1.
Don't think this one is quite right, very metallica sounding
Ah, just listened to your band. See what you mean. I'll get me coat and put some coccoa on.
2. Great playing and what a great tone.
3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_nt5v1OtKE http://www.imuso.co.uk/Amplifiers/Amplifiers-By-Instrument/Electric-Guitar-Amplifiers/6563-/Laney-LV300H-120-Watt-Valve-Electric-Guitar-Amplifier-Head Check this out for no money for what you get. Link below You tube is the cheapest I found it. The You tube demo is in Chinese (I think) but about 4 mins 20 sec. You get a taste of the metal tones. Worth a look.
4.
Yes, I've thought of doing this, and I know people who do. A designer should get four salaries if they work for a company! Their own, one of doing the job of the client, one for sorting out all the crap that reps bring to the job that didn't exist in the first place and one for sorting out crap from incompetent printers
Funny that, I have a mate whos a printer who moans about incompetent designers (present company accepted of course) who come up with stuff from the darkest depths of their imagination and expect someone else to produce it
5. I hate this song so I told the drummer that I was with about 10 years ago that none of the notes needed to play it are on my bass. He seemed to accept that.
6.
Have you ever played one?
Funnily enough, a guy I know here bought a Chinese Les Paul standard. Complete with Gibson logo'd headstock and case, pucker glued neck the lot. Even had Made in USA on the reverse and a serial number. We seriously took the piss, until it was plugged into a boogie Mk1V and sounded great. Even with the £5 pickups. He changed the tuners and still plays it. Chinese manufacturing has come a long long way. Not condoning this though in any way.
7. Bugger, I've only just noticed that the OP is a very new member. Feel a bit guilty now so sorry bass man219 Just a bit of fun.
8.
Les gave me crabs, which is bad, but Flea done a poo. Could go either way really.
FLEA DONE A POO??? Have you still got it?
9. Definately Les Claypool for me. I've been to both their houses and you should see how Les has done his kitchen. Absolutley lovely whilst Flea however, has no idea whatsoever about work-top / unit colour co-ordination and quite frankly, has bought very cheap appliances.
10. One band is all UK / USA party type covers apart from two original numbers and two French numbers. 2nd band is again covers doing everything from Country to Thin Lizzie so a little more rock orientated. Acoustic duo with the wife. Anything from Cyndi Lauper and Carole King to Prince. About to embark on an AC/DC thing. Slight possibility of doing some Albert Lee / Dire Straits stuff with someone else. At home, I try and nail stuff that I'll never get a chance to play
11.
Seeing as the Bells catalogue has gone down so well, try this for more old gear.. http://www.mancheste...ear/guitars.php
Bloody hell, you've got some gems there. Haven't seen a Grimshaw LP for about 35 years although my mate still has a Grimshaw GS33 which was an SG type with 2 P/U like a standard. Fab stuff, got any more?
12. Absolutely brilliant. I remember at one point they started to include Kay guitars and I would dream of one day owning a Kay "Red devil" Don't think I ever even got to see one in the flesh. Thanks for posting this.
13.
[emoticon]slaps head with palm[/emoticon] Sorry Keith. I had just recently woken up and not had my double espresso - am I excused?
Double espresso? blimey Paul you must be a real pro I stick to the woossie Senseo stuff. Mind you, I have had about six so far since getting up so you're excused.
14.
Gary - this is the only thing I have ever read that makes me want to live in France! Just too much fun to ignore.
Yes Dave, I know what you mean
15. Thanks guys. I think I will. I was sort of expecting a few replys about shattered spinal columns, deafness, having to buy light basses, learning to play a Tammy Wynette set and being in by 10.pm. But, this guy is too crazy to ignore for me. Especially here as we're not exactly talking about the centre of the musical universe. I've met him before at the French guitar festival. He can actually do a pretty good Chet Atkins as well but AC/DC is his passion or rather, infatuation to the point of scary. The Romford boy is actually quite a hard act to mimic as has been said before. CW has got to be one of the tightest and solid players ever. It all sounds simple until you need to play like he does.
16.
Did anyone else go straight for the 'see other items' to see if he had the rest of his family in there?
17. I would have walked just before your third paragraph. You don't need that crap.
18. Having reached official "old age" now, I had considered giving up the rockier stuff and doing some country / blues stuff due to the fact my voice can't cope anymore and I find it hard work. However, I just had an offer to play with this guy. He's a completely mad AC/DC stalker, writes tribute songs to them, makes videos, records himself in his studio and plays all the instruments on the tracks. He's had a band in the past and now wants another. Apparently, one of his videos is on their official site!! I'm old and in pain but this just looks too crazy to turn down. I just love a weirdo. He's got loads of stuff on You Tube. Whadya reckon, go for it?
19.
Yes, amazing things. I played on a multi-act charity do a year back where a chap did a few numbers on one. Supposedly 17th century French folk tunes. The novelty soon wore off.....the bar takings went up though!
20. You can cover up any duff bits with some fast slapping. That should work
21.
weekend bump, lower price. check out melvin davis playing the ken smith design on you tube, lee ritenour overtime vid, papa was a rolling stone. also e.ramerez, sadowsky pre amp test...nice playing.
I forgot all about your bass just listening to this great line-up and track Going to see Lee Ritnour and Dave Grusin in May. Must admit though, I'm sorely tempted. Lovely looking instrument.
22. Gave the banjo an outing last night at a free for all folky club. Great fun. Need to seriously get some lessons or sort out some Youtube stuff but certainly going to persevere as I'm just using basic guitar picking at present. French lady turned up with a Hurdy Gurdy. First time I've ever had the opportunity to play along with one. Fantastic bit of kit but fairly limited key-wise. She said she'd paid €1,400 for it as it's "only" an intermediate model!!!
23. Certainly not expensive for that guitar. You'd probably be able to sell it on at a profit if you don't get on with it.
24. Just got a 6 string for my birthday. Love it. It's getting an outing tomorrow night at a folk club.
