1. There are way more than 3 Off the top of my head I go for: Billy Sheehan Stu Hamm Geddy Lee
2. Wow! Thanks for your advice, and input. I had a feeling about the feedback issues. I had a hunch that I wouldn't be able to use one all night playing hard rock covers. It seems that most of these do have a 50/60's vibe about them. I do love the psycho bass best so far. I have seen them on the bay and was outbid. also, one seller started the bidding at£280.00, needless to say nobody wanted it for that price. I suppose that if I saw something similar around£180.00 I would probably go for it (funds permitting). Mainly because it would be a work of art on the wall ,played occasionally. A bass picasso if you like That's the trouble with these GAS moments :you have to look at the full picture when something catches the eye Please post some more pictures and share some more thoughts if you have any Cheers
3.
Practice and if needsbe simplify the bass line. Saw Slayer once close up and while singing Tom Araya played quite striaght forward bass lines only showboating when there was no vocal, seemed a goodish move to me.
Tom rules
4. Howdy! I was looking at a couple of loud basses over the last few months. Rather than going down the expensive route of giving one of my basses a custom colour, I was looking at the above..namely a CHARVEL SURFCASTER BASS & aDEAN PSYCHO CABBIE BASS. Do any of you think that these(or similar basses) work? (ie could you play these all night in a rock covers band etc.) Please give me some advice, and some pics of yours if possible. I don't know if I'll be looking to purchase one just yet.If I did ,I wouldn't wanna part with 'silly money'. Cheers Ray
5. Thought I'd give you an update.and wrap this up. New set arrived on the Tuesday as stated. All was fine.not too keen on the finish onthe rear of these..looks like drink was spilt on them! Bad design I guess. I received emails a few days and a week later from the people mentioned previously in this post. Told them case closed. Have been using them over the last few days ,and think that they are good and look good on my desktop setup. Thanks for your help guys pics from mobile phone
6. I think it's a great toy. I wouldn't feel confident gigging with it. (plus the fact your bandmates may get a bit miffed if you're looking for certain sounds) I think that if you really want a certain amp sound, then the best thing is to save up and buy that make of amp.If you need to colour your sound after that ,then consider getting seperate pedals or if you are really adventureous -a less complicated effects unit.
7. done it Nicky Horne just mentioned it on Planet Rock Radio
8. I've4 got a v-amp pro. Don't really use it enough either. Good fun tho' despite the lame manuals . One thing that is very annoying...on the Behringer website all downloads are pc only and not mac
9. Ah,CH Guitars...my friends company. He sells lots of guitar /bass parts now. Check him out on the bay.
10. Graham Noden (Denmark Street) Always busy ,nice folk there.
11.
Anyone seen these yet? http://www.fender.com/roadworn/site.php?language=uk_english (skip the intro it's rubbish!) Relic style '60's Jazz & '50's Precision. I think they are MIM rather than MIA but Fender site isn't clear (unless I'm missing it somewhere). Here's a Jazz: and a P: Both also come in Fiesta Red: Opening price from UK dealers seems to be around the £950 mark so maybe they are MIA after all - or just very expensive MIM?
The necks on these things look too new. Because of that, the result is very shoddy. If I was gonna relic something, Id at least make sure the whole bass looked in the same state. They look crap anyway(my opinion)
12. I like steiney strings.
13. did it say in the ad"also selling locally"? If so, then it's been sold legitimately. On the other hand, maybe it was bogus
14. Did the graphic make much difference?
15. Need another Aguilar DB112(BOSS TWEED) Will be selling my EDEN NEMESIS NC-250 COMBO May let my SCHECTER DIAMOND SERIES STILETTO 5 STRING go if I see something whacky like a charvel surfcaster/dean psycho cabby bass. or bass with whammy like steinberger trans trem. Don't know much about the basses on my potential wish list ,but they look loud and cool!
16. Aaaargh! I purchased the DB112 NT(tweed) new and the AG500SC from Mistahbenn late last year. I'm on the lookout for another DB112 and Rack/cabinet cover(BOTH TWEED) Shame that you're not selling those I'm London based also I suppose it's my way of giving you a bump. You'll sell this very quickly..good luck with the sale
17. Well, way back when I first started to find out about slapping /tapping etc. I had similar problems. My first proper bass was my washburn status( a very bright, active bass with graphite neck). Around the same time I used to go to various music fairs (wembley/novotel etc.) As headless strings were more expensive back then(1989/90),I used to get a few cheap sets of Trace Elliot strings. Anyway, after my attempts at slapping(I was eager then-don't bother with it now), I found that the brightness used to go after a couple of hours&I changed them too frequently really in hindsight. I should have left them on,as in my opinion Bass is bass . It's not really supposed to be a twangy instrument is it? (may have started something off here) It didn't take me(too) long to adapt back to the original bass sound I prefer before I attempted all that slapping. Nowadays ,I leave my strings on as long as I can.(If I was/will be gigging regularly I would change more frequent) One other thing for any users of the washburn Status: the electrics in the bass packed up o ver time and the bass is now passive &the band prefer the modification. In a roundabout way, hope this helps
18. It'll be interesting to hear how it all pans out. I don't think I'll touch mine -unless the result here is very noticeable. Look forward to your findings
19.
Best of luck getting it sorted, can be a real bugger getting things like this sorted! However, maybe cut them a little slack as most companies are totally overworked over the Christmas/new year period... hopefully it all works out over the next few days. Its more annoying when they promise the world and fail to deliver, they should probably have just said 'we'll get it sorted as soon as possible, really sorry' instead of making up a date just to make you end the call asap...
Thanks,I'm supposed to be getting it on tuesday. It's true about the xmas thing, but an email/phone call would have avoided this hassle.I was being efficient to them, letting them know by email that parcel was collected etc. If it comes on Tuesday ,then I've no( more )complaints
20.
Could Meet Half Way
Thanks for the offer,unfortunately I don't drive.
21. Got an email this morning from Robin Heyworth, who is now looking into it...
22.
I was in their Brum shop today buying me new toy (Kaoss Pad) and I have nothing but good things to say (long story)! I reckon the problem might be down to the UPS shipping; there was a bloke who was checking out a guitar, and then noticed that it had a huge bump (more of a smash, and the inlay on the fretboard was damaged (didn't see how). One of the guys said that that was the 3rd item that had been shipped by UPS that had been damaged en route. Who knows?
Gotta be honest about UPS:They delivered original package promptly. They collected faulty goods promptly. The problem lies wit DV:The damage looks like one of their staff spilt sticky drink on rear of both speakers. Speakers were also scratched. Plus the fact that they did tell me that I should have new replacement by today. What happened was ,no communication from DV after ups collected faulty goods.
23. This man could've been of assistance if he was around (Sorry)
24. Shame you live so far away I'm based in Twickenham.(greater London) Good luck with sale
