  1. Good idea for a thread @Mudpup, a 'sinners confessional' if you will... I expect there'll be a few of us playing as @Mertonsaid above... I'm just wondering what these words mean though: 'gear abstinence' Surely that's an oxymoron? 😁
  2. I had one of these from the same era, bought circa 1990/91 from The Bass Centre when it was in Wapping, and it was a 34" scale neck IIRC.. Mine was a purple heart Classic 5 and it was the most resonant bass I've ever owned.. IMO, that era of Mike Tobias's work is when he produced some of the finest basses he has ever made - they're just wonderful instruments! GLWTS
  3. Wow - didn't think I'd ever see this on here @The Greek If this is the one I played at your place a few years ago Mick, then I can only say that it's an absolutely stunning instrument - beautiful in terms of its playability and a gorgeous, rich, inherent tone to it! GLWTS
  4. Stunning! 😊 GLWTS
  5. String spacing at the bridge is 19 mm on mine.... Not that I could possibly condone any of that 'slapping da bass' nonsense! 😁
  6. Me too! I bought one for the first time last year and it's absolutely fantastic.. I'd love to add this one to my collection but alas, that's not possible right now. GLWTS
  7. Isn't this the one you've used on all your lockdown YouTube videos Gary? If so, it's got some serious fan base out there in Facebook land and extra special provenance as a result.. That's got to worth another £100 on the asking price at least! 😁
  8. That's just awesome! Not the story about your cat, but the rig.. .. It's just excessively and gloriously beautiful. Perhaps the MOD should invest in a few hundred of these for future defence of the realm purposes? 😁 Anyway, GLWTS.
  9. I've got some very fond memories of owning one of these amps, which I bought when I started playing bass again after a 12 break. Very loud 'old skool' watts if I recall correctly, and the two separate channels were really handy for setting up eq for a 4 string and a 5 string bass set up that I used for gigging. GLWTS
  10. Fabulous! GLWTS
  11. How is it possible that such a stunning looking MIJ P bass, being sold by one of Basschat's finest, is still here? πŸ€” I'm not even in the market for another bass, and I keep looking at this pretty much every day... mind you, that's GAS for you I suppose. 😁 GLWTS @Clarky (I guess the upside is that you still get to play it whilst it hasn't sold)
  12. Yes, it's 3U. That's 3U of finest quality German built amplification though! 😁
  13. Couldn't agree with you more on this @claustra The quality and versatility of an amp like this is second to none! Still can't quite believe it hasn't sold yet tbh.. πŸ€”πŸ™„
  14. All joking aside, the P Bass is almost the perfect example of simple, elegant design at its best... And this is a beautiful version of Leo Fender's work !
  15. Beautiful in its simplicity! GLWTS 😊
  16. Had the pleasure of spending a socially distanced couple of hours with Chris yesterday and it was an absolute pleasure! As always happens on these occasions, I'm still buzzing about the conversation we had ! I've never heard or seen Chris play the bass in all the time I've known him, and I suspect he's pretty damn good at it! But one think I can be absolutely sure of is that Chris is a born educator. In amongst his love of music, his expertise about the tools of making music and his all round top blokeness, there's also this amazing wisdom and knowledge about so many things that happy to share... Such as his story about the Scorsese film 'The Last Waltz', which I'm about to check out today after Chris told me about Neil Young's performance of 'Helpless' in it... Btw; Chris, as I said, KD Lang has been covering that song and others from NY's back catalogue for years.. Check out her album 'Hymns from the 49th Parallel'. And thanks for all the other pearls of wisdom and golden nuggets of info too - my head's still exploding from what you said about neural pathways and homeostasis!! 😳 Absolute light bulb moments. πŸ’‘πŸ˜ Ooh, and lest I forget - what can I say about the V12 that hasn't already been said other than that it's freakin' awesome!! Thanks for selling it to me, it's beyond my expectations already.😊 For anyone on here who's not yet had the pleasure of dealing with Chris on something bass-related, all I can say is that you'll really appreciate it when (and if) you do as he is a bit of a Basschat legend for very, very good reasons! πŸ‘ Thanks again mate, and here's to the next time! 😊 Nik
  17. Ah, Chris - it was an absolute pleasure - I'm still buzzing about the conversation! Looking forward to watching the whole film now and thanks for sharing that clip.. An amazing performance by Neil Young! As I said, KD Lang has been covering that song and others from NY's back catalogue for years.. Check out her album 'Hymns from the 49th Parallel'. Ooh, and lest I forget - what can I say about the V12 that hasn't already been said other than that it's freakin' awesome!! Thanks again mate, and here's to the next time! 😊 Nik
  18. Amazing to see... I feel a bit like I do walking around the Tate or the National Portrait Gallery - admiring of something of value thats beautiful, historic but sadly, way out of my league! GLWTS πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  19. Not wanting to lower the tone of this rather lovely for sale thread, but are you sure you wouldn't want to rephrase that @Chris Horton...? 😬🀭😁 I shall now get my coat and exit quietly stage left....
  20. Don't see these around too often... I had one years ago and always liked it in live gig situations! GLWTS
  21. That's a real beauty of a bass @Clarky! GLWTS
  22. That's a beautiful and really distinctive looking bass! GLWTS 😊
  23. *** Now SOLD *** πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
