They kinda look like they’ve been stored in a damp shed. You’d want to make sure the coils haven perished. Also the cabinets are made from MDF, so that could also be fooked.

Free wood - looks like mahogany to me, but owner says it’s teak. What does the hive mind say?!

You’d probably be better off with Barefaced 10s - they are vintage-voiced (man I’m miss my Two10!). The 12s are supposed to be more full range flat response (FRFR).

As would the nice paint job eventually!

The way I’d approach it would be to stick paper to the (stripped) body so I could map out the position of the neck and pickup. Firstly rough cut the edges so I can run a straight edge along the sides of the body. Then I’d just follow the body lines for the lower horn - that’s the bit that needs to be bang on for me - uniform spacing all around! I taped a pencil to some other objects to make a jig. Repeat until it looks right, then stick to your sheet and get busy with a jigsaw. I then scraped a 45 degree bevel on the plate with a Stanley knife. I appreciate that might be a bit Heath Robinson for most though!

Headstocks all look stupid if you look at them for long enough.

Love the Delta (top one). 40mm nut. I can live with that. Headstock not as cool as the body (but headstocks are always a funny one to get right).

That’s a deposit for a house

Saw something very similar about a year ago. Some kid leaving the local rehearsal studio was carrying one. Had a chat, picked it up (heavy). Action was too high to play and someone had cut in to the back of the neck - assuming to do with the truss rod nut. That example you linked looks in much better condition!

What about mocha? That grain would gert lush darkened up a bit.

Thought that was a really nice green body for a minute, then wondered why the little Korg thing was inside the pick-up hole 🤣. That would be a cracking shade for a p-bass body!

I discovered a good relicing technique - let your teenage kids use your gear. Sooo many more dings in everything now. Even the walls. Not so much of a fashion, but they are especially talented at relicing my f*****g leads! It’s like a bowl of rice crispies when I plug anything in. On a more serious note, that Monty’s stuff on the fretboard seems great (though your board seems nicely dark already in the pic). Also stick a lit fag behind the nut on the E string and let it scorch the wood!

That’s an impressively over-engineered bridge - it’s massive! Cool looking bass overall. Classic from afar, but with modern touches.

Cool bass! I love an old Japanese mystery. That scratch plate doesn’t look original - would look 10 times better if you made a new one that followed the contours of the body.
