  1. You're sure you're not confusing bass-players with badgers?
  2. I've been to a couple of memorable gigs (and not in a good way) where I left feeling I might've just as well stayed at home and put on the record...Dire Straits and Chris Rea being two that spring to mind. It's nice to think that the band up on stage that you may have paid good money to see at least acknowledge your existence. It's a good idea to have some little bit of banter prepared in case of tech issues, just as much as it's important to keep the flow going.
  3. Just home from The Rolling Stones Story tribute band's first trip to Dublin. A pretty great show, the guy doing Mick Jagger nails it, and the guy on bass was excellent.
  4. @yorks5stringer you should be able to zoom right down to street level. From a quick look at the map, it just seems you're the only bass in a 50-mile radius. As for the 2 USAs thing, if you zoom out enough, there's actually 6! God help us. On the issue raised above about leaving yourself open to robbery...or homeless bassists turning up on your doorstep for tea and toast...I do strongly urge vagueness in pinning yourself.
  5. I've deleted one of you. I just hope it's the right one!
  6. Great response so far, folks, thank you. I should mention that it may seem like there's only one pin on the map in more populated areas (London, say, or BIrmingham...not Shropshire, obviously😁). If you click on the pin the top entry should show there's '1 of 5' or whatever. You can edit address to move away from the crowd. Also, I've noticed a couple of people with multiple entries, probably due to being so keen to represent their area. I'd forgotten to mention I have to approve entries (had a bad experience a while back with some childish clown posting multiple entries all over the place and even editing valid entries) so there may be a delay in your entry showing up. Sorry about that. Keep 'em coming!
  7. Ohh, give it time...I only posted a couple of hours ago, and already have 20 additions to the map.🙂
  8. Greetings, folks. I'll start by admitting I spent most of my online bass-forum time over on TalkBass, where I can amuse myself poking fun at whatever nonsense is currently exercising the hive mind. Anyways, one of my little projects that proved popular over there is a map, showing member locations (as approximate as anyone is comfortable with, obviously). Given that there's far too many Americans represented, I thought I might try and balance things out by letting folks here add themselves. Just open the map, hit the ADDITIONS tab, then ADD MARKER, and, well, you're all intelligent enough to work it out from there, I'm sure. Here's the link... https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=2931050
  9. One of the best musicals ever written for sure... As for Rita Moreno...
  10. Go for it. Just make sure to announce at the start of the set that the guitarist has had some sort of really embarrassing 'issue' but you're gonna soldier on as best you can. Get the audience on your side. In fact, if you can, have them sing the widdly bits...😁
  11. Does TAB count? Asking for a friend...
  12. IF I ever come into a bit of decent cash, one of the first things I'll be doing is contacting Wilcock Basses for a custom order.
  13. First gig since the Covid hit... Seasick Steve, Vicar St, Dublin. Just him and his drumming powerhouse, Dan Magnusson. Absolutely excellent, great sound, although vocals could've been a bit better at the beginning, but that did improve. For a guy his age, ol' Steve certainly wasn't lacking in energy, although he did play seated most of the show. He also seemed to simply be having a great time, which I always love to see.
  14. Interview starts 1 hour 35 minutes in, in case anyone's wondering.🙂
  15. Great question. I'm betting Wagon Wheel, Brown-Eyed Girl, Congratulations, Happy Birthday, Twist And Shout and the national anthem, for starters.
