Really like that and I do like it when a P bass sounds slightly darker -
What are you listening to right now?
Reggaebass replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
A bit of Slim Smith this morning -
This album by Horace Martin is well worth a listen, Horace has been around for a long time but you don’t really hear much about him these days ,apparently he’s popular in Mexico, nice vocals and some great Basslines

Please share your experience of the Ampeg PF-50T
Reggaebass replied to ossyrocks's topic in Amps and Cabs
Hi Rob, I know you’re a long way from me or you would be more than welcome to borrow mine, my experience is they really are a wonderful sounding amp especially with a P bass with flats and very versatile , mine is silent which is great for home use so no hum or noise, volume wise I’ve never had it up full but I’ve had it just over half way and it’s fairly loud , that’s with a Barefaced big baby ll, but I don’t know how much more it would give, Ive got a feeling that it might not be loud enough for you, I know there’s a few here that do use them in their band they might be able to advise more on the volume , maybe @Beer of the Bass, @Beedster -
Love this, there’s no stopping him now, I always like to see young aspiring bass players, best of luck to you

It is quite a wonderful album and mixed by Errol Thompson, I remember reading about it a long time back and it was mentioned that he was experimenting with various sounds to add into the recordings, it’s not until you listen closely you can hear a doorbell at the end of the track chapter 3, there’s also ringing telephones and water sounds, and yes the basslines are superb, from memory another album I’ve still got which I bought from around the time is Fat Man Ridim Section – Bald Head Justice which is Robbie again and Errol Thompson, similar bass tone I think , I actually bought the album not knowing much about it at the time and was totally blown away with the basslines, I was just starting out on bass and learning them on the old cassette tape 😁, another album I must dig out one day

Hi D D and welcome, can I suggest you give us a bit more information as to what your trying to do and we can definitely help you
-
Really great albums, thanks for posting this , I haven’t heard them in a long time, I bought chapter 3 many years ago and it’s still in my collection somewhere in the loft, pretty sure Robbie Shakespeare was on bass

Gasp, I've just ordered a set of roundwound strings!
Reggaebass replied to ossyrocks's topic in General Discussion
Many basses I’ve bought have had rounds already fitted and I’ve always given them a try, it’s not so much the sound I don’t like it’s the rough feel of them, I just prefer the silky smoothness of worn in flats ,and of course the tone, probably the rounds that stayed on the longest which was about a week was the ones that came on my new custom Sandberg, they are quite a nice string -
Massive difference imo, they really do look the business, very nice
-
Yeah great one there thanks sumone, heavy bassline there I’m liking that, linval has always been one of my favourite artists and I follow Roberto , when they got together it was a perfect match I think, I’ve messaged roberto many times and he’s always replied, really nice guy

Looks like this one has reappeared with a slight increase , sold for £2300.00
-
Congrats pete, it looks really great
-
I think they could Lozz, I only use labella myself, I’d say maybe look at the 760FL or if you want a lighter gauge the 760FX, they really aren’t dull and thumpy like some say, there’s lots of mids and brightness to them, i roll mine back for what I play but imo they do the full range , pretty sure Sean Hurley uses the 760FL

Thanks for that one, hard times is one of my all time favourites
-
I very nearly bought a precision recently to try but someone snapped it up , they look to be a pretty decent custom built bass , not built from allparts
-
Nice one Pete, they are very good, look forward to hearing what you think
-
Just had a quick look and the 10 sticker would concern me that it didn’t leave a mark when removed , depending on how long it’s been there, not the original case either , but it does look nice
-
I’d agree with vincbt Pete, £1600-£1800 is right in the ballpark
