  1. The extra low notes are vital for my preferred genre; Doom metal. I know a lot of players use a 4, but I like having the extra range and choice of notes. I still love my 4 string glasses, which I tend to use for other types of music.
  2. We aren't *all* monsters 😅
  3. Living room sofa noodling - whatever bass is close through a zoom B10n multi FX and some cheap headphones. Proper practice - bass through my pedal board, into a Behringer audio interface, into a Mac, with Amplitube 4. Output is usually some Shure monitoring headphones, but I also have studio monitors, but prefer the headphones. I rarely practice with my amp at home; crappy terraced house.
  4. Horna The new LP is great fun. This is them live a while back at Kilkim Zaibu, a festival I'd love to attend.
  5. These are awesome. I'd buy it if I did t already own one.
  6. I don't want the HM2 sound. The early demos of the MM made me think of polish bands like Mgla and Terrestrial Hospice. Not a lot of BM bands use fuzz (traditionally), so it's quite distinctive. I'm a fuzz guy for bass and guitar; I'm mainly a black and doom metal player. I have several ODs and Modern Distortion pedals. I tried the EHX Hell Melter, but it's not what I want either. The insanity of the ring mod and lack of blend were my problem with the MM. If that's what you want, it's great I suppose.
  7. If it had a blend, I think I would have kept it. It was bonkers but too much for me. Try before you buy it you can. Luke (I think?) from Holy Island Audio is a decent bloke; send him a message to talk about what you're after?
  8. I had the Mountain mover. It's absolutely insane and really hard to dial in, in my experience. I sent mine back, thinking it was damaged.....it wasn't. I hated it. I was hoping to use it on guitar and bass (I wanted the modern polish death/black metal sound), but I didn't get on with it. I realise our objectives are all different though. My advice is to get it with the intermittent foot switch for the ring mod. It's crazy as an on/off. Best of luck.
  9. Even then lol.....nothing decent to trade unfortunately.
  10. The close up of the real made me do an involuntary grunt....nice. I have no chance of affording it though....
  11. Holy Island Audio 'Mountain Mover'. I bought it after hearing a guitar demo, and being told it sounded great on bass... but just couldn't get on with it. I legitimately thought it was broken; contacted the maker and found out it was fine. I sent it back for a refund. It was just *too much* and impossible to dial in for my tastes.
  12. Not strictly a pedal, but I bought a (nearly new) Cioks DC7 power supply, and it has been a revelation. I was previously using a Caline power supply, which was noisy and unreliable. It couldn't manage all my power needs. Runner up is a Laney Digbeth DB-pre. It sounds good to my ears and the built in headphones out is great for practice when traveling. TL;DR Cioks DC7 expensive but amazing power supply Laney Digbeth DB-pre good cheap DI/preamp.
  13. Us black metal folks are pretty elitist. I do have a sire V5 in light mint green, with a copper colour pick guard though. I've nearly broken my programming. 🤔
  14. I'm really tempted by the 'burgundy' z7 5 string...I'm a metal player though, and it doesn't seem appropriate 😂 It's a few hundred less than the Yamaha BB435 I was looking at. Tempting.
  15. At home: Amplitube 4 on my Mac, through an audio interface and some Shure headphones Not at home: same headphones but Laney Digbeth dB-pre pedal as a headphone amp. Sometimes my Zoom B1ON comes with me for a trip.
  16. Code for 'Austrian Painter'?
  17. I probably won't even bother with the sequel. This is Spinal Tap has a special place in my heart, and I just don't think anyone involved is capable of making anything genuinely *good* or funny anymore.
  18. Dumb question but how does this handle hot active basses? 😉
  19. I'm a doom/metal player mostly, but I've recently got back into 70s funk! It's got to be done haha. I appreciate your effort. Cheers.
  20. Thanks. Your post helped me decide between the Supa Funk and the Dr Black Fwonkbeta tbh. It's all a bit overwhelming. I had an old DOD envelope filter back in the 90s.
  21. Thread necromancy, I know but I just ordered one of the Supa Funk pedals.
  22. I know. I've got my first proper reverb pedal too, so there's that.. I can see it getting silly tbh.
  23. I've been saving my pennies. It's the most expensive pedal I've bought *yet*.
  24. If I hadn't just bought. Holy Island Mountain Mover.....☹️
