  1. Knocking over the guitars gets a standing ovation for best song of the night.
  2. Very tenuous. He must be short of cash. Other than the title, they have absolutely nothing in common.
  3. Probably fit in perfectly at a jazz gig. How would anyone know the difference?
  4. One of the greatest vocalists of all time for me. I mean, the bloke was an absolute not job, but a superb vocal range.
  5. Sadly this is not unusual. I worked the doors for about 6 years and had to deal with people like this on a nightly basis. It's one of the reasons I won't do night time pub / club gigs now. I'm afraid there's absolutely no way I could keep my cool and deal with the situation as diplomatically as you did. Well played. 👍
  6. I think you may have missed the joke, but yes indeed. Still one of my favourite bands of all time. Their first album still ranks as one of the greatest debut albums ever released for me, almost (but not quite) up there with Appetite For Destruction.
  7. There's a thread on here entitled. "Rap. No, it doesn't start with a C". I'd happily remove the '''nt" from that title.
  8. Mojo and heft. What more do you want from a cab? 😆
  9. Great to see so many gigs happening at last. Keep up the good work chaps. 👌
  10. I've finally made it to level 14 and cemented my status as Grand Poobar. I'm only 47. I feel like I've peaked too young! It's all downhill from here.
  11. When I was a kid, I thought Mike Reid off the radio invented Fairly Liquid. I genuinely thought the song on the advert said "Hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face, with Mike Reid's Fairy Liquid".
  12. Precisely. It's the unpopular musical opinions thread, and that's one of mine. I don't expect anyone else to share it. Another one. Jim Steinmann was a genius!
  13. On the other side of the coin, I always assumed that I was singing Tubthumping by Chumbawumba wrong, because there's no way they'd play "P#ssing the night away" on the radio. Would they? 😳
  14. I can't concentrate when I hear jazz. It makes my brain itch. Can't stand it.
  15. It's not so much that I don't like instrumentals. It's just that for me, vocals, and especially lyrics are the most important part of a song. Without it there's just no focus. I could probably happily tap my feet to an instrumental, but I wouldn't play it more than once because it's meaningless. As for Vulfpeck. I'd rather listen to roadworks.
  16. The Cult's Edie (ciao baby) Before the advent of the internet and lyrics sites, I always used to think the lyrics were "A wh@re's darling queen Edie". Turns out it's actually "Worhol's darling queen Edie".
  17. Very well done. I've seen Maiden several times, and Steve Harris is probably the closest thing I have to a favourite bassist.
  18. Nope. Sorry. Bass solos do nothing for me whatsoever. Although I can totally see why some people would like it. For me the bass is just a part of a story, and the lead voice in any story is the vocal. Controversially (and probably the most unpopular opinion on here so far) I have very little interest in the bass guitar as an instrument, except in the overall context of a band. I don't listen to music for the bass, and very rarely pick bass lines out as a discerning factor. It's all about how the band works as a whole. I have absolutely no time for showboating bassists, no matter how talented. For me the bass is a supporting instrument. It's the backbone of the band. As soon as it starts to take a lead role I lose interest pretty quickly.
  19. Talented? Sure. Would I listen to it again? Absolutely not. No hook, no meaning, and absolutely nothing that resonates with me at all.
  20. I'd go with the exact opposite. Without lyrics and a good vocal, music is utterly meaningless.
