  1. Vintage Trace Elliott AH200 BassAmp and Cover For Sale, Now SOLD - thanks for all your interest! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š For sale only is my Trace Elliot AH200 Amp which I bought on Basschat from @stewblack earlier this year. Here's a link to Stew's ad which includes a link to a short video clip of the amp working : The amp is in good working order and comes with it's original Trace Elliot cover as can be seen in the photos below. Despite the fact that it's a high quality English made, classic design bass amp that's packed with quality components and features, it's really portable for such a powerful amp! On that point, it delivers 200 watts at 4 ohms and trust me, they are seriously loud, old-skool Trace watts which to me, sound as loud as my Hughes and Kettner Bassbase 600 watt amp. Apart from the classic Trace Elliot pre-shape switch - which I'd say gives you one of the classic bass tones of the last 35 years at the push of a button - it also has a switchable 12-band graphic EQ which gives you further extensive controls to easily shape your tone. Having said that, there is an inherent Trace Elliot tone to this amp in my opinion which is great straight out of the box also! I think someone else on Basschat once described it as 'hard-baked' which in my head equates to a dry, punchy and vintage bass tone. Tech Spec: * 200 Watts of power at 4 ohms * Passive and active input sections * 12-band graphic EQ * Variable control for the graphic EQ * Balanced DI out * Effects loop * Noise reduction switch * Line in/Line out * Headphone socket [Not sure how this link has appeared twice and now it has, I can't seem to remove it, so please ignore..] In terms of weight, it’s about 9kg, and very easy to carry - lighter than the 300W version even though it is nearly as powerful. It’s convection cooled via a massive aluminium heatsink on the back – so no fans to go wrong. It does have that slight background 'hum' that these amps are known for, but it's not intrusive in my opinion.. There's plenty of reviews online for these amps, including YouTube videos, so I won't duplicate them here.. Suffice to say, if you want to hear one of these in action or get feedback on how they sound, the interweb is your friend.. 😁 I'm selling because I've got too many amps and not enough gigs! And, when I was gigging more regularly before the lockdown, I tended to always use my full valve amp... So, here's your chance to pick up a classic versatile and great sounding bass amp at a very affordable price! Covid safe and properly socially distanced vewings are possible and welcome (by arrangement) in Littlehampton, West Sussex and yes, I'm happy to send by fully insured courier (at buyer's expense) if necessary. Any questions, please ask away here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking as ever... 😊 Nik
  2. Thanks Nigel, Look forward to it! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š All the best for now, Nik
  3. I refer you to my previous comments Chris! 😁
  4. You're a very good/bad influence Chris.. That's all I'm saying.. πŸ˜‚
  5. True, but he were a proper bass player Chris, with cool 'aircut, clobber and everything! 😁 Thank you! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š Actual the ever so kind @Paul S has offered me the loan of his very cool 70s Ricky copy, so I think that I might be sorted for this project... 😊 Yet another example of the Basschat community spirit in action!!
  6. I know it's not cheap, but I am surprised that that bass hasn't sold yet.. Especially considering how rare these are and how good they are! GLWTS Mick Whoever does buy it in the end will not be disappointed.
  7. ... I expect that'll be when the sampler and bass synths will suddenly make an appearance, whilst I get shuffled off to make t'tea!
