to the windings round the post - should be more length wrapped around and, as previously mentiond the end should dissappear down the hole in the centre. New strings and follow the guidelines?
13. Sorry to attempt a scuttling of your thread but is this not the same bass you bought from a fellow Basschatter no more than 4 weeks ago for £165.00? If it is as I suspect, I looked at this one myself just before the sale and I am convinced it's not Jesus but Robert Powell whose likeness appears. Therefore it is a copy.
14. Anyone got the TAB for this? And of course the proper dots for Bilbo.
15. Try me Charla, 'cos I'm quite close by and have some spares that may do the job. Tel no. available by PM.
16.
It's what you don't play.
I've said it in a previous thread - there's a lot of great stuff I don't play.
17.
Great thread! Slash
Trust you know Slash isn't his real name. It used to be P!ss and he thought that was a bit rude so he changed it.
18. A starter...... Peter Green (in his heyday)
19. "Keep it simple" If you're hearing this a lot, it's probably right.
20. Morning WoT, You do realise a custom build could be on the cards at a fraction of the cost don't you? You already have the neck and I have a P-J body on order
21. Very interesting. Distinct absence of masks in the areas involving sanding and spraying. Health and safety eh?
22. In my very early playing days a more senior bass player advised me that what I left out was important. In a later meeting on a gig he came up to me at the end and said I'd obviously learned something and that 'I'd left out some bloody good stuff'
23.
Bass Doc - That's a beaut, Well done!
Thanks Jon. 'Jamerson' La Bellas fitted on original frets. I enjoy the fact that collectors are not interested because of the addition of a Jazz pickup - saves me telling them to go forth and procreate.
24. Here's my gigging machine. As you see I follow James Jamerson's school of thought - 'Don't clean it, keep the funk'.
25. I might just prefer to listen to an album's worth of duets for bagpies and banjo. Then again.....
