1.
That's all the Mumbo jumbo they say about the cab they make now which is exactly the same as mine but isn't road ready but is 4 or 8 ohms. Oh btw mine has the front board that covers the speaker grill and yes bill Bryson is a fantastic travel writer and that book about Australia is wet yourself funny I highly recommend it. Not that it's bass related but still great stuff
Bill Bryson-related bump (I really liked 'A Short History Of Nearly Everything')
2. Naah, they have 6550's as stock, but you can put KT88's in as well, if desired. And no, I don't run KT88's.
3. Dorset is a dive too then? It can happen to anyone anywhere ... opportunity makes the thief In the meantime, I can report that nothing has turned up. Not really a surprise hey?
4. I guess it is a lesson learned: 1) insure your gear; 2) never use a small trailer, even it is locked and secured to the car; 3) never leave your gear alone. Any other suggestions?
5. They finished the tour on borrowed gear.
6.
I think they'll struggle to move on a lot of that stuff without raising some eyebrows. Good luck with finding it. There's a "Stolen Gear" thread somewhere round BC (I think under Bass Guitars)
Cheers man, I will post it there (too) @dmccombe7: no, as far as I know, nothing was insured ...
7.
That's a bit unfair Joe, as I have read of bands having their gear stolen all across the UK, London and Manchester are 2 places that spring to mind!
I am sure they won't blame Bradford. Such a thing can happen almost anywhere in Europe.
8. Noop, they were really looking forward to this mini-tour ... A rude awakening
9.
Sorry to hear about this. It must be the worst thing that can happen to a musician losing their fav gear especially guitar / bass which are sometimes irreplaceable. That looks like some really good quality gear too. How / where did it happen. I'm guessing you didn't leave your gear in an unattended trailer for any length of time. Really sorry and hope it turns up and the gits involved jailed for a very long time. Dave
They were doing a short tour (3 days) as support of Alestorm. Before they could start with their first gig at Gasworks in Bradford, the trailer with all their gear in was stolen. It is a tough school, the school of hard knocks
10. Apparently they did break the first rule: never leave your gear unattented. But then again: would you expect that they would steal the whole trailer, with everything in it? What are the chance that those low lives like metal? Maybe desperate fans? I have seen a few cases of stolen instruments and the most sad thing about it is (apart from the fact that you have lost your fav gear) that those thieves almost never can appreciate the value and/or quality of the gear.
11. If you live in or around Bradford, please read and check if you see any of the items mentioned in the link pass by or recognize being offerd for sale: http://www.krossbreed.be/gearlist.htm I am not a member of Krossbreed, but play in another (well, THE other ) band of one of their guitar players. If you can help out, much appreciated!
12. D*mn, I am very tempted to go for the Hellborg Big Cab ... I just bought an Ampeg V4b (mid Seventies) and something makes me think that that would be a very good combination.
13. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/159731-ampeg-v4b/ I bought an Ampeg V4B from Michele. Shipping happened immediately after payment. The provided information was to-the-point and correct. The amp arrived in working condition. It was a very smooth transaction. Highly recommended!!
14. I use a double XL410 stack and I am happy as a pig in the mud! I like a dirty and punchy bass sound and these cabs can deliver it. The ones I use are from the first series, because they are rated '240 watts @ 8 ohm' while the new(er) ones are 400 watts @ 8 ohm. Still heavy though.
