Thread necromancy here... Any experience with the 2x12 cabinet? I've got my eye on one to go with my Tech 21 VT Bass head; it's an SVT sounding amp. My current cab is a bit wooly sounding.

I can see this being a great concert -in theory - but I don't think we will be seeing a full set of Ozzy and Bill with Sabbath. Too many guest vocalists and drummers in the roster for that to be likely. It will be stupidly expensive for a single day event. I saw Sabbath with Bill in 2004 or 2005, and rally that's good enough for me. Pantera died with Dime. Alice in Chains died with Layne (the missus argues against this lol). I don't see any way that I go to this. I'd have to buy 3 tickets and book time off work, find accommodation etc. Nope.

I'm about to meet up with some people (none of whom have played with others in a while either), and I am obviously worried about this part of it. My last band was me on drums, my brother on guitar, a friend playing bass really badly, and a revolving door if vocalists. My brother and I were on the same page 99% of the time. I don't like change and it's hugely anxiety provoking. We only stopped playing because of things beyond my control. Sometimes just withdrawal from something is absolutely the right thing to do though.

I don't think I did in my first comment. Don't sweat it. I gave it a fair go haha. Not my thing. His signature whammy pedal is pretty cool though.

I can see he's very skilled, but I don't think I want to invest time in trying to like it. I've watched 5 or so clips. The lefty-righty thing is interesting.

I like *some* funk, but it has to be very specific, and I have to be in the mood for it. I'm the same with every genre of music. Something will either spark interest or I will hate it. I haven't found any modern funk stuff I like though. I watched a few Mononeon performance videos earlier today. I hadn't heard of him until the new Digitech signature pedal was revealed. I found his playing to be annoying and too showy. I got a minute into a solo, and felt irrationally angry for some reason. Weird. Am I wrong here? Probably triggering people. 😅

I'm thinking of doing this...a good cab, then another good cab. I'm leaning towards GK neo IV. My first bass teacher had a GK amp, and I've loved them since. A Mesa Subway 115 or 212 would be nice too. This would max out my budget. A Barefaced would be stretching it, but it *would* be a one cab solution at 4ohms and would cover an inevitable amount upgrade. https://www.tech21nyc.com/archive/vtbass-500/

Why "interesting "? It's a gorgeous little amp, which I've had a few years. Sounds fantastic. The *only* problem is that the DI volume isn't independent of the speaker output volume. When it finally dies I don't know what I'll go to.

Nothing against that idea. I used to run 15" Peavey cabs back in the 90s. I had a massive SWR head at that time. It was all ridiculously heavy.

I despise driving haha. The new 2x12 energy cabs look good, but the combined cost for 2 cabs might be a smidge too much. That said, I'm running 300w into a less than stellar cab now, and I can't find a matching cab for *that*. I've seen a pair of neo Ashdown 2x10 cabs for less than £800....

I'm currently using a Tech 21 VT Bass 500 head into a TC Electronic k-212 cab. I play mostly doom metal, and I'm in a 90s/2000s rock cover band. The Amp is fantastic and rated at 300w at 8ohm and 500w at 4 ohm. I love the head, but the cab is just not *quite* enough for me. I bought it blind when it was cheap but well reviewed, and I've grown to dislike it. It's not hugely heavy, but the shape is unwieldy, and it struggles with lower tunings even with the mids pushed (I don't play below low A if I can help it). I struggle for volume at times when there's insufficient PA support. I need advice on a replacement cab. I can't find a matching k 212, and I don't really like the aesthetic anymore. I'm thinking that I want a brand that won't go obsolete the second I buy it (thanks TC), and can be expanded when I have extra £££. I need it to be able to handle low notes without farting at volume, and probably 2x12. Storing and moving a 4x10 is impractical unless it's not much different to 2x12 specs. I will have £800-900 at most to spare on an 8 ohm cab (probably but open to advice) or a lower cost pair of cabs. I looked at GK neo IV, Markbass energy etc. The used market in my neck of the woods it woeful, an I'm hours away from civilization. Thanks in advance for reading my nonsense.

When I was a teenager, my SWR Workingman's amp head would 'fuse' every few months of gigging. I'd forever be needing to source spares for the removable fuse in the back of the amp. I had it looked at by techs who never found an explanation. It was never really pushed, volume-wise either. I gave it to a friend when I switched to drums. Stupid.

I saw a Gallien Krueger video on YouTube recently, with his 'replacement'. Might be useful. Found it.

More positive feedback for Mike. Bought a Kink Audio Dozer fuzz pedal. Well packed, good price. I'm happy. It's a monster pedal, that I think has kicked my Way Huge Swollen Pickle off my board. Thanks again!

C standard is a *good* tuning. It dooms. Nice little guitars, these.
