  1. Weirdly neither do I. They just happened to be that colour.
  2. I like the last one. It's even got the correct number of strings which seems to be getting rarer these days. 😋
  3. Never heard of her. OK voice but musically not really my thing.
  4. Natural wood every time for me given the option. But it's kind of like cars, where unless it's something especially horrid, then colour is pretty low on the list of priorities. Price / quality / condition rate much higher than colour.
  5. Yeah if you had the sound off then you kind of missed the point. 😋
  6. Ha ha. Scary thing is, I actually quite like the body shape.
  7. You can get vinyl banners made up with your own designs / artwork at vista print. You just do it all online. It's dead easy. I always found them quite reasonable. https://www.vistaprint.com/signs-posters/vinyl-banners?xnid=TopNav_Vinyl+Banners_Banners_Signs+and+Posters&xnav=TopNav
  8. New bass and pedal flight case about 2 weeks ago. New strings and strap yesterday (neither of which I actually "needed")
  9. I can't really see how there's any way around sanding. Even if you miraculously and invisibly removed the ink, you would still have the scratches left by the biro. Any attempt at removing the ink with thinners etc would just risk a blotting effect and the ink soaking further into the wood.
  10. "I'm done!" Slam door, walk out. (Sneak back in 5 minutes later and quietly pack up your gear in what feels like the longest 20 minutes of your life.)
  11. My two shorties. (Maybe the semi is technically a mid scale). As I've said before. The Gretsch is an outstanding bass for not a lot of money.
  12. A sub machine gun would be much more useful for children's parties. I'd rather play to pigeons.
  13. I've never seen one of those before. Me likey!
  14. My music tastes have become quite diverse as I've gotten older. I can enjoy listening to anything from ABBA to Bob Marley, but my first musical love and go to listening will always be, what is now trend termed "Classic Rock / Metal", but what was just plain rock when I was growing up (I guess that makes me classic as well 😋). If I had to list my go to bands it would be something like this Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, BonJovi, Skid Row, Thunder, and things along those lines. There was a thread on here not so long ago about how we developed our musical tastes mostly in our teens and I am the epitome of that. Even though I listen to loads of different bands and genres now, I've never really "got into" bands the way I did in my formative years.
  15. You'd have to be metaphysically born yesterday to pay that for a bass.
  16. Anything by Oasis would sound better in Marc Bolan's car.
  17. I quite like it purely aesthetically. It would make a nice ornament if I had a corner somewhere that needed filling.
  18. If you're having trouble dialing in tone and just can't get the sound you're looking for, don't waste money on a new amp, just drink beer! Everything sounds fkin superb after 8 pints. (Unless you live in the South of England, then it's probably cheaper to just buy a new amp)
  19. Well I got round to setting up the Traben yesterday. It didn't need much to be fair. Checked all the frets and they're bang level with no sharp edges. Gave the truss rod a tweak to drop the action to my preferred level. Got rid of the flats it came with and put on some new D'addario rounds. Set the intonation and job done. I must say the thing plays like a dream and sound absolutely amazing. It very much reminds me of my old Warwick Thumb which was five times the price and twice the weight. So all in all I'm well pleased with my purchase. This is definitely going to be my new daily playing and gigging bass. Not to mention the thing looks superb! (ymmv)
  20. That's a shame. Mine is also clean as a whistle. Might be a daft suggestion but have you tried plugging it in in another room or even another building to check it's not an electrical problem. I get all sorts of electrical problems in the house I use for practice which often results in "fizzy" pickups. Ironically the Veyron is the first amp I've used that seems to cure the problem. Failing that then yeah, I'd definitely exchange it. Mine is probably the quietest amp I've ever owned in terms of background noise and interference.
  21. Led Zeppelin stole pretty much everything they ever did, including but certainly not limited to Stairway to Heaven. https://youtu.be/xd8AVbwB_6E
