  1. I was thinking more along the lines of Elvis Costello (guitar), Pino for bass and maybe Stewart Copeland as the token American to keep the Yanks happy.. 😁
  2. Still find myself looking at this bass.. It just looks so cool and rock & roll to me - makes me think of JJ Burnell for some reason, even though I know he used a black P Bass with a maple neck. Anyway, GLWTS (again)
  3. Good point about KT Tunstall - I remember watching that episode of Later and being blown away by how good she was.. @Marvin - yep, I thought that too about the lack of any reference to Punk and Grunge. Even more surprising when you think of who presented the show!
  4. +1 Uli Roth was a real surprise - what an intelligent and talented guy.. I really enjoyed this episode but of the three, I think the first one was the best, though all three made for good music related TV. Not quite sure why the Beeb went for three American presenters though? They all did a great job but nonetheless, it would have been nice to see some of our very knowledgeable and talented UK artists given this opportunity.
  5. I still think punters know and react accordingly when they're listening to something really, really good, even if they don't know why... Would be very interesting to see this idea put to the test though. 😊
  6. Absolutely beautiful! Well in my eyes it is.. 😊 Stunning workmanship & playability and as tonally versatile as you'll ever need. Works in any musical setting too; not just a 'Rock' bass as BC Rich basses are often thought of.. Bernard Edwards used one of these from time to time, and he's undoubtedly one of the funkiest bassists this planet's ever seen. Anyway, I could go on all day about how good these are but it's only my 2p worth of course.. GLWTS
  7. That's a very good price for a quality bass! GLWTS
  8. Just like my BC Rich Eagle which also has the twin Dimarzio P p/up arrangement.. and they sound great together! GLWTS
  9. +1 Great bass, great seller! GLWTS 😊
  10. +1 That is a bass of great beauty! 😊 GLWTS
  11. My BC Rich Eagle is 34" scale, so would imagine this is the same..
  12. Yep! In looks, sound and playability.. This is a brilliant price for one of these too. GLWTS 😊
  13. Great show and very informative as well.. Sheila E was absolutely brilliant, but then I've always been a fan of hers since her time with Prince in the 80s. Looking forward to the Tina Weymouth episode..
  14. Ditto! 😊
  15. Nice! This brings back a few memories.. I had one of these about 8 or 9 years ago and it was a lovely sounding pre amp, exactly as Chris has described. I paired mine with a 210 cab for home practicing, which was great, but I also used to use it live in preamp mode to warm up my tone when I had solid state rigs for gigging. It's a really good piece of kit that's very versatile and you can't go wrong when dealing with Chris either, so all's good! GLWTS Chris and Happy New Year. 😊
  16. It's impossible to answer this without going against what you're asking us to do.. A bit like that brilliant Steven Wright (USA comedian) joke, 'What's Braille for Do Not Touch?' Good luck with your practicing
  17. Personally, I think the idea of 'being in touch' is over-rated.. And also a bit erroneous. For example, does someone who listens to Bach, Mozart and Monteverdi get accused of being out of touch on a classical music forum and told they should be listening to Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Aaron Copland instead? I doubt it. The fact that we have a wealth of amazing music to draw on from the last 500+ years or so (in the Western world that is) to listen to, inspire us, make us feel happy, feel sad or feel like dancing or playing the bass etc, etc, is a gift we should be ever grateful for IMO. I love the music I grew up with in the 70s and early 80s, but I've found other brilliant stuff too - from the 90s, 2000s and 2010s as well. But equally, I've discovered loads of other music made way before I was born that's blown me away.. So it's all good really. However, just to be a little bit contentious, I do kind of agree with Blue that - in so far as the rock music idiom is concerned - the best music of that genre was made in the so called golden age of rock music that spanned the 60s and 70s decades. But its only important to old farts like me when I want to wind up my son's generation of dubious dubsteppers and techno, R&B, rap, Grime headz! πŸ˜„πŸ˜Ž
  18. This is still the best place to find out about all things 'bass' IMO, whether that's double-bass, bass guitar, EUB, amps, cabs, FX etc, etc. Sure, some of the threads are a bit repetitious and some of the same topics produce the same arguments...which every now and again get a bit fractious..handbaggs at dawn and all that.. 😁 But by and large, those things are far outweighed by the positives that Basschat provides on tap, every day, week, month without fail! Gear advice, technical advice, music theory advice, support from a community of like-minded people (broadly speaking), for sale forums, off-topic debate & discussions.. The list of positives is almost endless. If there'd been somewhere I could get all this for free when I first started playing bass in the mid 70s, I'd have absolutely loved it. And I'm sure it would have made me a better bass player and musician.
  19. Lovely! I had the pleasure of playing one of these at the South East Bass Bash last year and it was an absolute joy to play; very comfortable in the hands due to it being so lightweight and short scale, but it still produces a beautiful, rich and organic sounding bass tone.. GLWTS 😊
  20. Glad to hear you got the bass back! 😊
  21. Fab - thanks for sharing! 😊
  22. I really like the P Bass and the P Bass sound... Or do I? Question for me is that just saying 'P Bass' is too simplistic. For example, if you compare Jamerson's P Bass sound to Bruce Foxton's sound, they're really quite different, so we need to be more specific about what sound we're really talking about.. Having said that - and in my own limited experience based on having worked with a number of different name record producers years ago - they do tend to have a 'go to' bass sound they like to use for certain types of music and as far as rock music goes, there is a kind of default P Bass sound that is favoured by producers. Funny enough, when you hear it solo, it's quite clanky and heavy on the mids, but in the mix with other instruments, it just sounds perfect! I agree with earlier comments above about the look of P Basses being very much the preferred image for many bands, regardless of what bass may have been used in the studio. Personally, I love the look of P Basses, just not the sunburst ones..
  23. Wow this is ridiculously cheap for an amp of this quality! GLWTS Rich.. 😊