  8. Thanks Chris 😁 That'll be an interesting challenge for me when I turn up at the studio with a very Fendery looking bass and the guys in the band and the engineer say: 'Oi, bass player Geek - Where's the fookin' Ricky? ' To which I shall reply... ' Look Guys, trust me on this one... Uncle Beedster on the Basschat Interweb Forum for Sad Bass Geeks said... ' 😁
  9. Very funny @Frank Blank πŸ˜‚ I am assuming you remember that brilliant Peter Cook sketch years ago about the 'Jeremy Thrope' case, which had that genius line in it: 'a self-confessed player of the pink oboe' Going back on topic, I did O'Level music in 1976-77 and although it did have all that droney stuff about certain classical composers and their works, what I did get out of it was the understanding of the major and minor keys, scales, plus stuff about harmony and time signatures etc.. So when I first started playing bass in bands - and was learning to play the instrument using tabs as opposed to those there proper dots - I could at least with my basic music O'Level theory, understand what was happening with the guitar chords in the songs we were writing/playing.. I'm grateful for that I'd nothing else as it meant I wasn't afraid to explore bass lines beyond simple root note and 5th... Must admit, I also really enjoyed learning about how crazy and obsessive some of the famous classical composers were, and what unusual and sometimes sad lives they lived. It completely prepared me for all the weirdos that I then met later on in the music business! 😁
  10. Will do Lozz! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  11. Thanks - and replied! ☺️
  12. Hi Paul, Thanks very much for your offer of help - that's brilliant! 😊 The recording project is happening over an extended period of time as there's a lot of back catalogue to be done so roughly, I'll be doing the journey up to Norfolk on a monthly basis for the next 6-9 months or so.. Whereabouts are you based Paul?
  13. Hi Folks Through lockdown I've been working on writing and recording some original music - first time I've done that for about 25 years - and it's been absolutely brilliant fun... Don't get me wrong, I'm really missing rehearsals and gigging at the moment, but in absence of those two staples of my musical diet, going back to writing and recording has been nothing short of a revelation for me. One of the projects I'm working on is re-recording a whole bunch of songs from my very first band, which started in 1978 - right in the era of punk and post-punk - and it finished in 1981 when I believe we finally split up over 'musical differences', band image , or girls or something.. 😁 Anyway, to try to cut this long story short, in those days I used a Hondo Ricky copy on some of our early recordings before buying a proper Ricky 4001 when I finally had enough money to do so (that bass is sadly long since gone..). I still have the Hondo but it's virtually unplayable.. It turns out that, although most of the old songs sound great played on my present collection of basses (BC Rich Eagle and Xotic Jazz in particular) , on a few of the tunes it turns out that nothing short of that unique Ricky sound will do! So, I'm putting a shout out here on Basschat to see if anyone has a Ricky or decent Ricky clone that they'd be prepared to hire out / loan me for a few days so I can get this project finished? An uber-big ask I know as our basses are like our children, right?.... But if anyone can and would like to help me out with this, it'd be very much appreciated! I'm based in West Sussex near Brighton, but the recording is taking place near Diss in Norfolk, so I could collect and return the bass somewhere along that M23/M25 /A12, Sussex, Kent, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk corridor. Please PM me if you might be able to help and I'll be happy to discuss hire fees, insurance etc, etc. Thanks for reading as ever! 😊 Nik
  14. Great thread! πŸ‘πŸ˜ From Wikipedia : 'Suspense is a state of mental uncertainty, anxiety, of being undecided, or of being doubtful.[1] In a dramatic work, suspense is the anticipation of the outcome of a plot or of the solution to an uncertainty, puzzle, or mystery,[2][3][4][5] particularly as it affects a character for whom one has sympathy.[6] However, suspense is not exclusive to fiction... ' Now that we all understand what the use of' suspense' means in an artistic setting, we can move on to explore the concept of 'suspenseful music'.. So, please make a note to look out for my next post on this riveting subject here on Basschat sometime around 07:45 on 07/09/27.... 😁
  15. Just bought a G&L SB1 bass from Nigel, aka @bumnote. Although we had met once before at one of the South East Bass Bashes, after a brief socially distanced meet up (courtesy of Chimike) where I couldn't quite make a decision about the bass, Nigel was kind enough to let me try the bass out for a few days before making a decision on it, which was incredibly trusting and very kind of him... Long story short, after a furry of PMs, text messages and couple of chats by phone, a deal was done and throughout, Nigel was very patient and helpful.. All in all, it was a very easy and pleasant transaction and I really can't recommend Nigel highly enough... he's another shining example of the Basschat community spirit in action and you can buy/trade with him in complete confidence! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š Thanks for everything Nigel and here's to the next one! 😁 Nik
