1. I'm not a fan of that Symphony bass design but I have one of luthier, Marek's early basses which I really like and play a lot.
2. Not exactly a 'board' yet but a growing number of boxes. I've noticed a hum appearing after the 5th effect was added suggesting that the Power Plant is probably at it's peak. The unique Particle pedal is at the end of the chain but it really need to be near my hands as all the controls sound great if manipulated live. My suspicion is I'll drop the Talking Machine and Particle for electronic gigs and add a looper on the end.
3.
I still remember this bass well from a trip to The Gallery. I went there looking for some inspiration as to what my new main bass should be. On that day I played, amongst others, a couple of Wals (including Pino's), a Pedulla, a MM Stingtray or 2, a Sandberg, some Seis... but this was my favourite. It remains one of the top few basses I've played, so light, so well balanced and gorgeous to play. The guy in the shop really likes it too. If I hadn't been introduced to ACG customs around that time, I would have had this. The only reservation I had was it doesn't appeal to me aesthetically. But if the look of this tickles your fancy, buy it. It's fantastic.
It is a terrific bass, alright. I'm surprised it hasn't sold.
4.
Seems to me that the 'bigotry' stuff at the start of the post is there as a lead-in to a heartfelt if entirely conventional wail about being rejected by bands (or impeded from applying) because of one's years on the planet being greater in total than the combined age of the rollicking pups who placed the ad. I don't think band ageism has got anything to do with competence or lack thereof. It's because peppy young things don't want to spend time hanging out with people who remind them of their dad, may possibly smell of wee and gig a teeny rig because of their bad back. The other thing is that older men have usually lost whatever good looks they had by the time they're thirty and the mythical record company will immediately finger any uglies or crumblies as a no-no and demand their ejection before pen hits paper. Keeping coffin-dodgers out of bands is good commercial sense. Music is an outpost of fashion and fashion is all about looking cute. Put three trim, handsome lads onstage alongside a superannuated warthog dressed like a sack of sh*t tied up in the middle and audience members from the age of 5 to 65 will point and laugh and cry 'Who is that silly old fool up there, prancing around like a spavined eejit? Who is he? Do tell?' and filming it on their smartphones and tweeting it as '!!!This OAP is in the wrong band!!!' And rightly so. Once past a certain age one should put aside childish things like 'being in a band' and focus on technique, performance and a mastery of one's instrument. Once achieved, one should establish a loose collective with like-minded geriatrics and play jazz. I understand that it's big in Felixstowe so I can't see why it can't be rolled out on a national basis. .
Chortle!
5. Indifference is always your No.1 enemy as a musician. It's certainly not bigotry in my experience. Having said that, men in their fifties who are still playing in bands are largely seen as hobbyists and are incredibly easy to ignore no matter how many good/interesting musical ideas we may have... especially if we're playing a genre of music associated with a kind of youth cult (Rock and Pop).
6.
some noodling with a EHX freeze..... https://youtu.be/gmSO8iDsTiA?t=2m50s (the reverb is from a TC HoF) The EHX is nice n the way it adds a slight modulation(?) to the chord so its not a constant pitch (may someone else can explain better) Had mine a few months and really like it. Agree with comments about the clicky switch though!
Yes, I've noticed that slight modulation too. I think the pedal could be improved though - it is rather simple and some more modulation options would make the drones less static (tremolo and gating effects, for example)
7. Definitely go for a short scale! Much easier to stretch down the bigger end (even easier with a narrow nut spacing) and much more fun to play IMO.
8. I use this one, it very versatile I think it's Polish -made. It's reviewed here: But I mostly use the inbuilt spectracomp in the TC amp because then I don't have to carry around an extra pedal. I'd recommend the TC spectracomp pedal - you can't go wrong and you can set it up how you want it with the preset
9.
Can't believe this is still here!
Yeah! One of the most sought-after basses in the U.S. from a world-famous luthier... but not much interest here it seems....
10. I have one. I'd been dreaming of a pedal like this for years; something that captured the essence of a sound without turning in to a bumpy, nagging loop. Dream come true. I love it.
11. My hero. I still Marvel at his bass lines. Much missed.

Anybody else got this? Interested....
15. Bumping again...
16.
Workshop model so currently available... you know you want to...
Is it kept at the workshop for customers to try out?
17. Still available
18. Blimey, sorry I missed it. Any idea who owns the Wal Mk3 4-string? (sycamore/maple facings). I've always wanted to try one of those...
19. It's actually remarkably easy to swap tasks with hands but you need a reason to do it. Try using a mouse for example. Doesn't take long to get used to it in the other hand.
20. To complicate things somewhat, I've noticed that a thicker FINGERBOARD can often make a bass sound brighter and more lively and I've heard luthiers say the same thing.
21. I don't know, although most of my basses have thin necks and I still manage to make them sound astounding.
22. The no.1 mid-priced bass IMO. They're great.
