1. I broke a D string mid set recently and it totally threw me. I was on fretless and had to switch to fretted. It sounded bloody awful.
2.
No love for this fantastic fretless? Please help me fund a new mixer
On the contrary, lots of love for it here. I'd buy it immediately if I didn't have two lovely fretless basses already. Somebody's gonna get a beautiful instrument. Have a bump.
3.
This bass REALLY is the best bass I have ever played, never mind owned. Eude
I've heard that before! Only joking, it looks fabulous
4. There's about four notes in it. You don't have time?
5. I generally can't get on with other bass player's basses. They're usually too big, bulky and heavy or covered in black lacquer or something.
6.
For me, swapping to & from it does cause a little issue with left hand positioning / fretting - as I can overshoot / over-stretch if I'm not very careful It shouldn't really be a problem - but I am also swapping from bass guitar to DB as well.... so maybe that's part of my problem?
This is my main problem: switching from my 30" scale to the 34" during a gig is irritating because of the adjustment required.
7. As others have said, they are generally floppier and hence bassier, looser, with less twang. You can compensate with heavier or high tension strings. That's what I do.
8. What is the nut dimension and the string spacing?
9. 'Driving home for Christmas' is a lovely song.
10. I don't get this band. His voice sounds like a strangled cat, they look like dorks, they write streams of hippy goblin nonsense land there's slathers of horrible, tuneless, metal guitar over everything. Mysteriously, all the commenters reckon they're musical geniuses. On the plus side they come across as nice fellas - but this rockumentary is dull as ditch water for all but die-hard fans.
11. Mine arrived today with no problems. Tempted to order more...
12. Robert Wyatt's gorgeous, romantic and beautiful 'Muddy Mouth' is all about masturbation... by his own admission.
13. Marek is a real talent. I have one of his early basses. GLWTS
14. Yep, mild compression - a fatter, fuller sound. High frequencies seem better integrated somehow. Stronger harmonics. Choose a setting that doesn't completely flatten dynamics and you're away
15. Music, in general, functions really well without BDs...and bass guitars for that matter.
16. Nice! I can't imagine playing something that huge with all those ringing strings that need dampening but admire anyone who can.
