1. I've been using Elites Players for years – and always been happy with them. They last a lot better than the Rotos in my experience, though I haven't used Rotos since switching to Elites
2.
You would need a stereo power amp.
Or two mono amps
3. Either is good for me... Edit: The only thing to be said for having it on a Sunday is that it pretty much rules out people looking to use public transport to get down. The first bus from Glasgow leaves at 15:00 and arrives at 16:25, and the last one back leaves Moffat at 18:00. I guess I should start looking for a lift then! Any other day of the week would be do-able by bus, but I can understand the reasons for having it on a Sunday – though, being a Sunday, I would think that having coffee on tap may be pretty essential http://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetables/X7...2008website.pdf
4. I'd certainly be up for it – the end of April sounds fine.
5. How easy is it to get to Moffat via public transport? While I'm sure there will be a fair few people willing to give lifts, it would be nice to have a venue that us non-car folk could get to without too much trouble...

7. With a radiused fret board, then the outer two strings are generally set slightly lower than the inner two, so that the height of each string off the fret board is pretty much constant. In the end, it's all down to individual preference though. If you're unhappy with it, then there's nothing to stop you from adjusting it yourself. Just tighten or loosen the grub screws to move each saddle up or down.
8. How about a Japanese Fender? They're pretty excellent and shouldn't cost much more than a Mexican, especially if you consider second hand instruments.
9. I don't see why not. It should be connected something like this: Please excuse my crap drawing skills

ACG 9 STRING

Oooof. Every one of these threads makes me one step closer to picking up the phone and making a call to Moffat... Congratulations. That's one fine looking bass! Don't know if I could handle that many strings though
12. If anyone notices a 5-string version of this on sale, please let me know.
13. Try WD: http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/product/P_BASS_AM...RBOARD_PBA-415#
14. These not long enough? http://www.allparts.uk.com/250k-audio-spli....html?p=product
15. Not sure what the Laney amps are like (I hear they're pretty good) but you can't go wrong with a Trace.
16.
The cap eats high frequencies. If you want full treble - no cap.
Indeed. However, that is likely to be even more trebly than the fully up position on the tone control – since even with the control fully up you still loose a bit of the treble through the capacitor and full resistance of the potentiometer. If you're wanting it to sound exactly like it does at the moment (with the tone control up full) then you need to wire a capacitor in series with a fixed resistor across the output pins. The resistor value should match the values of your pots (i.e. 250kΩ or 500kΩ) and the capacitor value should match the current capacitor in your bass (most likely .047µF). Also, you loose a bit of treble through the volume pot, even when it's up full. So you should really wire another resistor in parallel with the resistor/capacitor if you're removing the volume control as well and want to achieve the exact sound you have at the moment. So you'll end up with something like this across the pins of the output jack (excuse my bad ASCII art):
C R +---| |---^^^^^---+ Hot o---+ +----o GND +------^^^^^------+ R
Though that may be being a little pedantic. The resistor and capacitor in series will probably do
17. Um, a passive tone control rolls off the treble as you decrease the control, not the bass. Do you mean you play with the tone control fully up – i.e. the sound is at it's most trebly?
18. Seems there's a thread about them on TalkBass: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=507696 Looks like they have an effects loop and DI out on the side... bit of a pain if you want to put them in a case. By my calculations (taking them to be the same size as the Tiny Terror guitar amp) they should fit in a 4U rack case if you made up rack ears for them.
19. I guess this was announced at NAMM, but it's the first I've heard of it. Looks GASelicious though: http://www.dv247.com/invt/61880/ 500w digital power section, valve preamp and weighs in at 4kgs for £450. Put me down for one!
20. Welcome!
21.
Its too late now but Hipshot have started making their bridges with Fender fit holes. Badass gone bust; whats that all about?
They don't do a model to fit the Fender Deluxe models, which the Badass III was basically the only option for...
22. Hmm, interesting. Any idea on the depth of that thing? All the 1U class-D amps I've come across (albeit in a fairly limited search) are stupidly deep, and hence won't fit in to a standard rack case...
23.
I just picked up an 800w stereo 1u digital power amp for £90 which I will use with my Vbass as the pre - cheap and easy! The BK electronics one looks superb too and they are great people over at BK. They will be coming to BC soon with some special offers, so watch this space... Cheers ped
What make/model would that power amp be? £90 sounds like a bit of a bargain...
