  1. We might well ask you the same question, Owen?? 😁
  2. BUMP for this cracking little amp - loud as anything and with that very distinctive GK tone that just cuts through the mix! Along with the Schroeder 410 that's also up for sale here, it's a brilliant room-filling yet lightweight rig. Can't go wrong dealing with Chris either; he's well known here on BC and has a very good rep. GLWTS ☺
  3. I've recently heard this cab in action -'along with the GK MB500 amp that's also for sale here - and it's absolutely superb! Together, the amp & cab make for a really lightweight, powerful and punchy rig... And Chris is a great guy to deal with too. GLWTS ☺
  4. Lovely bass! GLWTS
  5. Thank you - that is wonderful! Yes, very sad news indeed about Max Bennett.. I love his playing, but especially so on Hissing of Summer Lawns and Hejira. RIP.
  6. That all sounds great @rodfunnell I'd say you should definitely add them to the list - preferably with some prices on so people have an idea of what you are asking for the individual items.
  7. I bought a 2004 Gibson Thunderbird last year and absolutely love it! It's light, incredibly easy to play, and sounds incredible whatever style of music I've played with it so far. Having said that, it sounds particularly good within the context of the rock covers band I play in.. There's plenty of definition and articulation from the bridge pick up and the neck pick up gives as much low end as you could ever need. The single biggest surprise for me though was how the T-Bird shape is so clever in its design which allows for such ease of playing, especially in the higher registers.. It's a joy to play! As it happens, mine has the 3 point bridge on it, but that's not been a problem for me so far. Until I got this, I'd never played a Thunderbird but now I completely understand why they are so highly rated by many bassists on here, and elsewhere. Just my 2p worth of course..
  8. +1 This is what makes theses events so exciting.... ...Well, that and all the lovely refreshments provided by Mrs Hamster! 😁
  9. Just been reminded ( a roundabout way) that I ought to BUMP this... So here it is - a BUMP for the Big Block - which will be available to try out at the South East Bash in a couple of weeks time.. ☺
  10. Just sold a custom build Thunderbird to Rod in a deal that was not without its complications... Throughout, he was an absolute gent and very understanding and patient whilst I worked out the best and safest way to get the bass to him. We finally managed to get it all sorted today and I've got to say that it all went very smoothly in the end. So, I'm happy to highly recommend Rod to one and all here on Basschat; great bloke, excellent comms and he has excellent taste in basses! 😁 Thanks for your patience Rod and I hope you enjoy the bass - it's a very good one! Nik
  11. This is such a good price for a quality bass so have a BUMP on me. Probably a sign of the times, but I can remember when these would come up for sale at around the £850-900 mark and be sold within 24 hours or so. GLWTS
  12. Perfect - thanks Dave ☺
  13. Hi again Folks A quick update on this for you... '3.30pm - 4pm: A very brief 'Test of the Heft' workshop - can we really tell or feel the difference between valve amps & Class D amps!(led by Silverfoxnik /chimike & anyone else who's interested...) - ' The plan is to use a couple of Valve amps (my Ampeg V4BH and chimike's Trace V6 (any other valve heads welcome btw) and compare them via a few 4 ohm cabs with some Class D heads, including chimike's Markbass F1 and JapanAxe's Demeter head - again, any other Class D heads welcome for thi. What we do need on the day are a couple of 4 ohm cabs if people don't mind loaning them for this, for example, Gary - your Genz 212 would be good?? Thanks Nik

  17. Definitely not. My best friend is the drummer I was in my first band with 40 years ago and though I moved away from London in 2001, we've still maintained that friendship.. In fact, he depped with my band here in West Sussex a couple of months ago. Alongside that, I'm still reasonably good friends with a lot of musicians I've been in bands with over the years. Mind you - there are a few musos I have fallen out with over the years and coincidentally, they've all been 6 string geetards, or 'Controli Freakati' as that wonderful Huffington Post article referred to them as a few years ago! I shall say no more. 😁
  18. Yep me too; a Schecter 5 String Diamond P bass, a Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 amp and an rack eq unit... Time to start another list !
  19. Might be useful to have a Gear for Sale list too. Anyone planning on bringing anything to sell?
