  1. Did your old Vista fit in one of those Thomann bags, @Paul S?
  2. Maybe try a keyboard stand instead. I had a heavy duty one for my Hohner Pianet. Pretty sure @scrumpymike had a keyboard stand with an amp on it at the SW bass bash, too. edit: Mine looked like this. 50kg rating, too: https://www.gak.co.uk/en/tiger-kys21-adjustable-platform-mixer-keyboard-stand-black/950321?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmMayBhDuARIsAM9HM8cZGS1goVGHU7540-G0Z72P_Va8B_S7bVf5aYdcHOQumoMiHUEK6kMaAnKiEALw_wcB
  3. That Bigsby design looks like it originated in the whaling/seal clubbing sector.
  4. I’m usually be up for oly white, but that veneer should be visible! What about a walnut shade of stain? Looks awesome, BTW.
  5. What are the dimensions of the unit, please?
  6. Got two sets of D’Addario flats, cut for a P-bass, with the G string missing. Any use to you?
  7. Imagine if I knew about these first time around when they were only £99!! 😂😭
  8. Been interested in these for a while due to the nut width. This one popped up in conversation here and, well, one thing led to another and now it’s in my house! It came with a black scratchplate, which I thought looked ace, but the original white plate has aged to a lovely coffee-stain/cream colour, and looks absolutely effin fantastic! One surprise was the string width at the bridge - I’d just assumed it would be standard P spacing but it’s a little tighter. Nothing I won’t get used to. Changed the knobs just because.
  9. My first amp!
  10. I have no hints & tips re edge sanding, other than just go at it. Takes an age! The middle example above seems to match what remains of your first finish in the neck pocket. Brown seems to cover everything well - it’s what I used on my refinish (used Crimson Guitars stuff); My only regret with this one was being an impatient prat and not leaving enough time between stain coats, leaving it a touch patchy in places.
  11. That’s a neat solution. I have recently acquired a Vista Musicmaster, and the pickup is of similar construction to the 50’s P.
  12. Love that purple G&L!
  13. Bought a lovely little Musicmaster from @Paul S last week. Promised Mrs Turgh I’d let one of the others go. The JV will be with me til the end. The Musicmaster is delightful. Can’t decide between the Toby (sounds fantastic plugged in) or the Matsumoku “Thing” (spent a lot of time sanding, has a lovely neck).
  14. Cab resonance feature? Eh? Does it have a built in mic to calibrate that? I don’t get it.
  15. Bloody thieves. The van was probably in a container being loaded up on to a ship in Tilbury before anyone noticed it was gone.
  16. Looks cool, either way!
  17. Some good folk on here designed a few cabs for DIY construction; Here’s my effort;
  18. These seem a good all round balance too (and current);
  19. The plant needs a water, but here’s my wife-friendly living room entry - Peterson combo from the early 80’s.
  20. Ah, man. After the next one I have lined up, this thread has just encouraged me to try 6 string. Maybe even fretless. FFS.
  21. That is pretty. Here’s hoping my numbers come up this eve..
  22. Great excuse for a new bass.
  23. I like these games. Didn’t have the finish I wanted (walnut or roasted ash body) but this is nice;
