I have an irrational hatred for jazz. Literally any jazz (especially with electric organ/piano, or wild saxophone solos....just drives me nuts). I tried really hard to get into Jaco, Mingus etc when I was a beginner, but I just can't.

Last Dance with Mary Jane - Tom Petty Gimme Shelter - Stereophonics (Rolling Stones) Roadhouse Blues - Doors Suzie Q - Creedence Dead Flowers - Stones I'm jamming with some older fellas on Wednesday. I don't know any of these songs other than Suzie q (and I never learned that). Really out of my wheelhouse. I have three 12.5h shifts before that, and Tuesday morning is allocated to another task. I will be relying on cheat sheets/sheet music I think.

I just ordered a Boss OC-5. Why? No idea. I don't really need one, but it sounds cool.

I wanted to play drums when I was 12 or 13. Mum said no, so a guitar playing friend of mine suggested bass. I saved my pocket money and did some jobs for neighbours for a few quid; I went to my local small guitar shop (Sam's Guitars in Bangor, North Wales ) and bought a black Charvette bass (budget charvel). I was gifted an old 50w combo by a family friend. My guitarist friend (a year or so ahead of me in learning) taught me the basics, then I was largely self taught until lessons for a year or so later in school. From then on I was obsessed. My life was almost entirely music. Then at age 20 I got my first drum kit, and was obsessed with that for several years. I came back to playing bass (casually) 3-4 years ago. We moved house and drums were not practical.

Purchased a Fuzzrocious Grey Stache from Dave. Responsive to my dumb questions and very quick despatch. Happy times ahead; it's probably kicking my Bass Big Muff Pi off my board!

So far this month I have failed to be abstinent on several occasions. I have bought a new EHX Tri Parallel pedal, a Fuzzrocious Grey Stache from one of the members here., some appropriate (ish) patch cables and I've agreed to buy another Orange OBC115 cab (silly money, hope it doesn't fall through .....sort of). Sorry.

I'll be getting one at some point to replace my old Gear 4 Music 15w monster amp. I'd like something smaller for low volume practice when I'm sat on the sofa. Thomann has a 12- 15 week wait until restock.

This is a great video. I haven't watched the Jaco instructional in *years*. Thanks for doing this; should be helpful. I'm struggling with big stretches (I have drummer hands).

An Empress Bass compressor. I had an Orange Kongpressor but it distorted with active basses. I hadn't used a compressor in 30+ years of playing. A second Orange OBC115 cabinet. I'm working on it....I honestly don't think it's a mistake but it is huge. Good price on this one though. I haven't played a gig in over a year. Madness. Why did I buy one in the first place? I should have just bought those MarkBass 151s. Edit... The OBC115 sounds AMAZING with my current setup. 😲

I remember going to a Sunn0))) gig. My ears were ringing for days even with high quality custom plugs. Yes it's *authentic*, but wow.

These things are a godsend for practice and gigs. Folds really small, and very stable.

Nice. I love my V5, and genuinely miss playing fretless bass.

I took my wife and daughter to see Wednesday 13 at the Tivoli in Buckley. Absolutely no my things but they put on a good show. The In-House sound is atrocious though. The bass player's Stingray was unrecognisable as such. Loads of mud and zero tone. The sound is always bad at the venue.

I saw the trailer for Spinal Tap 2 yesterday. I *really* want to like it, and it definitely has a few funny parts. I'm fairly certain that it won't be good though. I hope to be proven wrong.

Blood Incantation is phenomenal. I'm usually a black/doom listeniner, but I really like BI.

I'm taking my wife and daughter to Wednesday 13 in a few weeks. I just realised, and felt a bit sad about it..... because Wednesday 13 sucks.

It looks really fun, but the sound demos I've heard don't appeal; it's too cutting or shrill for my tastes.
