1.
I like it. There's a slightly wider palette of sounds going on compared to "One Did", but still very recognisably yourselves.
Yep, we've worked on that for this new album
2. Ah, thanks. Yes, I can understand it's an acquired taste like black olives or Guiness...
3. The first video from the new album 'Thing or Two' out May 1st. Lots of 'bass action' in this one http://youtu.be/j-nIP_TYsrU
4. After 20 months ....finally SOLD Thank you, sir
5. Only six serial numbers away from mine. I wish I could afford it.
6. http://youtu.be/EppFlvbPO8k The complete remastered album is now up on Youtube and a free download over at Bandcamp if you fancy it. Kev
7. I have three that scale CB Ball bass (currently for sale) Stradi GMR
8. Very difficult tone to emulate, in fact there's no one who really sounds like him - that gigantic, grinding vibrating sound. I love the way his lines climb then dip suddenly. They're just fantastic bass parts.
9. Bidding is a wretched process. I haven't 'won' anything in years and prices go up to what you can buy it for new pretty much every time. I hate it. It might be alright if you're looking for toilet lids and radiators, I suppose. I'm not surprised 'buy it new' is commonplace because who wants to go through that bidding process?
10.
I really like the Bass sound, along with lovely playing and a unique composition (very original and reminds me of what an electric modern day, Carl Stalling piece would sound like) Not keen on the looks though. It does look like it would be at home in 'Looney Tunes' or 'Merrie Melodies' productions. Good stuff.
Thanks. I do love the Carl Thompson shape - it makes every other bass shape feel like a big, unbalanced lump in comparison.
11. A little recording of it here: http://youtu.be/o4oHin_Gh6A
12. I'm not a fan of that Symphony bass design but I have one of luthier, Marek's early basses which I really like and play a lot.

14. Not exactly a 'board' yet but a growing number of boxes. I've noticed a hum appearing after the 5th effect was added suggesting that the Power Plant is probably at it's peak. The unique Particle pedal is at the end of the chain but it really need to be near my hands as all the controls sound great if manipulated live. My suspicion is I'll drop the Talking Machine and Particle for electronic gigs and add a looper on the end.
15.
I still remember this bass well from a trip to The Gallery. I went there looking for some inspiration as to what my new main bass should be. On that day I played, amongst others, a couple of Wals (including Pino's), a Pedulla, a MM Stingtray or 2, a Sandberg, some Seis... but this was my favourite. It remains one of the top few basses I've played, so light, so well balanced and gorgeous to play. The guy in the shop really likes it too. If I hadn't been introduced to ACG customs around that time, I would have had this. The only reservation I had was it doesn't appeal to me aesthetically. But if the look of this tickles your fancy, buy it. It's fantastic.
It is a terrific bass, alright. I'm surprised it hasn't sold.
16.
Seems to me that the 'bigotry' stuff at the start of the post is there as a lead-in to a heartfelt if entirely conventional wail about being rejected by bands (or impeded from applying) because of one's years on the planet being greater in total than the combined age of the rollicking pups who placed the ad. I don't think band ageism has got anything to do with competence or lack thereof. It's because peppy young things don't want to spend time hanging out with people who remind them of their dad, may possibly smell of wee and gig a teeny rig because of their bad back. The other thing is that older men have usually lost whatever good looks they had by the time they're thirty and the mythical record company will immediately finger any uglies or crumblies as a no-no and demand their ejection before pen hits paper. Keeping coffin-dodgers out of bands is good commercial sense. Music is an outpost of fashion and fashion is all about looking cute. Put three trim, handsome lads onstage alongside a superannuated warthog dressed like a sack of sh*t tied up in the middle and audience members from the age of 5 to 65 will point and laugh and cry 'Who is that silly old fool up there, prancing around like a spavined eejit? Who is he? Do tell?' and filming it on their smartphones and tweeting it as '!!!This OAP is in the wrong band!!!' And rightly so. Once past a certain age one should put aside childish things like 'being in a band' and focus on technique, performance and a mastery of one's instrument. Once achieved, one should establish a loose collective with like-minded geriatrics and play jazz. I understand that it's big in Felixstowe so I can't see why it can't be rolled out on a national basis. .
Chortle!
17. Indifference is always your No.1 enemy as a musician. It's certainly not bigotry in my experience. Having said that, men in their fifties who are still playing in bands are largely seen as hobbyists and are incredibly easy to ignore no matter how many good/interesting musical ideas we may have... especially if we're playing a genre of music associated with a kind of youth cult (Rock and Pop).
18.
some noodling with a EHX freeze..... https://youtu.be/gmSO8iDsTiA?t=2m50s (the reverb is from a TC HoF) The EHX is nice n the way it adds a slight modulation(?) to the chord so its not a constant pitch (may someone else can explain better) Had mine a few months and really like it. Agree with comments about the clicky switch though!
Yes, I've noticed that slight modulation too. I think the pedal could be improved though - it is rather simple and some more modulation options would make the drones less static (tremolo and gating effects, for example)
19. Definitely go for a short scale! Much easier to stretch down the bigger end (even easier with a narrow nut spacing) and much more fun to play IMO.
