I read that as “cow paint”. And accepted it. Think I need sleep!

Here’s what a mint guard could look like…

Many moons ago I took mine off and polished it with Brasso. Looked awesome!

Peterson amp playing up again - thoughts?
Pea Turgh replied to Pea Turgh's topic in Repairs and Technical
Will open it up for a look (but not touch anything). I won’t be switching it on til either; A. I spot something obvious and within my skill set, or B. a tech sorts it for me - saw a powered wedge fail quite spectacularly whereby somehow DC went to the speaker 😱. Wouldn’t want that happening to old Pete! -
Hello peeps. Had my trusty (40+ years old) Peterson P120 combo for 16 years now. Gigged it quite a bit, serviced a few years ago when it went thin and farty, returned to full health and had light use since. Used it last night for a jam with my lad - all good. Switched it on this afternoon - super loud low buzz, even with all controls at zero, with both instrument plugged in and not. Power plug fine, briefly tested with 2 different basses, 2 different leads - no difference. Might any knowledgeable folks recognise the fault from that symptom set?

I sold mine in a fit of “but the next one will the The One”. It wasn’t, and I sold that, too! I do regret the sale of the Mustang. I put a mint guard on mine - looked lush! Cue me looking for another oly white Mustang…

I reckon a scalloped neck from a 5 string (but only put 4 strings with a wider spacing) would go great with that.

Nice - congratulations on your win!!!

Got wood? Roll your own!

Hola peeps. Got a hankering for something a little nicer than the charity shop Hohner I have at the moment, but no idea where to start. Any particular brands/period of construction/country of origin I should keep an eye out for?

How is this one going @Jabba_the_gut?

Nice job! I have a naked head from a 715s combo to house before sending off to an amp doctor. Just need some ply and a couple of hours. Love making stuff out of wood!

Trace Elliot - Rescue & Restore (and bargain finds)
Pea Turgh replied to SimonK's topic in Amps and Cabs
I would say it’s time for an intervention, but that’s not really what we do here! 😂 -

That looks cool as-is! Pop the tweeter out for a second port hole? Got to be worth a try.

How to dull/lighten an anodized finish
Pea Turgh replied to Pea Turgh's topic in Repairs and Technical
Went to fit the new knobs - they don’t fit! The holes are a bit small. Never mind, I’ll make a more informed choice next time. This set are going to live on an old Trace head that was missing it’s knobs. -
Can anything else be done for a heavy bass?
Pea Turgh replied to Iheartreverb's topic in Bass Guitars
There was a member here who took a saw to the back of his heavy bass, taking off a perfect slice. Mad skills.
