1. There's a 6-string Gold Warwick Thumb sitting in Ziggy's restaurant in St Andrews, Fife. It's a Hard Rock-style restaurant with all sorts of memorabilia on the walls and if you ever get a chance you should visit. Only seats about 40 people but steaks taste amazing ! Anyway, when I asked the owner about the bass he said it was a John Entwistle one.
2. But you've got an SVT-3 Pro
I must be living a charmed life. I buy my gear after listening to it in the shop and I haven't brought a dud rig yet!
3. Hehehe, pity I cannae be arsed buying
4. I'd second the Markbass SA450 pantherairsoft is selling. Very good price too.
5. Where's the batteries for the LED's ? Do you have to unscrew the control plate everytime you need to change batteries ? BUMP !!!
6. Thinking of downsizing my rig to a Markbass CMD121P with NY121 extension cab. Currently have a Schroeder 410L and Markbass SA450 amp and really like the mid EQ section on the SA450. Th 410L is just too heavy as a single man lift !!!! So, if I bought the little combo. Could I swap in my SA450 and sell the LMII or whatever the combo amp section is, as a standalone amp?
7. WTF! Where did the NYC 121 cab go .....
8. Can I presume, James that you still have the Lowdown combo? Or do you have no amp to do your musical with if this gets delayed again?
9. Why not call another PJB supplier, i.e. guitarguitar and ask ? They tend to keep amps in stock and if you explain the scenario to them I think they'd offer some advice. I played a PJB Flightcase in the Edinburgh Shop and it sounded silent, but then I wasn't listening that intently. Call Andy aka Duck at the Edinburgh shop, and ask is my opinion.
10. What about the PJB Flightcase ?
11. Academy of Sound are doing the new 12" 112c combo for £319 and put in the discount code BIGSALE gives another 10% discount. Haven't played one but looks like a great little combo.
12. '71 wasn't the best of years for Fender, you really should have '62 Precisions & '66 Jazzes The seed is now planted, mwwwahahahaha...
13. If you do want to add a thumb rest, and I don't see why not if that's what you would prefer. I'm guessing that you just drill a couple of guide holes and attach the thumb rest where you feel comfortable playing. The holes will go into the wood body below the scratchplate, so maybe glue would work if you didn't want to modify the body at all. A new scratchplate would cover anything if you did think of selling.
14. Aye, gimme the AWB any day !
15. I own one of them, but not the main pic P.S. As a clue, I don't play for The Stranglers or Kaiser Chiefs !
16. Let me get this straight, you're cab has worked fine for 3 years and when the speaker goes you then expect Ashdown to replace it when it's out of warranty? Trying to be impartial, but I think your best option is to move on.....
17. I'm with you on this Jesso. Similar situation, although gigging in Scotland. Gears their to be used and when it breaks it gets fixed or replaced. Again, I agree that if you buy decent gear that's built to last, more often than not it will. We also keep our gear (inc bass) in an insulated trailer and then in an alarmed lockup. After playing 4 hours and travelling another hour or two home it's convenience that counts, not the finish on your bass
18. What about my Schroeder 410L that I offered? Presume your not interested in a 3-way deal for this then. Cheers mate
19. Fancying a change and thinking of the 2x12" Tecamp cab that's for sale on this forum. No pictures as yet, do you guys really need to see another Schroeder 410L, but it's the version with the carpet covering. Link found here It's around 3 years old, in very good condition and I've had no problems with this since new. Bought direct from Jorg in the US. Looking for £550 + P&P which I'm guessing might be £30'ish. Please note, this is only for sale while the Tecamp is still around !!!!
20. As far as I can gather you've paid 50% to date (270USD) and will have to pay the remainder before the luthier ships and then you'll be stung for customs duty on top of that. So, it's cost you £180'ish and will cost another £250'ish to get your neck. I'd write this off to experience, contact Jon Shuker and I bet you'll get a new neck to your specification for not much more (if any) than the £250. Don't tell the existing luthier and he's probably going to be out of pocket for wood/time&expenses on the deal anyway. You win, he loses !
21.
Stephen, if possible, could you bring that in to me at the usual place to have a look/listen? And bring your red bass as well!! cheers D.
Nae bother! Hoping to have it around end of Jan as I've got 3 gigs over a couple of weeks. Might arrange for you to bring the Tecamp in at the same time
22.
Isn't the northern Compact heading up to Scotland soon? Get on the list and have a look for yourself.
Yep I'm the one it's heading to...
23. Mmmm, that's put me off getting a Barefaced. I need a cab that can take the rigours of gigging and being left in a trailer the rest of the time. Would rather put up with the bit extra weight !
24. Wow! Thanks Mark, that's a pretty detailed review. So have you done away with the Compact for the PC's then? I'm presuming a 4 ohm PC 212T would be more than adequate as a one cab solution, and save me 5kg on the Schroeder 410L that I have at the moment?
