1. Great tune. Another one for the "to make a very bad attempt at learning" list...
2.
You'd think he'd wipe his strings down *before* they started playing at least... 3.
Yeah, I always buy packs of 10 of the Procell ones, they're great. Just bought some from this seller (who's slightly cheaper than the one you linked to), though I've not used them before. I'm sure they'll be fine though! 4.
Buy a box of them on ebay! I know thats no help to get out of a situation when you really need a battery for a pedal for a gig or practice that night, but you can save yourself a fair bit of money buying a box of 10 or so. I haven't looked properly but this seems like good value for money at a glance: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-x-Duracell-9-Volt...93%3A1|294%3A50
Yeah, I always buy packs of 10 of the Procell ones, they're great. 5. These weren't Panasonic batteries by any chance? If so, avoid them like the plague... no matter where you buy them from they're dead.

Looks good! Do you DI boxes support +48V phantom powering? Batteries/separate power supplies are a pain
11. Can't recommend the East/ACG pre-amp enough. It's chuffing great.
12. Does anyone know of any firms that hire amps/cabs in Glasgow. Looking for something decently sized (though not 8x10 territory – a 1x15 or 4x10 would be ideal) for a gig this Monday, and so far my searching hasn't turned up anything. There seem to be a fair number of places in Edinburgh that say they deliver to Glasgow, but I would guess that it would end up being fairly expensive in fuel/labour costs and I can't pick it up (no car, etc). Getting a bit last minute now, so any pointers would be appreciated.
13. You go into My Controls (in the menu at the top) and then there's a Subscriptions section in the menu at the left. The topics/forums you are subscribed to should be listed there. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=50
14. What size are the holes in the machine head? I would guess they'll be 17.6mm which is slightly too big for these – they require a 15mm hole. There doesn't seem to be any information on the M.M. site about the holes, so measuring them would be best.
15. Basically, it's not possible to get 4/8Ω from a single set of speakers. You could replace all the speakers in the cab to get a 4Ω cab (and hence 2 cabs would give you the 2Ω minimum load for the Firebass), but you wouldn't be able to switch it back to 8Ω. There's plenty of discussion about this here, so the search function is your friend...
16. TI flats rock. I have them on my 4-string Precision now and it sounds and feels amazing. Still got rounds on my 5-string, since it's a much more "modern" sounding bass, but may try TIs on it at some point.

5 String P-basses

Aside from the American Std. Precision V, there doesn't seem to be a lot of choice from Fender/Squier these days. They don't even do the American Dlx. model any more...

My pair...

Well, I'm up visiting my parents, so I thought I'd take advantage of the grass and sunshine
22. Hey Eoin, fancy seeing you here! Nice to have another one of the Orkney contingent on board...
23. I've always been a fan of nickel Elites, they last well, feel great and have quite a tight feel. I tend to replace them every 6 months or so, since they die down a bit after that and I quite like the "new string" sound. At around £12 a set they're not too much of an expense, compared to £30 or so for a set of DRs. I've heard good things about Ernie Ball strings as well, but never had a reason to try them. I still use Elites on my 5-string, but I've switched my 4-string Precision over to TI Jazz flats and am loving it. They're a lot looser and a bit lighter than the Elites, but the tone is brilliant. Think the Jamerson/Motown old school Precision sound and you've got the sound of flats. La Bella flats get good reviews too and are supposed to be heavier and tighter, but I like the elasticey feel of the TIs.
24. GAS central... must resist...