  16. Thanks @casapete πŸ‘πŸ˜Š Covid has a lot to answer for...
  17. *** Now SOLD *** Hi Folks, For sale only is my Hartke HA5500 Amp which I bought on Basschat last year from @Linus27 This is the big brother to the more commonly seen HA3500 head, which is now acknowledged as one of the classic bass amp designs - a testament to Larry Hartke's impact on the bass world over the last 30 years or so... The amp is in very good working order and is in great condition comes with a Stagg case which makes it really portable. See photos below. This is an amazingly versatile amp that is 500 watts and it really is mega loud and has plenty of 'heft' ! 😁 No wonder it was Billy Sheehan's 'go to' amp of choice for years!! It delivers 500 watts at 4 ohms and 330 watts at 8 ohms. It has a tube preamp (a single 12AX7) and a solid state preamp with the option to blend the two sounds - which is a really great feature. Apart from the two preamp option, it has other fantastic tone shaping features which are extremely easy to use, including a fantastic compressor and a switchable 10-band graphic EQ. And as if that wasn't enough, it also has a low pass and high pass contour filter. To be honest, I have always tended to use these 2 contour controls instead of the graphic EQ to dial in my sound, but if that's your thing, then the graphic gives you loads of additional control over your sound. Here's the link to the tech spec and more info.. http://www.samsontech.com/hartke/products/amplifiers/ha-series-amplifiers/ha5500c/ * 500 Watts of power at 4 ohms * Tube and solid state preamp sections * Passive and active input sections * Bass, treble, and contour controls * 10-band graphic EQ * Variable compression * XLR direct out * Effects loop Link to the manual : http://www.samsontech.com/site_media/support/manuals/HA35_5500_OM_5L_V5.3_1.pdf I'm only selling because I've got too many amps and not enough gigs! 18. That's a lot of high quality amp for the money! GLWTS πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  19. Wow - don't think I've ever seen so much Mesa stuff for sale on here at any one time as there is now... As @WalMansays, this used to be mine. I had it for about a year after buying it on here with a Bergantino 212 which made for a great rig.. I used it for rehearsals and gigs in that time and it was faultless. The band I was in did a lot of classic rock tunes - Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Cult, Foos etc, etc and it was just brilliant for that.. In fact, our drummer said he preferred the sound of this to the Ampeg V4BH head I used to have! But it's definitely not a one-trick pony ; I also used it with another band playing lots of old Soul/Funk tunes and again, it was great in that setting too... Bottom line is that it has loads of power and surprisingly good eq with great mids, so you'll never get lost in the mix (as the saying goes)... In the end, I kept my Ampeg rig and moved this on but that was only because I had too much gear and had just moved house so needed to free up some cash, otherwise, I would have loved to have kept it. Anyway, suffice to say, this is an absolutely top quality piece of kit that's much more versatile than you think and it really does produce that mythical 'heft' some of us (old farts) talk about! 😁 Oh, and Al's a great guy to deal with by the way so no concerns there either... GLWTS 😊
  20. That's a monstrous and beautiful piece of kit @Steve Browning which I'm pretty sure I remember seeing and hearing at one or two Bass Bashes over the years! It's also an utter bargain at this price - especially knowing that it's effectively been in your care for over 30 years.. What's that phrase in the motor trade? - 'one careful Lady owner' 😁 Not that I'm casting any aspersions mind; this is very much a man's man's amp by all accounts ! On a more serious note, I remember playing a Roscoe Beck 5 String through one of these at the national Basschat Bash in 2007 and I was just grinning from ear to ear because the sound was immense! GLWTS πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  21. Just bought a Zoom pedal from Bas that arrived in super-fast time and in perfect condition! Great comms and packaging and everything just as it should be.. As all the above feedback says, Bas is a great guy so deal with him in absolute confidence Folks.. 😊 Thanks Bas - many thanks for the pedal and here's to the next one! πŸ‘πŸ˜ Nik
  22. Fabulous!! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š GLWTS
  23. +1 to all that @danbowskill And good luck with the sale Dave - I hope you're keeping well at the moment. πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
