  1. I don't know why this is particularly surprising. It's been all over the news for months that the price of firewood is going up.
  2. I've taken pillo...... erm , punters outside for less. The last one got a spanking for grabbing the guitarists hat. 🤠
  3. I think it's more or less just an esthetic thing. I used to prefer the looks of a more modern bass ( my tastes are slowly changing ) For a good few years I've played a Traben as my main bass, and they're very much considered "metal". The band I'm in is about as far from metal as you can get, and the thing sounds absolutely sublime with an excellent tonal range that would fit nicely in any genre. On the other side of the coin you have people like Steve Harris who almost defined the genre and has happily played a P Bass for decades.
  4. Brilliant! Really pleased for you Smanth.
  5. The thing I really like about these are that they look like "proper" instruments with a quality build. Rather than the cheaper models that have a digital toy vibe about them. If happily play this on stage (if I were a guitarist) and the vast majority of people would just assume it was a regular Les Paul or one of the many clones without even realising what was going on under the hood.
  6. I don't think it's either a bot or any kind of scam. As stated above, it's an auto-generated message to start a dialogue with a seller. No more, no less. Some people will maybe be interested in something, then circumstances change, or they find it cheaper and never follow up. People are fickle like that.
  7. I'm not sure about the colour, but that's a great name for a band.
  8. Yeah they're ridiculously good value for money too. They often come up on here for around 60 quid or less.
  9. I love Charles Berthoud. He's a phenomenal player.
  10. If you're buying for the first time or experimenting with many different sounds, then for me a multi effects pedal is the way to go. If you're happy with the sounds you're getting from individual pedals then I wouldn't see the need to swap for a multi effects unit, which can often be very complicated to set up. A good compromise is the zoom MS60B. A total Swiss army knife pedal that will slot into your existing pedal board and give you almost unlimited effects options.
  11. I feel exactly the same way before any gig. No matter how many I do it always fills me with a sense of dread. I envy people who love performing. I hate it!
  12. You've gone and ruined the whole thread now. 😆
  13. Yes I've often found that's the main problem with delay. You need absolutely metronomic timing for it to work properly. As soon as anyone starts to drift it sounds awful.
  14. I often use a bit of reverb to help thicken the sound and sit nice in the mix. Especially with ballad type stuff. I never really understood why reverb comes pre installed on most guitar amps, but hardly ever on bass amps. It's a great tool when used sparingly.
  15. Don't know if it's already been mentioned. Can't be bothered to read 4 pages back. I was surprised to learn Jason Mamoa plays bass. Of course, on him it looks like a ukulele.
  16. I've heard several people say very similar things. If only they weren't so damned ugly! 😆 (YMMV)
  17. Or the Marques 4 for £128. Not particularly my cup o tea, but the reviews are excellent.
  18. As long as he doesn't ask for an encore.
