  1. Just heard this on the radio, great old one and I’m pretty sure Robbie Shakespeare on bass
  2. This is just my opinion, There’s quite a lot of breakout on the fretboard probably from a bad refret, I’m on phone picks but they don’t look level either, wrong decal and knobs and 1 intonation screw is shorter , tuners and pickguard look original , the font on the neck stamp looks right to me , will have a better look later at home , I think I’ve seen this jazz up for sale before
  3. That’s great for your son, I’ve got one which I use for noodling on the sofa which has flats on, I think there’s a few suggestions in this thread which might be worth a flick though
  4. Yeah definitely, they are great, the only time I’d get rid of mine is if a B15 heritage came along
  5. Very nice indeed rich, your fingerboard looks lighter than my 71
  6. Nice one, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, if you are I’ll give you the money myself 😁
  7. Maybe put out a wanted ad here, see how it goes, you never know someone might be moving one on
  8. Interesting read, thanks for that
  9. Hi and welcome, quite a lot of the songs I learn there isn’t tab for, I always look first and if there is it gets me started although it sometimes isn’t correct, I tend to just learn by ear and breaking it down into sections, there is an app which I find useful called Looptube which lets you isolate sections and you can slow it down to make it easier, maybe give that a look
  10. The V4B is my main amp, just my opinion here is that it sounds amazing, and the eq is very versatile, it has got a lot of mid and high if you want but it also does my reggae and dub lows very well too, and I’ve never had any issues with it, I’ve had lots of amps and still got quite a few ,but this is my favourite
  11. Very nice, congratulations and a great colour combination too
  12. Year started playing, lessons as a teen 1978 Number of basses: 15 Music theory: I’d say about 5 Technique: tricky one to score, maybe 4 Groove: I’d like to think I’m in the groove 8
  13. That’s impressive mr k
  14. I don’t use any pedals or effects myself and never have, I’m just valve amp-cab and bass, I don’t really know anyone else who plays reggae using any either, don talks here about how to get the scientist sound you sometimes hear, I seem to remember @SumOne and myself talking about it once
  15. The ampeg PF50T is a lovely thing, not sure if it’s what you’re looking for but they are great for home practice and small venues, and mine is silent with no fan
  16. Among my many favourite songs is Perfidia by Phyllis Dillon , and I recently came across this version by junior English at 3.53, I’m quite liking it
  17. John holt today, such a beautiful song and a nice smooth Bassline
  18. Love it, I’d like to do one myself like the jazz in this
  19. As above, welcome back BA
  20. I don’t know the physics of this but years ago I used to think bigger fatter strings would give me more bass but I don’t think this is the case , I went through so many different ones trying to find the right ones for me, I only use 2 now which are labella LTF’s and labella 760FL , I wouldn’t say I got a stronger sound from the heavier gauge ones just a different sound, I play with a very light touch and never dig in, the hardest ones I found were the Jamerson flats, nice sound but pretty high tension, try as many different ones as you can and you’ll find the right ones for you
  21. Slightly different layout on my iPad Pro and phone but glad you found it
