1. I presume the "on Tour" list is now defunct? I believe I was next on the "Northern" cabs list until Alex recalled the cabs. Still waiting to hear if there's going to be a new "On Tour" cab from Alex.
2. If I was a millionaire bass player I'd have it !
3. That's cool, although I'm sure he built his business on at least part of his reputation on Basschat. Wonder if he'll start coming back to the forum when/if his business starts to drop off again !
4. But there might be only 2 people dancing. I find it happens more often where it's a private party and all the guests are sober to start with. The secret is playing songs that get the girls dancing. The blokes soon follow !
5. What's happened to Alex @ Barefaced ? I thought I was next on the list for the first new Tour cab but heard nothing. I was hoping to try the cab over a run of gigs I had in Feb but it's all gone very quiet. Being honest he's probably lost a customer. He also closed off his forum, so even the general chat/hype that got me interested in the first place has dies down to nothing. Same goes for his website, it's half finished with pictures missing and the likes.
6. You've not noticed a rucksack beside your gear have you ?
7. Yes, you want 100% so how much for the Reggie ?
8. It's not a Stage II if it's maple, maybe a Stage I which is a different beat altogether
9. Yes I totally agree, but their all buying into the "piece of history" appeal. Why can no one make a Stradivarius (is that how you spell it) anymore? My moneys on that there's somebody who does, or gets very close. It's just a preception that it has "that" sound and no one can replicate. Same goes for vintage Fender's !!! They do look nice though.
10. IMO, it's smoke & mirrors.... If you look long enough you'll find a £500 Fender that's as good as the best vintage Fender. All this hunting around to find a good one is true, but that's the same for every bass guitar isn't it. The only reason for owning a vintage instrument is the "vintage" appeal and yes, I would love a 60's Precision for that reason alone. I don't ever imagine it'll play like butter, have a nice low action and a preamp that I can dial in a variety of tones. I don't expect it to have a 5th string, or a fancy wood top or even for it to be unmarked. It's a lump of wood with some metalic strings, creating a current through copper wire & magnets that's then fed through an amplifier. It's all in our heads, but we all love our bass guitars and so the appeal to some is owning a piece of Fender history ! Just my opinion of course
11. Wow, I need to look for one of these in Germany and Sweden. Depending on condition I reckon you'll be paying £1000 to £1500 for a Stage II here in the UK. I bought and later sold a mint one for £1400 with Warwick gig bag a few months ago and that seemed like a fair price.
12. From my point of view, it's choosing the custom "build" that's sometimes the most fun part. It's like being a luthier without knowing woodwork.... Helping decide on the look, the sort of sound you'd like, the feel of the neck, the finish, the colour, whether to have "fairy" lights, the weight and on and on .... Then there's the wait, the anticipation, have you made the right choices? Some you win, some you lose. In my experience it's a bit like gambling. If you can afford to lose a little (i.e. the build doesn't work out) then it's worth the gamble and it's addictive. It's been 2 or 3 years since my last build, but I'm already thinking a GB would be a nice build for my next one. Help! It's starting again.
13. Martin at Sei would only make a bass to a Sei shape when I asked for a custom build, although I did get to choose neck profile, string width etc. Fodera I would imagine do the same. However, Jon Shuker is a different kettle of fish. He will help design and build a custom bass with any body shape and so I would call Sei high-end and Shuker custom.
14. I used to have a Fender Jazz deluxe (US) and really liked the tone from it. Each to their own I guess !
15.
if Fodera's basses were more affordable, say £3000 then they would have double if not triple the orders which would push the waiting list through the roof and then everyone would be disappointed!!
Or... they'd move to a bigger workshop, employ more staff, make more money for themselves, sell cheaper basses and everyone would be happy!!
16. An emergency backup for what? Sticking your bass through the PA I presume ?
17. What's the dimensions on this little thing?
18. Mmm, I've been looking at one of these too and very interested to see how it sounds. Can I ask where you got it from? Thomann?
19. The little Line 6 110 amp looks good for bedroom practice. Small, loud'ish if required as a back up amp with DI out and headphones out which is important. Some amp modelling as well if that's your thing.
20. Steve just bought my Sei Jazz bass. Real pleasure to deal with and prompt payment, even with the usual hassles provided by Paypal ! Hope you enjoy Steve, and if you ever think of selling I'd like first dibs
21. Nah, i'm with Jake on this. Should really just put it in your profile. If it's in the same place for everyone then it's easy.
22. oops, apologies. thought i was helping but in future i'll pm. I've deleted the earlier post and would appreciate if JackLondon deletes his too so that it doesn't affect David's sale.
23. I wasn't bothered about rules, they are there to be broken Just didn't have a trade and your title said F/S.
24. Whats your For Sale price?
25. No worries, you should have told your Dad that you'll pay commission to ebay for putting up the item, when you sell the item and if you take payment by paypal. You'll lose about £10-£15 of the sale if my calculations are anything to go by
