  1. I'm a little bit obsessed with The Charismatic Voice on YouTube. Of course it doesn't hurt that she's extremely attractive and has one of the most emotive and expressionate faces I've ever seen, and a voice like butter. Sometimes I'm not even sure what she's reacting to, and I'm not sure I even care. 😆
  2. My Mum told me if I kept playing with it I'd go blind. So I just played with it a little bit and now I wear glasses.
  3. I started the original "I Hate Gigging" thread. Now with a new band, doing our own original music. We're much more on the same page with how often we want to gig than the previous band we were in (6 piece) where nobody could agree on anything. I'm finding it a lot more enjoyable this time around, but I'm still crippled with anxiety going on stage, although having watched back some of our performances in video you would never know it. I wish I felt half as confident as I look.
  4. Yeah it's such a shame they have to ruin it with that bloody SDGR logo that looks like a font from a 90's word processor.
  5. Hi Christina. Welcome to the forum. So sorry to hear about your son. We may need a little more information to see if anyone knew him. Full name, general age, area he lived in, the name of any bands he may have played in, etc.
  6. I'm the exact opposite. I think the Fender headstock is pretty much the ugliest thing I've ever seen on an instrument. I can just about live with the Telecaster shape, but the P and J basses with their bulbous shape and huge, flat, elephant ear tuners are hideous. It's the main reason I'd never buy a Fender or one of their many clones. I just couldn't bare to play something with a headstock that ugly and the rest of it varying degrees of blandness.
  7. I'd prefer to play blind drunk. It would help with the nerves, but I don't. If it's a casual, barbeque, garden party kind of deal I might have one before going on. Anything where playing to the paying public I generally only drink afterwards.
  8. I'd only have to charge an extra pound for every a$$hole I've had to work for and I could have retired to the Saychelles at 40.
  9. This just popped up on my YouTube home page when I was on there a few minutes ago. You is famous innit! 😁
  10. Yup. If that came on a sub £200 bass I'd still send it back. Let alone a Lakeland.
  11. I think it's "out of". Not for me I'm afraid. It's too jazz. By which I mean, to my ear the timing is all over the place. Which might be really clever, as I am assured, is jazz. But my brain just can't process it. To me it just sounds wrong. Maybe I'm just a heathen. 😆
  12. Yes. In summer I sweat when I'm playing. In winter I wear a jumper.
  13. Excellent! I bet that's gonna be a great buzz.
  14. It seems to be common running through this thread that the snobbery is against anything other than Fenders. In that case I'm more than happy to be looked down on. I'd rather plan an elastic band than a Fender.
  15. I've got the Harley Benton Airborn Pro, as does my guitarist. We both use then both for practice and gigging and I can't fault it at all for the money.
  16. Indeed, and if there was ever any doubt, the machine head at a "jaunty" angle confirmed it.
  17. I find the whole thing a bit silly to be honest. It's probably the same sort of people who complain about clip on tuners being left on during gigs. Who gives a sh#t? At long as the audience and band are enjoying it, you could have a full set of Encyclopedia Britannica on stage for all I care.
  18. I watched the first two last night. I quite enjoyed them. The Sex Pistols were way before my time, but I was aware of them by the time I got to my teens, and of course played the almost compulsory for any young rock covers band, Anarchy in the UK. I know absolutely nothing about Steve whatshisface who's memoirs it's based on, so it's interesting as a stand alone drama. I'm not sure how accurate it is, and I'm not sure I really care. So far it's a decent watch, and the guy playing Johnny had me in stitches. He's got the mannerisms down to a T.
  19. If those are the rules i can't work out how I'm in a band. 😆
  20. Sounds like a much better candidate. Fingers crossed for you.
  21. I'm equally as happy the other way around. If someone isn't the greatest musician, but they're a good fit socially for the band, and they're willing to work. That's good enough for me.
  22. I have the same thing when I get to certain song parts. I think I'm going to c@ck it up, so the anxiety builds the closer I get to the part, then by the time I actually get there is almost inevitable I'm going to mess it up because the nervous energy has risen to such a high, that playing anything is almost impossible.
  23. I thought I was going insane for a while there. Why are there six tuners on a 5 string bass? Took me ages to figure out one of them was a shadow on the wall behind. 😆
