    I'm always talking about him. A great innovator. He basically combined a very guitary approach (chords and bluesy solos) with trad bass playing...in one go.

    I use the -27s (bought via the £40 MU scheme). Good at killing higher frequencies but they still let a lot of boomy stuff through.

    https://youtu.be/kuATlRNAyXs When I first started playing bass in the late 70's and early 80's loads of people had a very similar sound to this. Nice and clean, played with a pick. Maybe I'm getting old and nostalgic but I tend to prefer it it to the soft, finger-style sound you're more likely to hear these days.

    If you have Logic Pro you can do this with arpegiator. Just choose from the presents and drop the octave if necessary. Simple.

    £450 now £400 In superb, as new condition 34" scale 40mm nut 18mm string spacing Weighs aprox 9.5 lbs Currently strung with Chrome flatwounds but can replace with roundwounds if preferred. It doesn't come with a hard case, unfortunately. The bass is located in London..

    The reissue is about £800 as is the Hofner model mentioned earlier on in the thread. Quite expensive, IMO. I don't know what the originals go for.
