  1. One of my best friends is of the same opinion. He's wrong too. 😆
  2. Damn! I wish I hadn't just spent £500 on a recording interface now. 😆
  3. I hate Bulgarian music. Which is unfortunate because I live in Bulgaria. It seems to me to be like traditional Greek music on speed. Usually with a clarinet shoehorning about 40 notes into every beat. Or even worse, a keyboard on clarinet setting. It's just a horrible cacophony of disjointed noise. Usually accompanied by a woman wailing as if she's just lost her nearest and dearest. It's almost as bad as jazz. Almost!
  4. I've never felt the need for one personally. In fact I think a thumb rest would just get in the way and annoy me. When playing the lowest string my hand is free floating, when playing on any other string my thumb is either resting on the string below, or floating / muting the strings below. I don't know if this is considered poor or good technique. It's not something I've ever particularly thought about or practiced. It's just the way I naturally play.
  5. Janis Joplin. The last time I heard something make a noise like that it had been run over.
  6. Yes. And I will continue to do so. I didn't create the system, but I shall damn well continue to exploit it wherever possible. If you have the money for £1000 amp, then good for you. I don't.
  7. My musical knowledge when it comes to bands is barely above zero. I think there's maybe two or three bands that i could name all the members, and maybe only about 30 where I could name more than a single member. I also couldn't name a single track by the vast majority of bands I hear mentioned on here regularly. On the other end of the scale. I can sing along with many songs word for word, but if you asked me who the artist was, I wouldn't have a single clue.
  8. I couldn't tell him his wrong. I couldn't even name one of their tracks. 😆
  9. I know what I'd go for if I had a spare 500 quid knocking around. 😋 https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/464629-ibanez-srff806-bks-6-string-manchester-price-drop-£495/
  10. Exactly. It's the way of the world. Absolutely pointless moaning about it if the companies involved can't, or won't enforce it. Whether the people who can afford the originals like it or not, these things exist, and while ever they do, I will buy them, simply because i can't afford the high prices "originals". The hard truth of the matter is, if it wasn't for companies like Behringer and HB, I and millions like me couldn't afford to be musicians. Why should music be yet another thing that's only available to the rich? Long live the rip offs! Now I'm off to put on my Aditoff tracksuit and Reebark trainers, and go to the shop for a lovely packet of McTitties biscuits.
  11. No. OBS is a live broadcast software that will allow you to capture and transmit (or record) from a video and audio source. It would be perfect for your original query of live recording a screen while you narrate what you are doing "live". But it's not designed in any way for video editing.
  12. Another one. I could go all day on these but I'm trying to ration myself. Eric Clapton is the most overrated guitarist of all time. Absolutely dull as dishwater.
  13. Bugera may have been named after a car. But Markbass looks like it's been styled by Halfords. 😆
  14. Yup. Just deleted the spam email and unsubscribed from the mailing list for about the third time.
  15. I'm with Stu in this one. There's no danger of me ever buying a Genz, so Bugera certainly aren't stealing my custom. What they are doing, is providing an absolutely stonking amp at a budget that I can afford. Long live Bugera, Beringer, Harley Benton et all.
  16. I can't stand DJ's, and I find it utterly ridiculous that people would flock in their thousands to watch, what is essentially a human CD multi-changer flouncing around on stage like they're actually creating something.
  17. OBS Studio. Free, easy to use, and does everything you need plus a lot more.
  18. Don't know the model. But my wife (band singer) has a Seinheisser. She's had it for probably 20 years and it's an absolutely fantastic mic.
  19. Thank God! I thought it was just me. Absolutely agree with this 100% I'd never even heard of Jaco until I joined this forum, so I looked him up on YouTube, and I thought it was a wind up. It's like a bad comedy spoof of a bass player.
  20. Some of these might be a bit controversial, but seeing as it's purely about personal opinion. I think Oasis are probably the most overrated band of the last 50 years, whilst Extreme are probably the most underrated. I absolutely loathe jazz. To my ear it's just noise pollution. Noodly jazz bassists just sound ridiculous. I also hate the whole rock / rap crossover thing (and rap in general) It's the worst thing that ever happened to rock music. Thunder should have been the biggest band in the world.
  21. It actually did. If ever further proof were needed that the voting is tactical and political, it was proven this year beyond any shadow of a doubt. Ukraine could have walked on, kicked over a microphone, then left and they'd still have won. England coming second was also, at least in part, political. As they are seen across most of Europe as spearheading the support for Ukraine, which bought them a boat load of temporary good will. Although it's only speculation and there's no way of proving it, I highly suspect that in 'normal times' the UK wouldn't have come anywhere near the top 3. Although in fairness, it didn't hurt that they actually entered a credible act for a change.
  22. To be fair, I think "nice enough voice" is a bit of an understatement. His voice is pretty outstanding. Unlike most of the has beens, or never were's that the UK usually pumps out for Eurovision, he already had a massive following. He was in fact the biggest UK music artist on TikTok up until very recently, when he was overtaken by Ed Sheeran. Don't get me wrong. I can't stand Eurovision, and I absolutely loathe TikTok, but it's definitely the social media platform of the future. He was shared by several top tier, high profile artists on their own pages after covering their songs. So he already had a pretty large global profile even before Eurovision. I have to begrudgingly respect that the guy has, at the very least, put the work in and built a huge following off his own back.
  23. Kyiv has been in my to do list for a few years now, both for a city break and the launch point for the Chernobyl excursion. I'm actually closer to the Ukrainian border than London is to the Scottish border. Wouldn't it be wonderful if things were settled enough for them to actually host it next year? Sadly I can't see it happening. ☹️
