1. I heard the new album recently and in contrast to his early solo albums I can confirm it sounds absolutely, bloody awful. Totally bereft of interesting musical ideas, swamped in a soup of digital reverb and songs with pitiful lyrics. I'm amazed why someone can't jump in and tell him where he's going wrong. Dreadful artwork too.
 2. Now for sale at the Bass Gallery in Camden town.
 3. I tried GarageBand on the iPhone and iPad and found it impossibly fiddly with the swiping, resizing and all that. You need a desk, a big screen, a mouse and a bass on your lap.

 5.
Only if you read certain bits of the alternative music press, and AFAIK it didn't make much impact at the time. I dunno, is that insufficiently "before it was cool" for this thread? It might be more fun to suggest some albums you think are under-recognised rather than just popping up to tell us the rest of us why our choices are wrong!
It was always recognised as a cult classic that one. You do have a point about me not being constructive but I tried to that in the long running 'experimental' music thread here on Basschat and ran into a barrage of indifference!
 6.
I'd mention An Electric Storm by White Noise. When someone played the opening track to me a few years ago I presumed it was from the 90s or later, but it turns out to be from 1968. Plus it features Delia Derbyshire of Dr Who theme fame.
That gets LOTS of recognition and is the subject of much attention every year!
 7.
I think if you changed that to "Any bass that isn't a 4-string Precision or Jazz", you'd have covered 95% of the posts in this thread. Quite depressing really.
My thoughts too.
 8. I still gig mine but yes, it's heavy and uncomfortable compared to my other basses. Unfortunately it has the best sound!
 9.
Have to say Kev not impressed with the interview. Still don't know his favourite colour and who is his favourite One Direction member. Must try harder.
Arf!
 10. Rare and beautiful. It took me AGES to sell mine, though.
 11. Tried this today. Very impressive bass - lightweight, responsive; picks up all the playing subtleties and it has great tone controls.
 12.
Voyage of the Acolyte by Steve Hackett. It has songs with titles like 'Hands of the Priestess, Part I' and '"Shadow of the Hierophant'. It doesn't get much more prog than that!
I also rate this highly.
 13. How about some modern Prog? http://youtu.be/LDEuWOshTq4 http://youtu.be/U5wx8sHGDzo
 14. I wish more bassists thought of the bass guitar as a guitar with less strings. We'd get better bass lines.
 15.
When I used to work the social club scene as a singer I worked with dozens of comedians. Pretty much all of them were the most miserable and boring people I have ever come across off stage
Agreed. Comedians are another level of miserable and obnoxious altogether.
 16.
The death of Rock and Roll may be attributed to a number of factors: * Over supply at both the local and global level * The tameness and predictability of the content and presentation at all levels when compared to other musical genres * The natural entropy of any popular artistic form * Ageing core audience with a diminishing number of 'new' entrants. * The wide availability of alternative forms of entertainment or distraction including - but not limited to - the internet, TV, games, all of which provide the secondary function of identity-building and group involvement as previously supplied by Rock. 'Rock' has lasted longer in the public eye than any other musical genre (save perhaps music hall / musical theatre 1840-1955). It is unsurprising that Rock is on its last legs; then again, so am I so its not a problem for me. .
Perfect analysis!
 17.
Because that's the rules. Rock n' roll has no rules.
The trouble is it has too many rules. That's why it's dead.
