1. I had one of these things years back but failed to make the mental adjustment needed to play it with a fresh mind. These instruments aren't quite a bass and aren't quite a guitar.
 2.
They are quite something.. see below..
They're lovely. If only they made the nut width smaller and made the 4-sting pickups like the 5 string and got rid of those plastic surrounds!
 3. As Bilbo is suggesting, Prog requires longer rehearsal times, therefore commitment is a big factor and Prog bands remain a rarity. If one buys Prog magazine at WHSmiths you'll realise that Prog isn't really Prog anymore. It's largely metal/math Prog.
 4.
I thought there was a bit of a resurgence of prog rock style music with people Steven Wilson doing quite well and bands like Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, Pineapple Thief selling out venues?
Yes, you're right. Plus bands like Thumpermonkey, Knifeworld, in London
 5.
Half a dozen! Blimey, I do have a Mk I on order as well, but that is some months away. Here are the Mk IIIs ready for collection
Congratulations. When you tire of that maple one on the left I'd like first dibs. I'm sure we can do a deal.
 6.
Would you recommend to learn on a fretless?
As mentioned already, try and provide some context to your question.
 7. I've played this bass and can confirm it's a lovely instrument. Eude is a delight to deal with and I routinely use him to model all my basses for sale.
 8. A friend of mine got talking to a drunken guy in a pub who cracked dirty jokes and offered to suck his cock. Being a canny guy and a music fan, after five minutes of chatter with this character my friend became suspicious, recognised him and asked him if he was legendary folk guitarist, Davy Graham. Bingo!
 9. The Carl Thompson design Narrow nut Multicoil pickups Short scale Lightweight
 10.
90 views! I thought this was a bass forum..... Challenging, as ever Kev The Longest Melford? Much smoother, great tone. Quite Rain Tree Crow.
Thanks!
 11. Go here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Bass-Specialties It's American but my friends and I have ordered here and not incurred any import charges. It's the cheapest even with the postage.
 12. In the video above you can hear this amazing bass produces a fabulous, grunty, wiry, snarly vibrating tone with a pick and ultra clear, penetrating, funky tones when slapped. Reduced to £1700
 13.
I've played this on two separate trips to The Gallery. It's f***ing amazing, one of the few basses that has left a strong impression on me. If I hadn't decided to go down the custom build route (30.5" ACG), I would have snapped this up. I'd never heard of CB before but will keep an eye out for them now. Due to the light weight, the medium scale and the narrow spacing at the nut, it's a dream to play. Add to this the fact it sounds gnarly as f***, it's an absolute machine. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the aesthetics. I like something darker or shinier, although clearly that's subjective. But due to the playability and tone, I'd have this over any of the other basses I've tried at The Gallery (several Wals, Foderas, Ken Smiths, and my previous favourite, a Pedulla). GLWTS. This bass will make someone very happy
Thanks, Luke. As you said it's as 'gnarly as Feck'- if you want that elusive wiry, penetrating, vibrating gnarl to your sound this is the bass for you.
 14.
I like the tune after the first cut, the one with the sort of wonky reggae feel.
Yeah, someone else said they thought that was a bit reggae, although i can't see it myself
 15. These beautiful basses sell for a bomb in the States and Cliff Bordwell is one of the most respected luthiers in the world. It's still here!
 16.
Chunky. I prefer the more sold tone they give. I'm not a fan of the thiner tones from shallow necks.
Why do you think a thin neck means a thin sound and chunky neck means a solid tone?
